My first night in minecraft I had no idea what I was doing or what the game was about. It was a little over a year ago- I was bleary eyed after flying home from vacation. I was playing some FPS shooter with my other xbox live friends, when my friend said that he was going to play minecraft, and that I should get it.
I downloaded it off of his recommendation and proceeded to start wandering aimlessly through the tutorial world. After a few minutes of this I started digging with my hand straight down. It wasn't till things got dark and I couldn't see that I started to get claustrophobic. I was in a hole in the ground with no way out that I could see. I dug deeper, and soon found that the blocks took longer to give way. I turned the game off after I found bedrock and was completely disorientated.
The next day I started to actually play the game - discovered what redstone was all about, and found CNB's tutorials through youtube.
I was hooked from that point on.

I began this project as a way to both develop a library of shapes and forms with which to use in building, and also to explore the possibilities of manipulation of geometry using math. I've now published the first set of almost 200 equations to my website: www.s4nari.com/equations.html

In the video above I reveal the Sound Reference Library - A collection of the sounds available to Minecraft Map builders. Each sound has been coded to play either at normal speed, at fastest speed, or at slowest speed in order to show the range of speeds and their effect on each sound file. Almost all sounds have been coded, and color-coordinated to a legend of its parent sound type (e.g. mobs, dig, etc.). Link to my website with a link for the schematic of the build in the video description. Happy map making fellow crafters!!

I've stumbled upon a slightly interesting property of the falling sand entity - when setting them to display the id of stained glass - they take on the color but not the transparency - thus giving the color a completely different tone and texture (i.e. flat). Using this with blocks in motion when combined with wool textures would make for an interesting contrast between the different color values. Enjoy!

Personally - I yearn for the following:
Cobblestone and Mossy Cobblestone Wall Gates
Netherbrick Fence Gates
Stained Clay Stairs
Stained Clay Fences
Stained Clay Bricks
Stained Clay Slabs
Colored Light Blocks (i.e. a block that would cast colored light instead of just white light)
Any that I haven't thought of?
Heres to hoping!

Yes - they are indeed glitchy. However, they could serve a use in specialized cases.
For Example - have a command block start the engine with " /setblock ~ ~2 ~ redstone_block " and then stop it with " /setblock ~2 ~2 ~ air " - photos below. you could have the start initiate movement of a flying machine - then down the line where you want it to end - make a tripwire that connects to the command block to remove the redstone blocks powering the device.
another possible use for the flying machines could be to act as a traveling bomber - the slime block can pick up blocks that it passes next to - thus allowing a flying machine to load up with tnt - fire it by having those tnt blocks pass over redstone torches - when the tnt ignites it actually throws the tnt forward in the direction of travel. Since you've just fired those tnt blocks - you can now reload down the line and fire again!
And - just to round out this session of brainstorming - you could also use the flying machine to activate a chain of devices as it moves along (have the redstone block move past separated lines of redstone that connect to sequenced effects)- thus eliminating the need for complex timing and loads of redstone updates for large timed effects.

-Sticky piston with cobblestone placed on piston head and slime block placed on top of cobblestone
When you try and place a redstone torch on the piston - this happens:
