I guess I should've said that this is on a private multiplayer server I host for myself and friends.

    Quote from spiderwelll

get one really big torch, with the power of a million candles!!! (rhod gilbert fans will appreciate this)

That would be sick. Now to farm out the materials for that torch.

Seriously though I'm probably just going to lay glowstone then.

Perhaps have a small stone building on the grass blocks with steve smelting the iron inside the furnace trying to fight off the creeper and keep it away from his pig and chicken.

This reminds me of a question I was asked once. If a creeper explodes and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

They're good for when you're wanting to farm some gunpowder. As for the hate factor it's more of an annoyance thing than anything else. such as if I'm trying to lay a railway across something. They'll take out the rail and make a nice 4-5 block deep crater and knock out 6 blocks in the other directions around where I was building. then I have to fill in the hole and repair the damage. Anymore if it's something I don't want to be blown up by a creeper I just build from obsidian which is explosive proof. It can be a pain to farm out but worth it if you can. The really annoying guys in my opinion are the Endermen. With my luck I could be laying something down and then once I run into him, I'll look up to see what I hit and the fight is on.

Creepers like all other monsters used to burn up in the sunlight if you were around during that time in the beta. Made things interesting as now you had not only the spiders which wouldn't die in the sunlight but also a monster that goes boom, makes a nice crater, and takes out half your stuff =D

That's not exactly practical as the project is dealing with an area of over 1 million blocks.

I've got a bit of something I'm hoping the community can help with. Is there a way to prevent monsters from spawning above a specific height? I'm working on a monster free zone so to speak. I don't want to eliminate monsters from spawning completely, I just don't want them to spawn above s specific height. Any and all help is appreciated.

After the most recent updates such as 1.1 and 1.0 my world no longer works and I was wondering if there is a way to downgrade your server to 1.8. I found an old backup copy of my client jar I forgot I had so now I just need the server to complete the deal. any and all help in downgrading my server back to 1.8 is much appreciated.

I've been playing around for awhile in the MC edit trying to save my city and world in general. I have a template made that I can put into the new world, however when I try to import it MC edit keeps locking up on me. Is there a way to copy the world itself without completely locking up the program? At this point I'm not sure what else I can do.

My apologies I wasn't aware of that when it comes to jars. Is there a tutorial or anything on the site that I can use to show me how to export the city? Sorry for the noob question I'm still green when it comes to anything other than laying and throwing the blocks down.

I'll have to check that script out. I had a back up copy of my worlds saved to my flash drive and everything that I kept for backup just incase I lost the original data. I tried copying that from my flash drive to the file location. When I updated it it's saying that my server is returning an invalid ID and it won't let me connect to my old world anymore. I guess I should've been a bit more specific.

My main concern is a city I've been working on for a few months in the world.

Also I don't think I have the original 1.8 jar anymore. I'll try the script first and see. If that doesn't work is there a way to get a 1.8 jar?

So after I downloaded the new update and what not I can't use my old world data anymore. I'm just curious, is there anything I can do to get my old world data working. I've put quite a bit of time and work into the world I'm trying to save and I would like to keep going with it. Any and all help is much appreciated.
