Am I wrong, or does Thaumic Tinkerer contain a lot of god items?

posted a message on Thaumcraft add-ons?

    Hi all,

I'm interested in playing Thaumcraft for the first time and I've noticed that there are quite a few add-ons available for it; I'm interested in using some, but I'm specifically after stuff that doesn't supercede or render obsolete everything in Thaumcraft itself (some of the add-ons I've glanced at seem to have a bit of power creep occuring in them, things like wands and staves ten times as powerful as anything you encounter in the core mod, etc.). Anyone have any suggestions for Thaumcraft add-ons that don't overshadow Thaumcraft itself too heavily?

    Thanks.

The Potion#liquidColor field stores the potion's colour. The field is final, so it can't be modified by normal means; look at FinalFieldHelper to see how this can be done.

If this PR is merged, you should be able to use the substitution alias system to replace the vanilla Potion instances.

Hmm, okay. Would it be easier (or possible) to change the vanilla recipes for brewing particular potions to add a CustomPotionColor value?

    Hi all,

I'm interested in creating a mod to change the default colour values of the vanilla potions, but I'm not sure where to start; would anyone be able to point me to some relevant tutorials?

    Thanks.

Here it is, the simple way. If there is nothing left to do, make a new world. By far the end is not boring in my opinion. It gives a dimension where you do need to deal with always hostile mobs. The outer islands introduced new blocks to play with, use those. One cannot simply say the end is boring.

Endermen are not always hostile. It's easy to avoid having to deal with a single hostile in the expanses of the End that exist between End Cities. In fact the End is less dangerous than either the Nether or the Overworld if you can keep out of the Void. I never said there was nothing left to do - there's plenty to do in Minecraft's endgame, my complaint is just that not much of it is in the End, and the End itself is sorely lacking in content compared to the other dimensions.

    LOL!

When you sleep in that bed you actually end up inside the dragon head.

I didn't even realise that they flapped their mouths when you powered them. Mine now looks like the dragon version of a Big Mouth Billy Bass.

And for a long time after the nether was first added every block was netherack (other than some glowstone decoration as I noted) and the only mobs were pigmen and ghasts. And when you think about it the end cities add at least as much content to The End as the nether fortress do to that dimension. In my estimation the only big difference when comparing to the nether are it has a couple more mobs unique to the dimension. Perhaps it's the open expanse of the dimension that gives you an impression of emptiness?

The Nether had several blocks and terrain features to break up the sameness of the landscape when it was first introduced - it was mainly netherrack with patches of soul sand and gravel, large glowstone clusters on the ceiling, and large lavafalls and lava seas. Doesn't sound like a lot, but even a small amount of variation in terrain makes it much easier to look at. Having hostile mobs around to keep you on your toes also helps to keep the scenery from being the only thing for the player to think about.

sionwicker I think your biggest issue is that your viewpoint on the other dimensions doesn't match the developers. The dimensions are more side areas where resources specific to that dimension can be found and new challenges to be overcome to get those resources.

You want a fully fleshed out content full dimension, but that's not just going to happen in one update with Mojang's small team. That's not to say that over time these dimensions will not get more diverse content, but if you can't wait perhaps there is a mod for that as others have suggested.

For context, the Nether had no nether fortresses when it was first added. It was just a place to travel by portal and battle zombie pigmen if you so desired. Then they added the fortresses, blazes, and netherwart for brewing, then later they added some loot chests and the whither skeletons for the new wither boss fight.

As I noted in my OP, I don't ever expect anywhere near the level of content in either the End or the Nether as exists in the Overworld. I understand full well that they aren't supposed to have the same amount of stuff in them. However I certainly do remember when the Nether was first implemented, and even back then it had more block types, mob encounters (and dangerous ones - Ghasts) and variation in its terrain than the End does now.

The biggest problem with the End for me is the monotony of the scenery and the lack of danger. There is simply too little variation in the terrain; every block outside of an End City is end stone, every mob outside of an End City is an Enderman which aren't even aggressive by default. The most dangerous thing in the End is the Void.

posted a message on I need my home to look better!

I'm using a tower blueprint I found on YouTube, which came out pretty imposing and neat looking for a small tower.

General tips: don't just use one type of block, use different block variations (I could make this look better with some mossy/cracked stone bricks), detail it with completely different block types (wood supports, etc.), use stairs/half slabs to add architectural flourishes.

posted a message on Villagers despawning

I suspected either a rendering or server glitch when my first villager disappeared, that's why I restarted everything. Unfortunately it just caused another villager to vanish. I haven't restarted my server since this happened and haven't experienced any villagers randomly vanishing either, though that's obviously not really proof positive of anything.

Yes, that's what I'd want inches above my head as I went to sleep.

posted a message on You just fell in lava and died. What do you do?

Falling into lava isn't enough to kill me at this point, but I'd get upset for a bit, then go remake all my stuff because I honestly have the resources to do so pretty easily.

I saw the keepInventory option but I can't play with it on. The less of a risk the game presents to me the less interested I get in playing it. I also binned my first world after returning to the game and started over because I'd used creative mode to get myself out of an impossible-to-survive situation and doing so had killed my desire to continue for whatever reason.

Some guy's house... you mean an End City?

If not, then that "guy" shamelessly (actually, literally) stole those banners from end cities. There are a bunch of them in most end cities.

For designing banners, check out this site: http://www.needcoolshoes.com/banner

I took them from an End City, it was a joke.

Any recommendations you can offer for content mods for 1.11.2? I discovered a few cool looking ones I'd have liked to install on my server, like Witchery, but most seem to require a much older build.

You only really need one Elytra, and honestly just from looking for those Elytra I've got a shulker box full of enchanted diamond crap that I'm never likely to use because I already had maxed out stuff before I started exploring the End.
