Jan 11, 2011I would like to thank daxnitro for his GLSL Shaders mod. (viewtopic.php?f=25&t=128043&hilit=glsl)Posted in: Mods Discussion
I love the realistic quality that it adds when you play minecraft.
Also, thanks goes to Risugami for simplifying modding by creating Mod Loader.
And to all modders who currently work on giving us new mods to play around with, THANK YOU!
Have some diamonds!
Jan 11, 2011Posted in: Mods DiscussionQuote from AnikoKinoshi »Not a huge fan of a level system for Minecraft, but if MC was to have a level system, i would rather it be more akin to the Morrowind games,
if you shovel some number of gravel blocks, the time it takes to shovel gravel is reduced by some minuscule amount (but many levels of this (thinking 100+ levels with an end % change of about 10%)
if you spend a lot of time in the dark (< 8 light level) you start to emit light
if you spend time running above ground, you can run faster
if you spend time falling a lot, you can survive further falls
if you kill mobs with weapons, deal more damage, or more mobs spawn, get more hearts, etc...
this leads to a more progressive leveling system which seems to fit more with this style of game then a level based which can be more methodical, plus it doesn't award you for doing unrelated tasks
but still, i'd rather not have a leveling system
I sort of like this idea, but I think I would like it to be more of an RPG style leveling.
Jan 10, 2011Posted in: Mods DiscussionPlease comment if you think this is interesting at all!
So I was playing minecraft, and I thought: "What do other games have, that this game doesn't (besides dragons :tongue.gif:)
Then I figured it out:
As in Exp, player levels, stat increases, etc.
Not exactly sure how exp would be gained (maybe each day you survive = 1 exp, or equivalent.)
Levels would increase in exp needed each level like every other game that uses level up.
The process of leveling would give you one skill point and/or stat point, to increase a certain stat/skill, let's just say, by about 5% (to keep this balanced.)
These stats would be things like:
Armor-Man (i.e. 1 stat point = 0.5 Armor points)
Fast-Miner (1 sp = 5% speed increase when mining)
Snow-Shoveler ( 1 sp = 5% speed increase when shoveling)
Wood-Cutter (1 sp = 6% speed increase when chopping wood)
Speed-Walker (1 sp = 8% speed increase when walking)
Chef (1 sp = 10% more health gain when eating food)
Skills could also be acquired throughout the game. Skill points would only be gained 1 every 4 level-ups, to keep gameplay fair. Skills would also have levels: i.e. Diamond-Digger Lvl1 = 1% chance; Lvl2 would yeild 2% chance.
Some rough ideas would be:
Diamond-Digger (1% chance that a different ore would give 1 diamond instead of said ore.)
Kowabunga (10% less fall-damage)
Black-Smith (5% chance that 1 ore becomes 2 ingots after being smelted.)
Weapons-Master (7.5% chance you would deal x2 [critical hit] damage to any mobs)
Ranger (10% chance of dealing x2.5 damage to a mob)
Mob-Farmer (10% chance that any mob will drop x2 loot)
These are just some random ideas I threw together. Please, PLEASE, if you have any ideas/comments/concerns/opinions, please post right now!
Jan 10, 2011This would be great. I would be able to measure the distance between things and make signs that tell how far the next cart station is. I will PM the creator of Sign Tags (Risugami), and give him this idea, which may be added to Sign Tags.Posted in: Mods Discussion
Jan 10, 2011Posted in: Resource PacksQuote from muncher21 »Quote from Glimmar »That is a really beautiful and cheerful pack, minegirl, and if you don't mind me saying, about flippin' time too! I know that a number of male neanderthals think Minecraft, and all things pertaining to construction, was invented exclusively for them, but when they've finished scratching themselves and switched on a few brain cells, they may realize the world has moved on a few centuries, but I doubt it! [Lol! bring it on!! ]
Seriously though, your tiling and choice of colours, etc. looks superb and I'm sure this will please many!
Looking forward to seeing what you've done with the mobs, etc!
The fact is graphics wise minecraft is very guy oriented. Studies show that Most girls (not saying all) prefer games with good looking graphics ie. final fantasy. Minecraft is not this. It's mostly pixelated and not very good looking. So that means it is more geared towards men. that's just how it is.
Your post proved that some women (you) can be just as brain cell deficient and cavemanish as men.
So stop being sexist. ( I just had to get this of my chest, I hate it when girls think they can call men stupid, but expect to be treated all nice)
I like the pack! I probably won't use it because I like minecraft to be more gritty, but the artwork is great!
Lol! This is so funny! Hilarious in fact!
You assume I am a woman - first incorrect assumption. Oh dear! [shakes head in disbelief]... and as a man I learned to treat women as equals at an early stage in my life and I did just fine out of it, with a happy marriage, good friends of both gender, and the ability to laugh at the stereotypes associated with both men and women. Yeh, being an open-minded kind of 'guy' (just thought I'd remind you again) with a sense of humour (that's important to women too, just incase 'being nice to them doesn't work!), I'm well aware of my strengths and inadequacies...judging by your off the mark assumptions and your sig. I'm not sure you are. Don't be offended, but my comment was a 'humorous generalisation', yours was a personal attack.
My post was a 'tongue-in-cheek' comment, and not to be taken seriously, that's why I ended my comment with "seriously though". Unfortunately, perhaps I should have been more serious, as your post seems to prove my point! Just a thought, but we might have more success with girls if you [cough] sorry 'we', stop thinking of 'girls' as a seperate inferior species. I know what you mean though, sometimes being nice to girls is just not good enough! Damn them for not being grateful to their masters!
["Wifey! Get me my *** beer! I'm stuck down a mine-shaft in Minecraft"...BONK! "Now that's not being very nice dear!" "Yeh, well I'm stuck down a ******* well in Left for Dead, so get yer own **** beer next time!!"]
Don't take life too seriously muncher! :biggrin.gif: You've brightened my evening up no end, so don't take my comments too seriously either and lets stay friends. However, I really am a guy, or 'bloke' as we say here in the UK, honest!
ps. I suppose it's too late to say you might like my texture pack. It's one of the 'grittier' one's on offer! :biggrin.gif:
pps. And my sincere apologies to you, minegirl, for the inconvenience of having to trawl past this silly post!
Quote from swfan333 »Quote from Glimmar »Quote from Seiseki »So when a guy makes a pack like this it's sexism and he gets flamed to high heaven, but when a woman does so it's suddenly ok?
I demand this thread be flamed, otherwise it's.. Sexism!!! :tongue.gif:
Lol! I want 'guycraft' just to balance things out!
The great Glimmar, pixel artist of prestige, famous makes of Glimmar's steampunk, great poster of posts has commented on your texture pack? It is a honour to hear the sound of his name let alone be given wisdom from his lips.
I would be truly humbled to make this 'guycraft' if it pleases your awesomness.
You better!....Have it on my desk on Monday!! :biggrin.gif: [/quote]
Wow. A texturepack aimed primarily for girls to use starts a sexist debate. How interesting?
Good job on the TP though! Looks good.

Jan 9, 2011There is a mod (not Beta OR modloader compat. yet) that puts heart containers (like the ones in LOZ) into dungeon chests, that adds an extra heart to your total life, up to twenty full hearts. The modder is trying to make his mod work with battle towers so that the boss will drop a heart container. You should try it out once he finishes it. :smile.gif:Posted in: Mods Discussion
Jan 9, 2011scokeev9 posted a message on [1.7.10] nohero's mods: More Health Enchanted: Beta for Health Loss Issue 1/2/2016As soon as a Modloader compatible version is ready for Beta, I will definitely use this mod. And I may have misunderstood, but when you die, do you lose all of your hearts??? (besides the ten you always start out with.)Posted in: Minecraft Mods
I would much rather keep them; when you die, you already lose all your items, (if you are too far away from spawn), and then losing all the hearts you obtained from numerous, horrible dungeon fights!? Seems a little harsh. Total ragequit there.
Jan 9, 2011scokeev9 posted a message on [1.4.7] ejhopkins Wild Grass v16.0 updated for ForgeI'm pretty sure that this isn't supposed to happen, but I installed Wild Grass (v5.3), and I start a new world, and I notice quite a few blocks worth of wild grass around me, and then I notice pieces of wild grass growing at ridiculous rates. After 2-3 mins of playing, almost every single block of grass is covered in Wild Grass! And finally, the game starts lagging horribly (probably because of the DNA mutated wild grass that was everywhere, that is still growing and updating chunks several times a second). Anyways, I was forced to switch to the backup minecraft.jar I made, as the game was lagging to the point where playing it in it's current state was practically impossible, and deleted my world. But does anyone know why this could be? I am using quite a few mods: BiomeTerrain mod, Leaf Decay, Mo' Creatures, and a few other mods that wouldn't, or shouldn't, affect this mod.Posted in: Minecraft Mods
