What the hell is the reasoning behind obfuscating all the relevant files for modding anyway? Seems a petty and vindictive movement by Notch back when he was actually contributing to Minecraft, and before he started screwing it up. Now that he's working on other projects and has stated that mod-compliance is a goal, why not just quit obfuscating?
tery.
Fscking auth servers >_<
I love how you can play offline, and see the servers you want to connect to in perfect working condition but be denied access.
*sigh*
Doom - ever thought about throwing your pack up on Customizer? I'd love to use the combiner there to fill in the gaps so I don't have to use default textures on the things you're currently working on.
Your pack is coming along nicely - the mobs, as always, are probably the best around.
Just using ModLoader and OptiFine HD A2 Multi-Core in OS X (10.7.3, 2.66 C2D, Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT 512mb) I get a black screen on load, regardless of which order I install them. Kind of a bummer, was hoping to utilize both cores. Haven't tried it in Windows yet - was hoping the multicore optifine would help me easily run in OS X. I'll poke around this thread some more.
Edit: Same with smooth.
Edit: Same with standard.
Install process is to unjar to a remote folder, replace the classfiles and then jar them back up. This has been flawless installation with other mods (I stopped using OptiMine when it ceased being developed and have only recently started using OptiFine). If I use Magic Launcher I can get this to work - where is the conflict between OptiFine and Modloader? I'd prefer not using a special launcher to the point of passing on OptiFine. I suppose I could try this in windows as I suspect more and more that this is somehow related to how OS X functions, but it's nice not having to boot into windows for at least a -few- games (if only for better performance).
It appears to come down to the vl.class file - at least in using the "standard" OptiFine installation. I don't see any cross-incompatibilities otherwise.
Rather disappointing - is there a solution to this that doesn't involve using a specialized launcher or booting into windows? TIA
(This is a completely virgin install I'm working with here, trying to narrow down the reasons)
Edit: HA. Ok.. wtf. Hopefully this will help someone else in a similar situation.
So I installed Modloader, and the rest of my mods using the old school method of unjaring/recompressing, then running MCPatcher (with HD Textures, HD Font, and Custom Colors only). Launched Minecraft works great as normal. Thought I'd screw around one more try - I got it to work with Magic Launcher I should be able to do the same, so I unjarred the mod'd minecraft.jar back to the remote directory and dumped in OptiFine HD A2 Multi-Core, re-jarred the folder back to ~/.../.minecraft/bin/, rand MCPatcher again with the same settings et viola, ****er launches fine.
Hope this helps someone.
Edit: Ok.. scratch that idea too. Minecraft launches fine, but none of the OptiFine options are available after running MCPatcher. Giving up, seems like a lost cause.
My problem is that at deeper levels in my mine, even with brightness all the way up, torches hardly put off any light. Its unrealistic how little light they put off at lower levels in a mine. It's kind of annoying because if I want to see what Im doing I have to delete my jar with the GLSL in it then place my old jar in, mine till im done, the replace the old jar with the GLSL one again.
Please fix the lighting of torches in mines? Thanks!
Go to the first post. Scroll down to where it says "How to Enable Cave mapping / Entities radar on SMP" and click on the Spoiler button to expand. Click on the first link to download the server mod for vanilla Minecraft 1.2.4. First time you start the server with this mod, it will create a new config file with all options enabled for you automatically, you can edit this config and restart the server if you want fewer options enabled.
Oh son of a *****. Don't know how I missed that.
Ok so, like many other mods, is it safe to assume the 1.2.4 will work with 1.2.5 then?
There's got to be a way to enable entities in the radar without installing Essentials for Bukkit.. where is this LoginMessage for vanilla? How does one actually enable this?
This:
Before Notch added the MOTD (message of the day) the term was used for something else: It was the text displayed in the chat when you log in. This was configurable with plugins such as Essentials. The MOTD (a.k.a. Login Message, as it is called now) was for example "Welcome to the server, Marik! You have 3 unread messages".
But since Notch added the MOTD for 1.8, the meaning of the word changed. since then it's the Server Display Message rather than the Login Message. Although Rei uses the term "MOTD", he means the Login Message.
To make sure you could make a Login Message in Vanilla Minecraft, Rei made a minimod (LoginMessage v0.3 at, I think) so that people could still enable the two features in Vanilla SMP.
Is not clear. There is no link to LoginMessage - although there is a Bukkit plugin - but it makes no mention of the Minimap and it's a bukkit plugin which is clearly not for vanilla (;
Someone has to have this working! Thanks in advance for any help!
Is that -this- LoginMessage? http://forums.bukkit...s-1-0-1-r1.252/
The Bukket mod?
Or is there another one?
Where does one find the LoginMessage minimod? The one I linked to makes no mention of Rei's minimap and there are no mods as such in the forums here.
Also it says that LoginMessage v0.3 is for vanilla servers.. which is contrary to the idea of needed a Bukkit mod as Bukkit mod != Vanilla.
Can someone help me out here.. I'm certain it's been answered somewhere in the ~150 pages but thems a lot of pages to hunt through... when using the entities, e.g.:
-Where- can this go in the server config file after MOTD?
Does it have to be at the beginning of the MOTD, does it have to supplant the MOTD or can I put it at "MOTD=&0&0&2&e&f Welcome to the Minecraft Server!" or does it have to be the -only- thing present in the MOTD? Can I put it at the -end- of the MOTD like so: "MOTD=Welcome to the Minecraft Server! &0&0&2&e&f"
Where does it have to go, what limitations are there are the location? None of this is described in the OP or the first page postings, any help would be appreciated!
The 1.2.4 version -should- work fine with 1.2.5 - one of the big things that Jeb is working on is mod support. One of the biggest problems with mods was that with every new compile all the class files were RANDOMLY RENAMED (because Notch hates mods). Looks like this step in new rollouts has FINALLY been removed.

Yes, but you'll need to send me a small deposit of $34.99 by paypal. Or read the OP.

What -isn't- a "griefer's tool" to people like you?

That's what she said!

Just sayin'
edit: You could actually say I'm being penalized for not stealing the game and bypassing the authentication servers.

It's a game feature, it's called Void Fog, This will remove voidfog and dimming: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1116564-125-mamiyaotarus-mods-motiontracker-zans-minimap-oldnorth-etc/page__fromsearch__1 (second one on the list)

All I want is the player, ie "&0&0&2&e&f"
