Can horses be transported in boats?

I found a horse but it's across an ocean and quite far away. Is it possible to transport horses in boats? I would love to know this before I make another journey back to the horse only to have it be a bust when I get to the beach.

I did manage to jump into a mine cart with a donkey, but not sure if donkey and horse share the same size. Not to mention the mine cart might hold larger items than boats do.

Hey guys! HermitMonk here, and with me I have brought an idea for what I call a disenchantment table!
Well, I'll get right to it.

Here is how I imagine the crafting recipe.

Emerald Obsidian Emerald
Obsidian Obsidian Obsidian

This can be used to convert the enchantments from tools and weapons into enchanted books.

Ok, the idea, is you place your enchanted tool or weapon into the "O" and books into the "X's" Then press a button, and the enchantments move to the books. Also, if you have 3 enchantments on a pick, say efficiency, unbreaking, and fortune, and you place 1 book in the second book slot, the second enchantment on the pick would move to the book leaving the other enchants behind. This would allow or you to easily transfer the unbreaking enchant to other tools.
