posted a message on Enderman Farm useless...
Using an xray machine/glitch will help you find pockets of Endermen. Like PixelDaises said, there could be lots of hidden areas under the edges of the island or even in the middle. Fortunately the Endermen's eyes kind of glow so they are easy to see from a distance using the xray.

According to 4Js tweet today, it sounds like it has pretty much passed Cert testing, Idk about you guys, but I'm going to expect it sometime between friday and tuesday

You mean the tweet that says "As soon as we know when TU12 is coming out, we'll let you know."
I think that is more of a "get off our back and quit asking us" sort of tweet than it is any indication of passing cert testing.

posted a message on Generate Structures On vs. Off
I was a part of the confusion in the other thread and realized after I posted that dungeons do spawn with generate structures off. Thanks for doing the work to get a real answer.

Is it possible that when you generated the world you unchecked the "generate structures" options? If so, then you will not have naturally spawned villages, a stronghold (so no End portal), mine shafts, or dungeons.

posted a message on Are these both pictures of the new Tutorial world?
The more I look at these two pictures the more I am convinced that the castle in the background is exactly the same (minus the flag and minecraft sign, of course). The terrain around them has changed a bit (especially the addition of the jungle on the left. Here are some key points of reference that I see are identical.

I didn't circle the stone wall in the middle, but it is identical as well. I am convinced that the background buildings are identical in the two pictures. I think the structures I circled are the same and their relative positions are the same. I think they copied the structures using a dev kit, put it into the new terrain generation and added the foreground items to show off new features.

I also think none of this really matters, but it is interesting to discuss! (and I can't believe I just took the time to do this...)

I often use a bucket of water to get into a ravine. You can leave the water source block at the top to swim back up or you can collect the source block and ride the water down as it disappears so you still have your bucket of water. I always carry at least one bucket of water with me. It has saved me on a number of occasions. Last night I was working around my Mayan city area which has numerous large netherack torches on the ground surrounded by stairs to make them look good. I kept backing up to look at what I was building and stepping right into the fire! Bucket of water saved me every time.

By the way, If you like learning more about minecraft, I suggest checking out Etho's channel on youtube. He plays on the computer, but his earlier videos apply to Xbox. He is a really smart minecraft player and is fun to watch. I also enjoy watching BdoubleO and VintageBeef for their building skills and entertainment value. They all play on the Mindcrack server which is a fun group of people to watch, and Etho and BdoubleO have their own LP's as well.

Lol - that might explain your logical approach to gaming and life, but I think your politeness and positive attitude is simply the product being of a good person.

I have found that using my overworld map in the nether is quite helpful. It still shows coordinates so I can just check where my portal is and anything else I find. Once you have the coordinates it is much easier to find things. The map portion is useless, but I think that's true of the "nether map" as well. All you need are the coordinates. The nether map will at least have an indicator showing your location, but as you quoted above, that indicator spins so it can't tell you which direction you're facing.

I like how logical you are about your game play. Minecraft is appealing on so many different levels.

I was looking at 4j's twitter feed and noticed a reference to the amazon.co.uk listing for Minecraft Xbox 360 and I followed the link. Here is a picture from that amazon listing:

and here is a picture from 4J's twitter feed showing the new tutorial world:

It seems like the buildings in the background of the 2nd picture are the same buildings in first picture. Does anyone else think these are pics of the same world - the new tutorial world?

(you can find the first picture here)

posted a message on the end, spawn pad, fall damage question
    Quote from IAMBaldur888

The end portal room has not been significantly changed so there is lava under the portal. The hole i have to fall into the end portal is 3x3 so it's a nine block opening so you can see the whole portal from the top.

So you go through the water slowing you then drop into the end portal? As stated in the above post the hole i have encompasses the entire portal opening so it's 3x3.

yes and it works great. The water ends about 3 blocks above the portal surface. The sign on sign idea from rush should do the trick for you.

posted a message on the end, spawn pad, fall damage question
I fall about 40 blocks in to my portal and used to die from fall damage in the End. I put a sign at the bottom of my shaft with two water source blocks on top and it works great now.

I'll try mine again starting with it empty. I had been working in the End when I started and it was pretty full to start with. I think I have 8 levels with pistons on 2 sides and each level is about 14 blocks long. It has been producing much better results with the new reset I added. Seems to keep it in peak performance.
