I've figured it out! Do any of you have the Optifine mod installed? Or any mod, for that matter. I just uninstalled my Optifine mod and now the javaw.exe process stops without any issues! Try uninstalling/reinstalling any mods you have.

I did have Optifine, Modloader, MacroKeys, and Rei's Minimap installed for version 1.2.5, but when running 1.3.1 I use a fresh, un-modded version.

If I have already missed this out, sorry, but have you tried opening any other applications that need Java to run? If you do take a look at it, it should (as you already know, I've read the entire topic), state as "javaw.exe".

Then play for a few seconds and close it down, and check if it's still there. If not, then it IS only a Minecraft issue and not Java being generally stupid.

I don't have any other applications that use javaw.exe if that is what you mean. However I can tell you that each time I run Minecraft it begins a new javaw.exe. As Juran_Fox stated, it is possible to have multiple javaw.exe processes running all at once that cannot be stopped. It must be a problem with Minecraft because I was using the most recent version of Java with 1.2.5 and 1.3.1 but the problem only occurred when playing on 1.3.1.

I also am noticing that the problem only seems to happen the second time I start Minecraft. After the first time I open it and then close it, the javaw.exe process goes away, but the second time I open and close it, that's when it doesn't stop. I also noticed that in-game, my skin is not loaded, which doesn't happen in 1.2.5.

Did you get that error report using the batch file? Or was that in a Minecraft crash report?

In that error report you have several OpenGL mentions and an ATi DLL file mention, that usually points to a driver related issue... Try updating Cataylst (your ATi driver), and tell me if that makes a difference.

I checked for an update, but I am using the most current version of ATI Catalyst (Version 12.6). I also tried to temporarily disable the User Account Control, but the problem did not stop.

posted a message on Minecraft's java process will not die on closure (or at all for that matter)
    Quote from CraftNinja2011

Try running with just 32 bit java and getting a crash report (follow the instructions in green writing):

    http://www.minecraft...d/#advprocedure

I did that and got this error message:

'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
    operable program or batch file.

EDIT: I also seemed to have gotten that javaw.exe issue again, even though I am only running the 32-bit version. So now its the 'javaw.exe *32' that won't stop.

I believe I am having the same issue, and it only started when I am using minecraft 1.3.1. Minecraft 1.2.5 does NOT cause this issue. I start minecraft through the default launcher and every time I quit out of it, or just exit it by closing the window, there continues to be the "unkillable" javaw.exe process running in the background. If I start minecraft again, it just adds another javaw.exe to the processes window, and more of my RAM is sucked up. The only way I have found to fix this is to reboot my machine, which dragos stated before. I uninstalled my Java and then installed a 32-bit version, but then minecraft kept unexpectedly crashing without any error reports after only a few minutes or seconds of gameplay. However, when using the 32-bit Java, the javaw.exe error did not occur, and went away when the program crashed. Then I re-installed the 64-bit version of Java and the javaw.exe process became unstoppable again.

    Here's my specs just FYI:

    Windows 7 64-Bit
    Intel Core i5 760 @ 2.8GHz
    8 Gigabytes RAM
    ATI Radeon HD 5450 1GB
    Java 7 Update 5 (I have both 32-bit and 64-bit installed)

I hope this problem is addressed in the next update, because this should be considered a MAJOR bug.

Have you tried using the online parser to check for errors?

There were a couple of things I wasn't sure about in your permissions, especially the nodes like bukkit_moderator; stuff like that. You will have to use this file and see what you want changed. Also, you need to rename this file to permissions.yml when you use it.

Heres the download link to your edited file: http://www.mediafire.com/?32f3d72izz533ta

It seems that you have some spacing issues and some other issues with the permissions. I'll try to fix them.

posted a message on /msg use with ChatManager/EssentialsChat
I know it is possible to edit the color of normal chat messages, but I don't know how to edit the private ones. To change to color of the normal ones go into your config.yml file in the essentials plugin folder, and go to EssentialsChat.

    format: '<{DISPLAYNAME}> {MESSAGE}'
    #format: '&7[{GROUP}]&f {DISPLAYNAME}&7:&f {MESSAGE}'

Find this (above) and you'd want to change the second '&f' to change the color.

Again, this is to change the normal chat color, I'm not sure how you would change the color of the private messages without having to type the color codes before your messages.

You just had some spacing errors and forgot to put the single quotation marks around the * (like this '*'). I used an online YAML parser to fix the errors. Here is the download link, which I already put in YML format; it should work now... enjoy! :D

P.S. Here is the link for the parser I used. http://yaml-online-parser.appspot.com/
