they are there now!

polar bear pet!
roar: right click to make mobs run from you for 30 seconds (excluding creepers because that's what the ocelot pet is for)
bear strength: will give strength 2 for 10 seconds (has massive cooldown
food: salmon

ok. i'll make the changes now

for the engineer: you make a very good point. 16 pistons for an emerald does seem a bit expensive considering how hard it is to make one.
for the lumberjack: it would be a bit more than 6 or 7 wood for one emerald. like half a stack maybe? and yeah, they should only sometimes obtain enchanted axes.
thanks for the reply!

thread update: new villager idea added: potionist
thread update:
removed redstone engineer due to people's opinions
thread update:
changed potionist to alchemist and altered it's trades as well as altering the lumberjack trades.
hello critics! i have an idea for you all to spit on (jk lol)
it's about villagers and lack of new professions of them. so far we only have:
farmers (fishermen, bakers etc)
blacksmiths (toolsmiths, weaponsmiths)
librarians (do i really need to explain the concept of a librarian)
priests (clerics and that's it really unless i'm mistaken)
butchers (meat sellers and leather workers)
and that's it........
not much now that you think about it. in my opinion, we need some new villagers.
nothing that doesn't fit out of place such as a "nuclear plant worker" (yes that stupid idea was a thing about a year ago)
things that would actually fit in very well with how minecraft works
so my suggestions are:
lumberjack: a simple woodcutter that would simply buy and sell different varieties of wood so that you wouldn't need to travel from biome to biome searching for wood
appearance: wearing overalls and a black and red shirt
functionality: would sell various wood types (spruce, acacia etc) and the various wooden planks and occasionally an enchanted axe of some sort. it would not be a trade of "a few logs for an emerald" as that's ridiculous. instead, two different wood types for an emerald, to add an incentive to collecting various logs (example: 32 oak wood and 48 dark oak wood for an emerald)
alchemist: would trade certain potion ingredients
appearance: a dark blue robe
function: would trade overworld ingredients (like a fermented spider eye or a golden carrot. nothing that you can already get from the nether)
these villagers would be about as common as blacksmiths or librarians.
i do not think either deserves a new building as their services
don't warrant a new building.
overall, it would be a nice addition to the game and would give villagers some new friends to talk to.
thank you for reading

i just had an idea and felt like sharing it lol
i only play this game like twice a month. i spend most of my time playing games like fallout and skyrim

good point, however attack speed shouldn't be altered in such a way. the axe for example is supposed to be slower than the sword but more powerful, giving players a choice between speed and strength. taking the delay away (in any form) is basically giving a massive middle finger to sword users, due to the axe losing any form of delay.
however, this could become more balanced if the enchantment were to only be found in dungeon chests. it would be more often than mending or frostwalker, but would make sure that not everyone can have a super powerfull and super fast weapon

the idea sounds good in theory, but goes against everything 1.9 stands for.
the weapon cooldown is to not only stop spam-clicking, but to add use for other items like axes.

there are lots of other topics that cover this less vaguely and offer more than just a subtle change

as we all know, wolves (among other mobs, but that's another problem on it's own) don't drop anything.
they should at least drop some sort of item, like their teeth or pelt or something
a few modifications have done this perfectly.
if they dropped pelt....
the pelt could be used to craft leather in some way
if they dropped teeth....
the teeth could be used for arrows (like in the gany's surface mod)
personally, i like the pelt idea better, as it seems more simple and resembles the use of rabbits skin.
and for those who are about to comment "OMG THIS IS SO STUPID WOLVES DON'T NEED TO DROP ANYTHING THEY ARE ALREADY USEFULL AS PETS YOU DUMB IDIOT!!111!!" not everyone tames every wolf they see. and some (like me) would like to see a simple feature added into the game which, in my opinion, fits well into the game as it's not some big game changing feature but would be a nice touch into one of my favorite games
comment what you think down below.
thank you for your time.

a lot of mods and even other minecraft ripoffs have the feature to place their' sticks on the ground as blocks
so why not minecraft? fences are a bit too big for using them as placed sticks in my opinion
placeable sticks wouldn't add THAT much content into the game, but it would be a nice addition and i'm assuming, easy to add into minecraft.

purplicous cow, please do not make a herobrine pet. all it will do is ruin the mod and encourage more herobrine propaganda
