Aim heer nao, gaiz. Today I have learned that writing bios for android isn't always easy.
Name: Alice, designation Administration and Mediation Assistance Android Mark 6.3(AMAA Mk 6.3)-1643
Occupation: A lifelike android designed to provide administrative and diplomatic assistance on military, corporate, and federal assignments. “She” can be addressed either by her casual name, Alice, or with her official designation of AMAA-1643 or AMAA Mk6.3-1643. Although she specializes in diplomacy, management, and administration, Alice is also skilled in numerous other professions such as applied and theoretical sciences, tactics, and applied sciences, she is not as skilled in such professions as those who specialize in such fields. She is trained in basic forms of combat, though only to such an extent that she can defend herself in minor situations.
Bio: Alice was created for the purpose of administration on the Olympus’s mission, in the event of a break in the chain of command. Her construction finished in the year 2172, immediately followed by her programming and special training for the (hopefully) oncoming of the mission to Invictus. Although her construction was based on the AMAA Mk. 6.0 class of androids, her design itself was drastically different in that she was designed to be self-powered for extended periods of time, using built-in piezoelectric generators and photovoltaic collectors. Despite this, though, she cannot overexert herself without requiring recharge time. Her appearance was designed specifically to make people feel comfortable around her while maintaining an aura of respect. Additionally, she was given the unusual feature of her being programmed to be able to utilize multiple personalities and mental profiles to better adapt to diplomacy or mediation with various people, though she almost always maintains the same experience and barely wears anything but her standard UN jumpsuit.
Partly due to the fact that she was designed to behave in a friendly manner, Alice is somewhat notorious for being overtly flirtatious and sometimes even sexual towards and around her inferiors and amongst civilians, despite her normally tomboyish manner of acting. She still is not incredibly forceful, and will easily back off when asked except in the event that doing so would override her primary assignment – to ensure that order remains on Invictus. She will almost constantly be trying to help others and sometimes appears to become almost excessively involved in the affairs of others, which see will always see out to the very end. She has not yet been activated since being placed on the Olympus, although most any military officer should be able to activate her relatively easily.
Since the breakup of the Olympus, she remains one of the most advanced pieces of technology that survived the breakup of the colony ship, and it is yet unknown what the true extent of the damage she received truly is.
I did work something out with Hugs, in terms of its plot, actually. In essence, the android/AI is in a mediation/coordination role, being programmed at the base to keep thngs in order. Eventually, once things start going to hell in a handbasket, she's unable to keep order using base programming and becomes aggressively obsessed with keeping order. It'll help people, sure, but anyways who messes with its twisted idea of keeping order gets the axe, so to speak.
I don't necessarily agree. If you are going to use androids for anything, it will be social roles. Interpreters, companions, caretakers, lovebots. That sort of thing. The only thing you really gain from having a lifelike android is its ability to mimic human depth. You don't need that in a soldier.
But for war, you want something else. Something with as few weak-points as you can get away with. Something that you can armor easily, and can use a variety of built-in weapons. Something maneuverable. Effective war-bots will not look much like humans.
I'd be just as fine doing any of those things with an android/AI. How would you feel about one in an administrative, coordination-related, or mediation role?
I was thinking something similar, more along the lines of taking an AI and putting it into a human-like body. For example, you might have an AI or android that's designed for administrative or archival duties, so the body she/he/it is put into isn't designed for combat or heavy lifting. One that's designed for combat is probably going to have a body that more closely resembles a bodybuilder, and, although it can adapt as any proper AI can, its base code is oriented more towards combat and tactics.
Alright, guys, need your opinions on what I should play.
1. A UN disease research team - sorta like a futuristic WHO. Due to the poor conditions on Earth, they'd be extremely strict regarding quarantine and eradication policy, oftentimes reacting to even smaller outbreaks with total quarantine. Due to their extreme policies, they are known to obtain assistance from peacekeepers in capturing, quarantining, and sometimes eradicating groups of infected. They are not currently armed, though they do possess extensive knowledge of biological and chemical warfare.
2. An elite "peacekeeping" unit created for the purpose of eliminating unrest, halting treasonous activity, and preventing subversion of UN government. If you've played WH40k, they're very similar to the Imperium's Inquisition. Although they could fight hostile aliens, their main purpose is to keep people under the UN's power without people knowing. They wear the mask of being standard peacekeepers.
3. Another, probably larger, unit of UN military engineers. Equipped for some degree of infantry combat, but they primarily specialize in constructing fortifications and piloting vehicles. If the situation arises, they will be building defences around some installations as required. Although, on that note, I have thought about just playing a single engineer or the pilot of an exoskeleton, tank, or another such vehicle.
Loving the look of it now. Much more refined than before. Perhaps I'll sign up as a private military contractor or a mining conglomerate that tagged along to assist with establishing steady production and to secure monopoly on the colony. I do have some questions, though.
Is the Olympus travelling un-escorted?
Does the security council still exist? If so, what are its current members?
How extensive is the security on the ship? Would there be private contractors, peacekeepers, or national militaries providing security?
Are there going to be infectious disease teams onboard? Seeing how poor the conditions are on Earth, would it be reasonable to presume that disease quarantine, control, and eradication might be more extreme in policy, especially considering they're visiting a colony on an alien planet that went dark?

I'm here. It's okay. You can stop crying now.
In all seriousness, has much discussion taken place on the use of AIs/Androids so far?
