Elo releases things when they are finished and as bug-free as possible.

Elo also rarely if ever communicates with the community, it has always been like this.

Big mc updates mean big bugs to fix, and repeated mc updates don't make this easier.

There are plenty of us who AREN'T ignorant and can patiently (albeit slightly begrudgingly) wait for the new RP, everyone else needs to have a slice of humble pie and realize how difficult and frustrating updating can be especially when you also have a real life with real life things to deal with.

I've run into a bug that causes my vis tanks to lose vis when I exit and reload my world. It seemed to start when I set up a seal portal to access my vis smelting room. Occasionally when I portal'd to this room I would get a missing chunk and part of my tank system would appear invisible. Everything was still there, i could mouse over the tanks to see the storage levels. After that I noticed that every time I exited and reopened my world my storage tanks would all be reverted to a previous state, regardless of whether or not they were more of less full before I closed the world. I then tried knocking empty tanks off the top of the system to see what effect it would have. It turns out that every time I chop off the empty tanks then close and reopen my world, the remaining tanks load with less vis/taint in them. I took some screencaps of this:

    1) Storage system

2)Storage system with a few tanks removed

    3)Storage system after world reload
    http://img19.imagesh...50611093224.png
4)Storage system with more tanks removed

5)Storage system after world reload again
    http://img823.images...50611101550.png

I don't know what could be causing this. For now I'm going to try rebuilding the entire system somewhere else.

Just wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this problem. I finished relocating the entire system but I still have vis/taint disappearing from my tanks when I close and reload the world. The only other mods I'm using are redpower2, buildcraft, ic2, forestry, and nei. I think I'm going to start a fresh world and eventually see if the this problem carries over, that way I'd know if something's gone wrong with my save or if it's something else.

I'm so hyped for the redpower computers and programming in minecraft. I know it's a way off especially if/when minecraft goes stable before it's out, but man you're doing some really awesome things with this game. Keep it up!

    Quote from Obsidianminer

I was still having nightmares of the weeping angels after the series ended, so theres no chance im using this mod, but it is as awesome as me. :smile.gif:

The best way to overcome fears is to embrace them!

The most terrifying dream I ever had was getting surrounded by weeping angels. I woke up petrified and with my hands out in front of me (in my dream my last action was trying to strangle one of them). I couldn't go back to sleep for hours. In retrospect it was an awesomely constructed dream, and I rarely have nightmares anymore so anything that does THAT to me must be pretty awesome. I'm definitely using this mod. Love scary stuff.

Is it possible to add an option in the config to only allow sleep at night? I'd prefer this, it's more realistic. It creates a rhythm of working during the day gathering ores and planting seeds, then starting the smelting process before going to sleep at night. Being able to sleep at any time kind of breaks this rhythm. Sure, it's convenient, but it spoils some of the survival aura of minecraft when you can just sleep whenever you want.

I used to be a purist, and I especially disliked HD texture packs, before I found this. The art style is brilliant, it suits the minecraft world in such a weird way, I love it, and it's so easy on the eyes. It makes any [unsupported] mod content look so bland.

posted a message on [1.9] Ender Pearls - The REAL Use
I like the idea of using ender pearls to teleport somehow. Suppose it functioned like an escape rope?

You craft together 8 ender pearls and 1 string like so:
    E-E-E
    E-S-E
    E-E-E
And create an "ender charm", effectively a 8 ender pearls strung together as a bracelet.

The charm is a one-time-use item that, when equipped and right clicked, will instantly teleport the player to the surface. The place you teleport to will be the first space directly upward which is both capable of fitting the player and is exposed to direct sun/moon light. The teleport is accompanied by a brief flurry of nether-portal-y purple particles.

Think about how many times you go spelunking, dig up tons of ores and valuables, and get completely lost. Or worse, you're lost and low on health. Having an item like this with you could mean the difference between life and death. Although you might just teleport up into the night only to be killed by night-time mobs, so it's recommended to bring a gold watch with you as well as your nether charm.

posted a message on Is it steel or iron?
    Quote from AxeX1606 »
If you want to be realistic, its steel. iron + coal = steel.

But then you got to ask the question, what is it when you don't use coal? =O

It's still the same thing, because you're still creating a carbon alloy (wood has carbon, lava has carbon, I think). But realistically, while you're making a carbon alloy, you aren't making steel, you're making wrought iron. Wrought iron is superior to plain iron because it is an alloy, but it's primitive, far inferior to steel, and is riddled with impurities. To make steel you not only need a controlled introduction of coke (carbon) but oxygen, ie some way to inject air directly into the molten iron. Blast furnaces do this.

posted a message on Obsidian should break faster.
I prefer to mine all my obsidian, save on iron and time travelling and just sit with my diamond pickaxe and a bucket of water, and kill the time by watching some youtube LPs, or listening to an audiobook. At the moment I've got about 8 stacks of obsidian, I figure I'll need it eventually, or I can built with it. It's actually pretty nice relaxing with some videos or an audiobook and mining in the background.

System type: Windows 7 x64 Home Premium
    Processor: Phenom II x4 955 (3.2ghz)
    Graphics card: Nvidia 9600gt
Do you ever lag? Very often. Not a framerate drop, just a constant choppiness. It makes navigating hell while dodging ghast fireballs nearly impossible.

Same. The update added LOTS of great new stuff to see, but not that much new stuff to do. So after you've seen it all, it starts getting stale again. Those new environments were a big hurdle though, and now that they're in place notch can build off them and add new things to do, perhaps biome-specific blocks and enemies, rare biomes, etc. The groundwork is there, now hopefully we'll start seeing fun new additions to the minecraft world.
