Can't remember how it is on mac, but I've had problems if I leave "Launch Method" set to native launcher, so I always change it to java launcher.

Post the DXDiag of the Aspire. Directions are in my signature.
Also, open the debug menu (press F3) while Minecraft is running and take a screenshot (press F2). I suspect the game may be running on the integrated GPU rather than the dedicated GPU.
Theoretically, the Acer should run the game considerably better than the MacBook Air. It's a newer computer with better components.

Allocate less memory to the game. Minecraft can't really seem to handle having more than 4GB allocated.
I noticed that the allocated memory in the F3 menu and the memory usage in the task manager were similar. I suspect that the allocated memory line means that the game is reserving that amount of RAM for when it needs it. That would mean nothing else could use it, and it would show that Minecraft would be using all that memory in task manager.

Please provide a DxDiag.
Also, assigning more than 4GB of RAM to the game can harm performance and possibly cause more lag.

My old laptop had identical specs to yours, and with Optifine, the game ran fine.
Mess with the settings until you get good performance. I'd recommend keeping render distance below 12, and turn down particles and clouds.
I also recommend making sure the fans are even still working. You should use a program like HWMonitor to check temperatures.
EDIT: Could you post the crash report you get when trying to install Optifine?

Your computer might just be to old and outdated to run modded Minecraft.
One option is to try uninstalling Optifine, as it doesn't always play nice with other mods.
EDIT: Yeah, you probably need a new video card. The Radeon 3000 is a very old and weak video card. A GT 1030 would be a massive improvement if your computer supports it and you can afford it.

This seems more like an idea for a new dimension than a new biome.
For a dimension, this sounds like an interesting idea.
But if it's a biome that will regularly generate in a normal world, then No Support.
Also, I made this bee model a while ago when I was bored. You can use it in your post if you want. Just give me a name credit, please.
I can make more models if you want me to.

The Minecraft Wiki states that using shears on a normal pumpkin will carve it.
"Right-clicking a pumpkin block with shears will turn it into a carved pumpkin and make it spit out 4 pumpkin seeds."

If you have a standard 60Hz monitor, limiting your framerate to 60 will be fine. Higher framerates might make the game feel responsive, but you won't get any visual improvement.
Unlimiting your framerate will probably cause your video card to work harder. I limit my framerate to 120, because my video card has loud coil whine without it. Limiting it won't work your video card as hard.

1.13 is already looking like it'll be a great update.
Java QnA will probably be interesting.
Sad to see that the other versions of Minecraft still have microtransactions. Glad that PC version still doesn't have them (for now).
Does anyone even care about story mode anymore?

LWJGL3! About time.
Fingers crossed for better overall performance and Vulkan support!
EDIT: Ooh, fullscreen resolution option now. Again, about time they added that.
EDIT 2: Wow, they finally got rid of that stupid broken 3D anaglyph option. 1.13 is shaping up to be my favorite update.

- This is not a console or Bedrock edition of the game, it is a 3DS specific version and the closest equivalent edition in features is the 0.15 Friendly Update version for Minecraft: Pocket Edition
$30 for what is effectively an outdated version of MCPE, which aside from being more expensive than PC, also costs over four times as much as MCPE.
Jul 16, 2014sam_86314 posted a message on UPDATE: Snapshot 14w29b is Ready For (Enhanced Graphical) Testing! Thanks for this update! I still have to lower my render distance to normal, but I get around 30-45 fps with the other settings cranked up. The game was unplayable with these settings in the last snapshot. VBO also seems to lower the amount of lag spikes I get. Keep the optimizations coming!Posted in: News
