Well, we should have more sympathy for kids dying in Africa than we should than with these internet cowards.Oh no! A completely random person called you stupid on the internet?!? That must be horrible, even more horrible than what people in Africa have to endure.

Yep. While we're at it, we should close off support for those suffering from depression or anxiety disorders.
    Because, y'know, kids in Africa.

Let's also shut down student loan services, and movements for more affordable education.
    Because, y'know, kids in Africa.

Let's also lift bans on discrimination of others.
    Because, y'know, kids in Africa.

It's already been stated before but cyber bullying is a repeat action. It's a hell of a lot more than someone randomly calling you stupid in a chatroom. It can also bleed into the real world, and also has both effects and consequences in the real world. You can't just "block" a humiliating video or photo that's being circulated on multiple social networks, by multiple people, or "block" a group of students using social media as a means to coordinate attacks on someone. There's a reason the authorities eventually get involved in these sorts of situations, and there's a reason people can't just walk away. There was one time where I came across a photo someone was circulating from another school of this kid who was beaten up at school, had his clothes torn up, and was tied to a chair using gym ropes, and had rolled up socks stuffed in his mouth. You're saying he's a coward for feeling upset about that?

I love how you totally disregard the fact people have different thresholds of tolerance. I love how you completely disregard the fact that there are people who suffer from psychological conditions and disorders that make them more prone to the effects of bullying. I love how you disregard the fact that cyberbullying is often used alongside physical bullying in the real world. I love how you completely disregard the people whose bullying originates from aspects of their life that they can't change (divorced/remarried parents, gender, race, sexual orientation, disabilities, disorders).

And while we're at it, please just ditch the "at least you don't have it as bad as X" comments. It's literally the same as someone telling you not to grieve over a dead friend, because at least you didn't lose a family member. You're paralyzed from the neck-down? At least you have health care! You're in constant pain due to chronic illness? At least you're still alive! Stop complaining! People have it worse!

    Just stop.

Well, there's so many kids on the Internet, but they might not know about the block button. I also don't see why people just over react. In school a few days ago, we had a discussion about cyber bullying, and we read a little story about a girl on a social network getting impersonated, and she told her dad, they printed out the posts, and gave then to their school principal. Yeah, in situations like that, it seems like there's nothing else to do, but there is. She just could have changed her account password.
The people who told us about bullying, and they said, because of cyber bullying, suicide rates are going up, I don't mean to offend anyone when I say this, but, why? Why would kids and young teens take their own life because of it. I just don't get it. Yeah, it would drive them to no end, but that doesn't mean they can end it all, if it was between taking your own life, and staying alive with friends and family, I would choose the second one. Some kids and young teens just over react sometimes.

It's just part of that stage in everyone's lives. For some, adolescence can seem like an emotional rollercoaster, and when you factor in different levels of emotional and psychological stability, along with the raging hormones, there's a lot more variance than you'd expect. A lot of the time, the really damaging cyberbullying events are the ones that bleed into the real world, and aren't simply solved by changing a password or hitting a block button, and when it starts to turn a massive number of people against you, it can get real easy to feel isolated or targeted.

That's not to say I agree with suicide. It's a horrible way to go, and a really poor decision to make.

I'm starting to wonder if a mod should just sticky a "Who is your favourite youtuber" thread, because there's literally a new thread for it every month. :T

posted a message on Where do you get life advice/counselling/venting on the internet?
I suppose you could google some online support centers? Maybe even see if there are some in your area that have a drop-in office, if you can't find any reliable ones online. Also if you're in highschool or university, there should definitely be a student counseling office for this sort of thing.

If you could go into a little more detail, what kind of life advice are you looking for exactly?

    Quote from zbozman

No offense... but honestly... if you have a crush on a youtuber... you really have no life...

    Proof:
-Youtubers put on a show when recording. for all you know they could actually be terrible people.
-This kind of goes hand in hand with #1... but you don't actually know that person... they may seem cool in videos but be someone who you actually cannot stand in real life.
-If you develop a crush on a youtuber... well... Too much youtube for you...

Dude, it's natural to feel attracted to someone. It all boils down to how you view it and manage it. There's nothing wrong with having a crush on a youtuber or a celebrity, or anyone with any kind of notoriety for that matter. It only becomes a problem if you obsess over it, or start working hooking up with them into your life's goals.

You think that just because I have a slight crush on a youtuber, that I disconnect myself from reality, and relentlessly pursue that person? Nope. I just treat it as what it is. A feeling. I see desirable qualities in that person. That doesn't mean I need to try and hook up with them. I have a life of my own to lead, and more realistic goals to attain.

Harry made this thread just for some fun. There's no reason for you to talk down to people, and tell them they have no life, when you know zilch about them, and are just making assumptions.

I'm more of a vodka and rum person, but I have a little love for darker beers. They've got an interesting but appealing flavor for me, despite the bitterness.

    Quote from engie_ninja

To be honest? English. Generally, you'd have normal grammar when you turn 12. I certainly did. But no, you still have to learn English because "ermagerd sherrkshphurr".

Fun fact. Our grade 10 English teacher felt it was necessary to go over grammar and punctuation exercises. Not because she was unrealistic though. It was because literally half the class's grammar was that bad. It was something she did on a limb after we handed in a major written assignment.
