Hey! I used to play on this server forever ago under the alias "ZanZero".

I'd love to jump back in with you all and play, but I can't seem to connect.

What version should I use and what is the server address?

Welcome back! The server is running on the latest version of Minecraft - 1.11.2 and the IP is: play.pokemonserver.net. To better keep in touch with the community, you can find our forums at pokemonserver.net/forum.

Can't Connect to serve is what it says in the menu

I've been told that the Pixelmon server is actually down at the moment. With luck it'll be back up soon. In the mean time, you may enjoy playing on the PvP server.

why cant i reach the server? what is the ip for the server with pixelmon in it

The IP for the Pixelmon server is:

    pixelmonserver.net

You could be having issues due to not having the correct or any version of the mod and forge. To get the right ones, log into the PvP server (play.pokemonserver.net) and type /pixelmon in chat. It has easy instructions and automatic download links to the correct versions.

Can't seem to find information on propulsion methods on any of the websites. Or is it just sails for now?

At the moment, sails are the only source of propulsion for every size of ship bar the tiny ship, which uses a paddle. Cuchaz has mentioned introducing different methods of propulsion in the future for airships, submarines and maybe new types of ships.

Here's what should be the latest Forge log:

    http://www.filedropper.com/fml-client-latest

This time the file was saved as ASMI and was using Windows CRLF for line spacing.

So you want the fml-client-latest log right? It's really long and most file upload sites won't allow it due to it's size.

Ooops, I updated the block properties format and didn't change the instructions on the website. For now, just add another :false to the end of each line. I'll update the website later today. The mod is supposed to spit out errors when the file isn't correctly formatted. You should be able to see those in your log.

EDIT: the website is updated now. That didn't take as long as I thought it would. =P

Turns out things still aren't working. :/
The file still doesn't do anything, even when I added the new :false flag. Was their anything else wrong with what I had written? Also, you said if the mod doesn't read it properly it would show errors in the log. What would they look like?

Here's the link to the file:

    http://www.filedropper.com/shipblockproperties

I've been using 1.7.10 and only on single player.

Thank you so much for doing this. I feel like such a bother and really incompetent. :P

Also, good luck with your fluid mod. Can't wait to check it out!

Is it possible he's using a different encoding or something, and it's making your config reader have a fit? I'd imagine this is unlikely, but different operating systems very often handle different encoding formats differently so it might be worth looking at...

Sharkfin try using "Save As" (or whatever you do to change encoding in TextEdit), and check that the encoding is ANSI. If it's not, then try setting it to ANSI. If it is, then try setting it to UTF-8. If that doesn't work then I'm all out of ideas.

Well firstly I realised that the TextEdit file couldn't save as a .cfg file and that the whole time it was saving it as 'shipBlockProperties.cfg.rtf'. After that I downloaded a program called TextWrangler which let me create an actual cfg file. However, despite rotating between Western (Windows Latin 1), which is ANSI, and UTF-8, as well as a couple other options, it still didn't work. I even tried rotating between CR, LF and CRLF to see if that was the issue but it didn't work. People online with similar issues seem to think their is some sort of bug with multiple lines between and Mac and Windows but things still don't work with one line of text.

I've run tests on the map and checked the log to confirm that the mod is definitely not picking up the file, rather than it just being a different issue.
4HeadTiger, do you know if it works for you?

Firstly, great job on the port! Everything seems to be running fine.

In regards to my issue, after trying to get it to work for ages, I'm confident that the reason it's not working is because I'm not using Windows Notepad but rather the Mac version, TextEdit. The file has a different icon, which doesn't change when I save it as a .cfg. Is it possible that the mod will only read Notepad files? If so, then anyone who has a Mac won't be able to use this feature. :/

Sorry, the folder is called config. If the mod read your file correctly, you should see some text in the log that looks like this:
    https://bitbucket.org/cuchaz/ships/src/fd32ed4ca0686e1f0a58676813c950285266b0c0/src/cuchaz/ships/config/BlockProperties.java?at=default#cl-94

I looked at the latest Forge log and it didn't have that. Although is didn't appear as if it was the latest log as it looked like it was saying the version I had was 0.9. I'm not sure how to view the actual latest log for Forge. All the normal version logs were up to date.

Put it in the conf folder. =)

I think I already have. I put it in the config folder in my Minecraft folder. I can't see another folder abbreviated to conf, unless I'm looking I the wrong place.
Maybe the problem is that I used the Mac program, TextEdit, rather than Notepad.

The same config file works on the server and a standalone client. And yes, increasing the water displacement for a block will cause it to produce more bouyant force for a ship.

    Thanks!
so just to confirm, if I wanted to make nether brick fences lighter I'd type in the text document:
    tile.nether_brick_fence:0.25:0.5:false:false

EDIT: This doesn't seem to work. I even tried giving planks a displacement of 150 just to confirm that I was doing something wrong. Nothing changes.
Using my Mac's text edit program, I made the text document and put it in the config folder in .minecraft, as it's called on Windows (just minecraft for me). It was named shipBlockProperties.cfg. I don't know what I've done wrong.

Cuchaz, I've been looking into changing the properties of certain blocks but I'm not sure how to do it on single player. The guide on cuchaz interactive seems to imply the need for a server to do it.

Also, would increasing the water displacement of a block help the ship stay afloat? At the moment, when I get rid of all the heavy stuff, so that it's sailable, it still submerges nearly to the top deck.

Looks like a v1.0 release of Ships Mod is not too far off! I've been fixing a bunch of stuff this week. I just got raining on ships to work correctly, and mobs to walk on ships. I'll probably make a new video with mobs walking on ships since it looks cool. =)

Wow, good job! I'm glad ships mod is progressing well again. :)
