Been out of the loop for a while now. Other than Discordancy and Nightmare Fuel, is there any other major maps that have been released since, say, CM4?
I also need to catch up with 1.9 and 1.10, but I guess that's up to me.
It's been a while since I posted there like one year and a half and probably most of you don't even know me xD
But I'm still working hard on my map since more than two years now so I wanted to drop by to share a few pics and talk a bit about the progress. Damn that sentence seems awefully wrong but anyway xD
It will be next to impossible to give an estimation of the work left since lots of areas are still more or less WIP.
Basically,
The "ancient times" tier (intersection 1) has been completed.
The "great empires" tier (IT2 )is close to completion.
The modern one (IT3) is roughly half done.
The futuristic has just begun so nothing is done except the concepts\ideas to use.
And of course the map was designed for 1.8 so all the decoration/loot/spawners/CMD block systems already done will have to be updated or changed so with huge areas like that it represents an obscene amount of hours.
So please don't ask for ETA, I have really no idea but I could really use some snow bears
I'm don't have much time to make screens for all the areas right now so I will simply use what I have in my folder lol
Anyway enough talk

This zone features a huge castle which is the dungeon, sadly not finished/terraformed blabla yet so no pics

Most of the infrasructures are underground
For the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.S. fans (dat game <3), this area will features "anomalies", and a "radiation memory" (where basically more time you've spent in a specific anomaly, more damage you will take every time you enter it, checkable by scoreboard and MP friendly ) and multiples sets of protective gear necessary to survive and even better The legendary "Vintar BC" !!! Plus some drugs to help you decrease specific contamination.
This sounds a bit fancy but it's kinda simple ingame
The system will surely be tweaked heavily since it was designed in 1.8.
A few military models for the futuristic tier
The laser tower is of course fonctionnal and futhermore retractable, the tanks and chopers not so much xD
Home/ Nexus
The asteroid exterior is not done yet, same for multiples rooms inside so that will be more of a teaser.

Hope you like it !
Btw any kind of feedback is welcome and appreciated.. I come once a year so please don't hesitate
...Wow. At this point in time, unless I'm handed like infinite time, I'll probably never get into mapmaking. This probably took eons of patience and hard work.
I have been working on a CTM map on (but mostly off) for almost 3 years now, because of that I recently decided to go back and edit/improve some of the areas that I'd previously rushed. I've spent the last couple of days improving my victory monument area, the first photo is what it used to be like - the others are what it looks like now.
It's not completed yet, I'd like to add in at least one waterfall and I haven't actually put in the monument or any sort of player base to use etc, but I wanted to get some feedback on it as it's about 90% done now I think.
Credit for the flying ships / shipwreck at the bottom of the lake goes to Adrian Brightmoore's Armada filter which can be downloaded from Brightmoore.net
P.S. this is the first time I've ever posted an area/anything I've actually built online so please ... be gentle
Usually block variation is important. This does lack that but for some reason... I like it like that? I don't know I personally like how you kept the walls simple, it actually feels more realistic and is definitely a breath of fresh air after all the messy walls I've been seeing lately. Maybe you could throw in some coarse dirt just so it doesn't grow to be bland but other than that I like how the walls are just one, calm colour.
I've been tempted to start this for a while now but I felt like waiting for the full release. Any guesstimate for how long that would take? These positive comments are really getting me excited.
Why Remote District I over III? I know I and II are updated to 1.8 but both of them are rather outdated in aesthetics and gameplay. I personally recommend Remote District III - even though it's in 1.7, it will still feel less outdated.
After adding some more elements into the area, it looks alot better now, Thanks for the support guys! I Think I'll just make some final refine to the area before its done. (I have to make the buildings different from each other, and make the "trees" better, And the vine has freakin overgrown...) Anyways, I think it actually looks fine for my first-time map making, take a look guys!
Wow, you really know how to make improvements, and rather quick as well. That is some great effort, looking forward to more!
Just a suggestion to mapmakers regarding furnaces. If you're going to put something in a furnace, maybe indicate it somehow? I don't know if it's still possible to do that trick where you can make a furnace have a burning animation all the time, but I think that's a good indicator when there is an item in a furnace, or isn't in it. I say this cause I rarely naturally check furnaces and it's awkward seeing an item in one every so often.
I've already seen this block variotion like 'thousand' of times. This is getting kinda repetetive.
It's just a starting area, I think it's great that it is something simple like that.
Edit: And yeah, like Fangride said, that block variation is unique to the brown wool of The Painter, haven't really seen it anywhere else. Maybe similar ones with slightly different block arrangements, but this immediately reminded me of that area alone and nothing else from other maps.
The style has certainly changed, but I think it's fair to say that your maps were ridiculously good for their time. They actually are what really got me into CTM, and Forgotten Crevice was the first CTM map that really impressed me.
Which leads me to a Community Question:
What was the thing that first got you interested in CTM maps?
Pinnacle Cavern - The Painter by Sketch Zepharin Sands - Ragecraft III by heliceo

- Y=1 -A Mini CTM By. Browneye414Wools - 3 (Orange, Red, Black)Difficulty 8/10Time Length - ? Ya the map name is Y=1 becuase you know Y level... void fog....? oh never mindIm pretty happy with how this turned out, some people might not see it as a jam map, because reasons i'm to lazy to type out . You can read this in the READ ME note page in the download. (I decided to change this paragraph to say something useful) Most of this map keeps you at the Y level of 1. Hence its name. Using Optifine to turn off void fog is largely forbidden and will break the map. I hope you have fun and play other peoples jam maps! They all look terrific. I probably forgot to do something in this download, but you know have fun. Why do i try with fancy downloads seriously
So far I'm really loving it. The spider part is ridiculous though. They do unbearable amounts of damage even with most of the armor you gave us. Not to forget they give knockback. Maybe throw in some kbr armor before that room? Also the cave spiders in the red wool room are just.. un rewarding. I personally think nothing should be in the red wool room because those guys hurt and it's just wrong for them to be the ones that kill you rather than the main room ones. And you have to go all the way back there just to deal with them again.
Hey there, updated aesthetics, new feedback for a new pics?
That looks much better. Most of the second pic is pretty spot on although the redstone blood looks a little forced imo. Maybe put some red-stained clay underneath or some mob heads around to spice it up. Also, I'd tone down on the green-stained clay and maybe have more brown/black/whatever-that-is-in-the-picture-stained clay for block variation (on the floor in the second pic, that is).
