posted a message on My idea of a brand new business model
The idea is making customers pay super small fees, in shorter intervals for something they enjoy. Usually customers don't want this however if they are in a different state of mind it could work.
As i said its just an idea i have no idea if it could work, or even have a chance

posted a message on My idea of a brand new business model
First I would like to tell where I got my ideas from.

You know how every time you wake up from your alarm, you tend to press the sleep button as long as possible until you absolutely have to wake up. When you’re in that state of mind (just opening your eyes, waking up) you’re in a mood where your willing to spend time doing what you were previously doing (which is sleeping ). You don’t want to wake up however you have to. Now if you don’t do this and just wake up as soon as the alarm rings, this business model might not work for you.

Now what I thought is how a company can exploit this idea(using a certain state of mind) by convincing the customer to “spend” more in short intervals of time to allow more of something they enjoy, or want. An application to this idea could be easily used for massage therapy companies. The customer while receiving a massage has the simple option of pressing a nearby button to extend their massage. When the button is pressed a small fee will automatically be charged, and the massager will continue for a small period of time, and the process can be repeated as long as the customer wants. Now I know this example is brief, but it should work because unlike waking up from the alarm you are not pressed for time, and you can stay for as long you want. The trick to this idea is to get the customer lose count of how many times they pressed the button by consistently make them press the button (5-10 mins), and charge them a small fee (2-3 dollars) and just make them feel in a relaxed state of mind, making them want more.

I know I was brief in this explanation(ill add more info when it comes in mind), but it’s just my initial thoughts, and it probably has flaws Hopefully there is many uses for this model, because it sounds like a good idea. Please if this idea exists don’t report/hate. Lastly please tell what you think of this, or if you can improve it, ect.

posted a message on 385m long range cannon
    Quote from Conundrumer

Just saying that there's already a few instances of 1km shooting cannons. For example:
I actually built one that shoots 2 km. Here are some stats:
    TNT | Distance, in meters
    19 | 285
    38 | 600
    57 | 785
    76 | 810
    114|1385
    133|1565
    152|1610
    170|2065

Unfortunately, due to its complexity, it's pretty unstable (and has room for lots more TNT), so I can't really call it the longest shooting cannon yet. It'll still need a lot of tweaking before I release it.
You might be able to find my old cannons in the "TNT science revived!" thread somewhere in the survival section (I also posted a link to my TNT physics thread on page 2 of this thread). One used 76 TNT to shoot around 1 km. Unfortunately, they don't work anymore due to water not pushing TNT. But the technique of separating horizontal boost from vertical to prevent airbust that allows theoretically unlimited range still works.

But anyways, good luck getting your cannon to hit 1 km. It's so satisfying.

Wow 2k, I'm still trying to get mine to 1k however every time it just blows up in the air. But to be honest I haven't made much of an attempt to modify mine, just been too busy.

    That's quite a clever design!

I've managed to improve on it quite a bit by adding more layers and such. The latest revision fires a payload of 9 TNT about 750m, but there's usually 1-2 TNT that fall short. It's much larger and consumes a ton of TNT though; 57 + payload per shot. There's likely to be room for improvement still; 1 km might be possible with a bigger charge, and there's room for more payload.

    Clicky for some pictures!

Edit: Here's the damage from one shot, from 7 TNT traveling 760-770m.

Holy, that is amazing, please send me a schematic so I can work on it even more.

Yeah. You could make like 7 rows of TNT's, that should make it shoot it 1000 blocks or so....

I tried using more layers for the booster but then the tnt just explodes in the air rather than on the ground, or sometimes it weakens the shot.

Btw to anyone who is having trouble building the cannon, did you put enchanting tables in the base of the tnt cannon?. If that doesn't solve the problem upload a pic and ill try an solve it.
I might even upload a schematic if ppl want it.

Hmmm... seems to me like if the range was 380 to 400 meters, the average would have to be somewhere between 380 and 400 ... :wink.gif:

Oh oops I meant to say 385m, ill fix it.
