posted a message on QuantumFlux - Wireless RF [2.0.2]

A couple of questions: Is there a GUI for the RF Exciter? I've been breaking them to see how many Exciter Upgrades I added to it. Also, is there a faster way to add Exciter Upgrades to the Exciter? Adding 25 or so Upgrades one by one to a couple dozen Exciters becomes a bit tedious. And then, if I'm not careful to keep track of which Exciters I added the Upgrades to, and if I don't carefully count the Upgrades as I add them, I have to break the Exciter and start over again.

So, two suggestions: If there is no GUI for the RF Exciter, please consider adding one (but I'm sure it's something you are already planning to do). Also, in that GUI, please consider adding a slot where up to a stack of Exciter Upgrades can be added at once, and please consider adding to that GUI a display that reports the number of upgrades added as well as the resulting effect on the RF throughput).

I really enjoy QuantumFlux. I make extensive use of it. Thank you so much for coding it.

posted a message on Progressive Automation - Upgradeable Machines

    Another question/issue:

I am playing FtB Horizons: Daybreaker v1.02 which by default uses ProgressiveAutomation-1.7.10-1.6.16. That is the version of Progressive Automation I was using until just a moment ago when I tried to input wheat to an Animal Breeder and realized that nothing (not a vanilla hopper attached to any side of the Breeder, not an Extra Utilities transfer pipe, not a Mekanism's advanced logistical transporter pipe) would insert the wheat into the Breeder. Up until now, I had already built a fully self-contained Progressive Automation tree farm and wheat farm. What I mean is, and this is the point of this post, that I was using Mekanism's logistical transport pipes attached to the bottom of Progressive Automation's Crafter because that seemed to be the only way to ensure that only the crafted item would be pulled out and not either the fuel or crafting ingredients. Also, I had used both Mekanism's logistical transport pipes attached to the sides of Crafters to pump recipe items in, and I had used Extra Utilities transfer pipes attached to the sides of Breeders to pump tools in. Until now, everything pumped into Progressive Automation machines seemed to know where it was meant to go.

Then I got to the point in the build where I was going to pump wheat into the Breeders (to close the circle on the fully self-contained animal breeding farm). Nothing I tried was successful in pumping items into the Breeder. I looked to the Github to see if there was an update for Progressive Automation. I saw ProgressiveAutomation-1.7.10-1.6.24 was recently released so I downloaded it and installed it. Now, my Progressive Automation machines are not filling up as before. The machines no longer seem to know where items are supposed to go. When I pump a hoe into a Planter, the first hoe goes into the tool slot, but now the pipes no longer think the machine is full, so more hoes are pumped in and fill the Planter's inventory slots. The same thing happened to the Chopper. Prior to updating, I had an Extra Utilities transfer pipe pumping axes into the side of the Chopper. The transfer pipe would stop pumping the moment there was an axe in the Chopper's tool slot. Now after updating, the Chopper's tool slot fills with one axe but then continues to fill its inventory slots with axes. Also, I still do not see a way to get wheat to pump into the "tool" slot of the Breeder. Wheat pumped into the Breeder seems to only go into the inventory slot.

Perhaps there is a simple fix: Add another setting to the wrench. The wrench already has a setting for "Fuel Input" and "Input". Maybe adding a setting "Tool Input" would solve these problems.

I have a quick question/suggestion. I am really, really enjoying this mod. I'm playing FtB Horizons: Daybreaker (1.7.10). Attached are pictures of the overground and underground of my fully automated and self-contained tree farm.

With my tree farm fully automated, I started on my cow farm. I crafted a pair of Killers and two pairs of those complementary upgrades (Animal and Adult). I added one of each of the upgrades to one of my Killers when I was suddenly set upon by a horde of angry mobs. Then I noticed some endermen in the distance so I went after them because I need pearls. Fully distracted, I went back to my cow farm. I completely forgot which of the Killers I had added the upgrades to. I broke the Killers to retrieve the upgrades. So my question is this: Is there a way to know, via some GUI perhaps, which upgrades or how many upgrades are in a Progressive Automation machine without breaking the machine? If not, I suggest it. Thank you for coding this very fun mod!

posted a message on Will MC ever transition from Java to something more GPU-friendly?
I've been playing MC since it was a web browser game because I love it. I play games like Thief, Skyrim, Hitman Absolution, Saints Row IV, Assassin's Creed IV, and others on this pc, and they run quite smoothly. I have no complaints with those games regarding performance. I know the reason for that is because those games are dependent on the GPU much more than the CPU. It is my understanding that Java is the opposite, and MC runs poorly on my pc because of it. In fact, it seems that MC runs worse and worse for me with every new edition.

I've tried all the usual MC suggestions to improve performace (various java parameters, Optifine) but, although those things help a little, none of them result in a smooth MC gaming experience for me. I know there is little I can do about it besides buying a better pc, but I must ask: Will there ever be a Minecraft written not in Java but in such a way that takes advantage of strong GPU's?

I need very basic help. Actually, I need some understanding. I have MC 1.7.10. I want to create a new world. I have installed the Realistic World Gen Alpha mod and Biomes o' Plenty mod, and I want to create a new world that generates biomes using both of those mods at the same time. I am confused when I get to the "World Type" option. Which world type do I choose in order to get both RWG and BOP at the same time?

I seem to be unable to use subsets. When I click the NEI Subsets button at the top center, nothing happens. It's as if the button was disabled or something. I've searched the thread for a fix but nothing I've found has helped. There's no crash or anything, it just...doesn't work. I have NEI locked in Recipe mode.

I have exactly the same problem. Everything else with NEI works, but clicking the NEI Subsets button does nothing. I tried the suggestions in this thread but none of them solved this problem. I'm using Forge build 1.7.2-, NotEnoughItems-1.7.2-1.0.1-universal, CodeChickenCore-1.7.2-1.0.0-universal, and neiaddons-mc172- (and a handful of other Forge mods). I hope someone figures this out.

I know BWG 4 for 1.7.2 is still under construction, but I want to mention that I have BiomesOPlenty-1.7.2- and BWG4-1.2.0g, but I don't think BWG4-1.2.0g recognizes the newer versions of BOP. I expected to see BOP listed as one of the world generation choices when I chose BWG4 as my world type and clicked the "Customize" button. I see four categories there (Old, Extreme, Fun, and Enhanced), but none for BOP.

I love BWG so much that I won't bother to make a new world without it. I eagerly await a fully developed BWG.

A few questions regarding TreeCapitator and Natura's Redwood trees.

First, a little background: I am using Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 and Java 8 (build 1.8.0-ea-b116) while playing MC 1.6.4 SSP via Minecraft Launcher 1.3.6 with Forge 953, [1.6.4]bspkrsCorev5.0, [1.6.4]TreeCapitator.Forge.1.6.4.r06.Universal, Natura_1.6.4_2.1.12d3, and many other Forge mods.

I am a long time user and huge fan of TreeCapitator. I haven't asked this question in well over a year, but a situation has presented itself which has made me curious to learn some up-to-date information considering how much more robust TreeCapitator is now as compared to over a year ago. It's a compund question, so I apologize for that, but here goes: Does TreeCapitator enable an entire Natura Redwood tree to be felled, or do the outer branches still remain floating? When last I asked this question, I believe the response was that the branches remain because of something on Natura's end. If that is still the case, is there a way to compensate for that in the TreeCapitator config? If not, what is it about Natura that could be changed to allow TreeCapitator to fell an entire Redwood tree, branches, leaves, and all, the way TreeCapitator works on every other tree?

I would simply disable those trees but they are so cool to look at. But as amazing as they are to behold, I still would like the option to cut them down if they are in the way. My fellow bee breeders might agree, considering how large an area of the sky those floating branches can block from the view of an apiary. Thank you for your time and consideration.

I use ~200 mods 1.6.4 pack and after some time nei search for no obvious reason stop working. It simply ignores whatever I input. It stays in such state until i reboot minecraft but soon it happens again.

Sounds exactly like the problem I had after installing Thermal Expansion (which was the last mod I installed after having 140+ mods working well). You can see my original post here. More importantly, you can see my follow-up post that contains the error message here. Anyway, the "fix" for the problem turned out to be removing the Energy Manipulation v1.1.8 mod whose filename is "EM1.6.4 1.1.8.zip". After removing that mod, I haven't had a problem with NEI searches ever since. I take no credit for the solution. A sharp-eyed and patient member of another forum spotted the error, discovered the fix, and posted his findings. I thank him for it.

A follow-up to my post (#1466) regarding NEI searches failing to work after what appears to be a random number of searches and/or times that items were cheated in. (The actual item cheated in appears to be irrelevant.)

A sharp-eyed user on another forum and I have gotten the exact same error in the ForgeModLoader log immediately after the NEI search stops working. Several of us on that forum are working out our personal ore generation preferences. It appears that both he and I have in common the fact that we both have disabled all TE ore generation.

    Here is that error --

Two odd happenings to report. NEI searches stop working, and log file creation runs wild. (I apologize for the wall of text, but I know verbosity is sometimes preferred over taciturnity by the modders).

    First some background info --
I am using Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 and Java 8 (build 1.8.0-ea-b116) while playing MC 1.6.4 SSP via Minecraft Launcher 1.3.4 with Forge 953, CoFHCore-2.0.0.b7a, ThermalExpansion-3.0.0.b7a, CodeChickenCore, NotEnoughItems, neiaddons-1.6.2-1.9.3.r47, NEIPlugins-, MystNEI-Plugin-1.6.4-, and many other Forge mods in their most up-to-date versions. (Please note: the issues I am about to mention have also happened with the very same MC build with Java 7 u45).

With CoFHCore and TE3 installed into my build, everything runs fine. I cheated in some TE3 blocks just to see them, played with them for a bit, and broke them to remove them from my world. I built a single aqueous accumulator which fills an ender tank. That is the only TE3 block I have in my world now. All well and good. And here comes the problem. I search NEI for the recipe of some random non-TE3 things and set out to build them. I search for another item or two. I build them. I go back into NEI again, I type something into the seach bar but this time nothing happens. The item I searched for earlier is still displayed on the right no matter what I type into the seach. I clear the search bar and still nothing happens. I close MC, relaunch MC, load up my world. NEI searches work each time I reload my world for about the first two or three searches, and then they stop working. I can still press "R" to see recipes of items in my inventory. I can still drop items into the right side of the NEI display to remove them from my world. I can click the NEI menu bar at the top and scroll through the mod items. Everything about NEI seems to work just fine even after the searches stop working. I remove TE3, launch MC, load up my world, and the NEI issue goes away.

So here's the second strange thing. When I went to remove TE3, I noticed dozens of files in my MC folder that were not there previously. ForgeModLoader-client-0.log, ForgeModLoader-client-0.log.1, and ForgeModLoader-client-0.log.1.lck. They were about 90 of these, numbered up to about log.45. There were also many output-client.log.1 files, numbers up to about log.25. Same for output-server.log.1. I deleted all of them but most of them returned after playing MC with TE3 for about an hour. I did that three times, most of the files returned each time. It seems the longer I played the more of those files were there. (It might be important to note that I deleted a dozen or more sets of LogisticsPipes-Request.log.1 and LogisticsPipes-Request.log.1.lck files each time as well). I removed TE3, deleted those log files, played again, and only the usual two or three sets of those log files were created.

    posted a message on [1.5.x / 1.6.x] Applied Energistics [ rv 13 c ] - Exploiting Quantum Mechanics
A question about functionality. I'm looking to recreate with AE what I had with Logistics Pipes.

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 and Java 7u40 while playing MC 1.6.4 SSP via Minecraft Launcher 1.3.3 with Forge 953, Applied Energistics Rv14 Dev 2, and many other Forge mods.

I'm a longtime fan of Logistics Pipes. I used to have an ender chest in my base that kept a full stack of various items that I used frequently. That chest would have one stack of steak, one stack of oak logs, one stack of redstone dust, and so on. I had Supplier Logistics Pipes attached to an ender chest in the basement. Each of those pipes could supply a specified amount for nine different items. I'd attach three or four Supplier Pipes to that chest so that I could have a full stack of at least 27 different items. I had the matching ender chest in a central location in my base. Open that chest, take out what I needed, and the chest would instantly refill itself with exactly one stack of each item. A quick way to grab five steak and run. You can imagine all the uses for such a thing. Where ever I dropped down a matching ender chest, there I would have a constant supply of whatever I needed.

I'm trying to recreate that ender chest with AE. I'm not an expert with AE, but I immediately thought of placing ME Export Buses on an ender chest. The slots don't seem to allow more than one of each item. I can add cobblestone to a slot but then I get a chest full of cobblestone. I thought perhaps there might be a setting that would allow me to specify the amount I want to export. There doesn't seem to be. Then I thought there might be an ME Advanced Export Bus that would allow me to specify amounts (if there isn't an Advanced Export Bus, there should be). There doesn't seem to be one. I played around a bit with level emitters but I don't think that is what I'm looking for, I'm not really sure. Is there a way to recreate this ender chest system with AE?

    Bug to report:

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 and Java 7u40 while playing MC 1.6.4 SSP via Minecraft Launcher 1.3.1 with Forge 953, Translocator, CodeChickenCore, MineFactoryReloaded-2.7.3B1-159 (MFR 159), PowerCrystalsCore-1.1.8-9, and several other Forge mods (all in their most up-to-date versions). I built an MFR Breeder and an Enderchest, placed them next to each other, attached an Item Translocator to each. Wheat was flowing from the Translocator on the chest to the Translocator on the Breeder very reliably as of MineFactoryReloaded-2.7.3B1-149 (MFR 149). The Translocators stopped sending items into the Breeder (and any other MFR machine) as of MFR 150.

I mentioned that fact over in the MFR thread in this forum. MFR author Skyboy acknowledged the issue and seemed to suggest that the problem lies with Translocators. Perhaps someone who is in contact with ChickenBones can mention this bug to him.

Here's an screenshot of the Breeder-Enderchest with Item Translocators -

Previous issue remains, and now Item Translocators are not sending items into MFR machines.

Please see post #265. I am now using the same setup except that I've upgraded to Forge 953 and MineFactoryReloaded-2.7.3B1-153. I'm also using Translocator and CodeChickenCore

With MFR 153, the previous issue is still with us. The Comparator does not detect a drop in the amount of wheat in the inventory of the Breeder when the Breeder uses the wheat to breed my cows. I manually filled the Breeder to the point where the Comparator sends out a 3-power signal (the 3-power threshhold happens to be 77 wheat). When I manually add the wheat one at a time to the Breeder, the Comparator instantly detects the addition of the 77th wheat to the Breeder's inventory. Immediately, the Comparator properly sends out a 3-power signal to a power inverter which cancels the redstone signal to the Breeder (see image below), allowing the Breeder to operate. The Breeder instantly uses 10 wheat from its inventory, dropping the inventory count to 67 wheat which is below the Comparator's 3-power output threshhold. The Comparator should then power down to a 2-power output but it does not. I allow the Breeder to run another cycle of breeding to see what happens. Ten more wheat are used (after which 57 wheat remain in the Breeder's inventory) but the Comparator's output remains at the 3-power signal of the 77 wheat threshhold. In fact, the Comparator's output remains at a 3-power signal until the Breeder has used all of its inventory, and even still the Comparator remains at a 3-power signal. But if I manually add or remove wheat from the Breeder's inventory at any time, the Comparator instantly and correctly recognizes the Breeder's inventory and sends out the appropriately powered signal.

Secondarily, a new issue cropped up. I have Item Translocators sending wheat from an enderchest to the Breeder. I've tested other MFR machines and none of them will accept anything from the Item Translocators. They worked in MFR 149, but they aren't working in MFR 153.
