Aug 14, 2010I cannot decide which one looks best. I know none of them look great in this statePosted in: Alpha - Survival Single Player
basically I'm making a giant cube with 4 sides of stairs, and spiral staircases in each corner
the ones with half stairs have the advantage of having a pillar in the middle of the spiral staircase (looks better imo), but the other 2 have the advantage of constant material.
I CANNOT DECIDE!!

That ^ spiral staircase requires jumping, but descending the stairs in the pic below cause head hitting...

thanks for taking the time to read lol
such a cool game
edit: wtf is this!
Jul 6, 2010that might work for a realistic mode or something legoss, or notch could add sprinting and an endurance meter and we'd have S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and lots of other games. mostly just seems annoyingPosted in: Suggestions
Mystify's idea is good though, switched my vote from a straight no :smile.gif:

Oh haha, well done there. Hilarious. Indeed, this is all about those of us wanting to use less of our space for no reason at all and not about possible gameplay changes. It's as if we don't care about the game and just want people to suffer for no reason, finding a problem in carrying 10 pickaxes for no real reason as if that was intended for the game. Truly sir, you hold a sarcastic wit that is above us all.
People did provide reasons "gameplay changes?" such as the need to use minecarts and for more of a challenge, both of which can be accomplished by simply not allowing yourself full use of your inventory...
if this is about adding a backpack then whatever. it seems like a dumb idea as it adds about 5 seconds of new gameplay, and then afterwards you just have a bunch of pointless space to carry 10 pickaxes as if that was intended for the backpack or something.
btw carrying a lot of pickaxes can save a ton of time. feel free to try it out :smile.gif:
Jul 5, 2010protip: If you want smaller inventories, don't allow yourself to use the whole thing. wow you guys are dumbPosted in: Suggestions
don't **** over the rest of us who enjoy carrying 10 pickaxes
Jun 30, 2010surprised I couldn't find any threads about thisPosted in: Suggestions
are there any plans to make the map have a higher ceiling. raise the clouds as well obv
don't know how hard it would be
it sucks when mountains get cut off
idk I just always wanna build stuff higher
Jun 28, 2010Posted in: SuggestionsYou should consider that others may have more experience than you in certain fields. I hate to come off as a jerk, but I despise arrogance. It's a pet peeve of mine when somebody is wrong, they refuse to admit it, and bafflingly are grossly determined to remain ignorant. It enrages me.
so many problems with this technique
The biggest issue though imo is that there will always be parts of the map that aren't generated effecting parts that are.
Kinda kills the whole realism factor =P
sorry didn't notice old topic
Jun 28, 2010yeah I get all thatPosted in: Suggestions
great idea btw
but by not flowing into a pool I mean it can't form a pool
like a spring on top of a perfectly flat plateau
would the water just go in every direction and create 100 more waterfalls?
I assume it would stop flowing out once the first block has a place to flow down, and then I guess the extra water could just keep flowing without a source. I supposed I've solved my own problem =D
unless all the flowing water in every direction finds a place to flow down at the same time. (lol) guess a dice roll would suffice in that situation
hope this was more clear
Jun 27, 2010Little Suggestion:Posted in: Suggestions
It would probably be good to have slightly less underground springs; especially with
Larger Suggestion: (which might be too hard to code/slow things down)
But it would be amazing if you could "stack" water sources to create deeper pools. The sources would obviously have to not be touching one another (will explain further if needed)
upon further thought make it easier for griefing =( but it might be worth it so we have a way to fill larger pools
on a side note. MORE ABOVE GROUND SPRINGS =D
Upon thinking of that I am slightly confused how the water will flow when it's not flowing into a pool.
It seems like the only options are:
1. Look weird. Flow out in every direction until it finds a lower level then leave the rest of the water there, or have it evaporate??
1.b Or all the math for that could be done beforehand, but I don't know how slow that would be.
2. erode the ground (lol?)
