No, I'm waiting for a follow-up email from OPSourceCloud. Shouldn't take that long. I was always suspicious of him. (I'm suspicious of almost everyone, and anything that seems too good to be true.)
Alright, you're a student and can't afford $5 a month to buy a server. You're better off dedicating the time you'd spend on your server trying to make more money, or go study in programming where all your money is.
If you REALLY think that your server will be successful and get lots of donations, then skip breakfast for a day to get the $5 you need.
Im thinking about buying one of those 4GB RAM VPS, but i was just wondering if there is any rules what we can use them for. I was thinking about a gmod server and webhosting.
From what he has told me in PM, you're free to do any legal thing you want with the server. Here's the Acceptable Use Policy.
I will give them a week, the service may sound rediculous but the testimonials, and the person mineport_nate is have show that he is making the community better. We'll see. I hope it's not a scam. I really want a server from them.
Yes, I believe the same, which is exactly what I contacted support at those companies in order to verify his authenticity.
Oh, and in case you think I have epic photoshop skills, I can screenshare with you to show you all this and more. I was not alittlebirdie and I'm not even a member of hackforums. I'm more into the game hacking stuff, like minecraft. That's why I'm a member of MPGH and not hackforums.
Oh, and you know how you said it wasn't a direct accusation? It seemed pretty damn direct to me.
I also didn't blow this up into a "public affair" (discounting this series of posts.) I only talked to Soiarn and cxboy about my suspicions. In this thread, other than the beginning when it was practically expected to be questioned, I haven't said a bad word about this service.
Regardless of what actually happened, MinePort will be becoming 100% free within the next 1-2 weeks. I think there were better options on authenticating us rather than making a new account and attacking us there. I'm not directly accusing you of being the one who has attacked us on a spare account, but according to a certain Skype (as it seemed it was Skype) you were wondering things like "damn where the post go" in regard to earlier or quote on quote "I sort of reported them".
A far more professional response to this would be, hey DimensionCloud this is blah blah and I recently purchased a server from a guy using your services. I would like to verify that these servers are not compromised, because as you know there have been recent compromises of servers.
Such responses like these, companies take seriously and would investigate instantly versus having to make this a public affair. This was intended for the good of people, but it ended up being "this guy is a scam"
At this moment it doesn't really matter, once things officially clear up all servers will be kept and future servers will be free with upgradable options.
I have nothing against you, but I just would like to bring it to some attention.
Oh damn! You thought that was me?!!? The only action that I've done was contact NTT communications through their support ticket, and go on OPSourcecloud to go talk on their live chat! I even have a chat transcript if you want it! Clearly Soiarn was your informant as he was the only one I talked to on Skype. He also convenient neglected to mention that I was speaking with employees of OPsourcecloud. For the "Damn, where'd the post go", I was looking for your screenshot that had the ID in it. I sent that information to OPSourcecloud so that they could investigate. For the "I sorta reported him", that meant submitting a ticket to the american NTT communication to verify that you actually work there.
I'd have the Skype convo posted too, but my Skype proxy isn't working at the moment. (The proxy is required for the things I deal with at MPGH)
EDIT: Got a new proxy, here it is. See what I said.
"A far more professional response to this would be, hey DimensionCloud this is blah blah and I recently purchased a server from a guy using your services. I would like to verify that these servers are not compromised, because as you know there have been recent compromises of servers."
That is almost exactly what I did, except I made the mistake of talking to Soiarn who likes twisting my words.
-snip- This new organized MinePort will allow us to be 100% free and give back to the community as originally intended by MinePort, but unfortunately some users (such as rugerty100) felt it was necessary to attack MinePort and try to take it down.
-snip-
No. That was NOT my intention. My intention was to verify the authenticity of this MinePort before moving my server there. I would hate to wake up one day to see my server gone, and I started having doubts after seeing "alittlebirdie" post. As I've told you in PM, I'm a pessimistic person by nature. However, I DO NOT want to attack you and shut you down. I merely wanted to confirm your words that this is legitimate. I love what you're doing for the community, but I can't believe it. It's not the way the world works from what I've experienced. That is why I've done what I've done, NOT because I want to attack you and shut you down.
Rugerty is on target.. Just to note, you can buy a $.50 domain from NetworkSolutions here
What do you mean by total RAM? VPS nodes have sufficient upgradable options to add RAM to your VPS. If you are talking about our MC nodes and if there is enough room to upgrade, let me know (kind of confused).
Waiting for the subscription is fine, we aren't going anywhere
I mean you have a maximum amount of RAM and CPU cores that you're giving out right? If not, I can see this gathering steam and people abusing you to create reseller hosting companies.
Network Solutions, meh. Just me sure to transfer out of there and don't renew. (Regular price of $35/year.)
What about domains though? Can we send you money via Paypal so you can get that set up? Like I want a domain as my IP when they connect. I don't want to go through the hassle of buying it from somewhere else and going through the transfer process
There is no transfer process. You buy it from a popular registrar like namecheap.com and then use and a record to point the domain name at your ip. You can even configure SRV records so that a port isn't needed.
The SAS drives won't bottleneck a 64gb server because with all that ram, you can create a ramdisk.
@Mineport_Nate
About how much of the total ram is sold out? I think I want to upgrade my VPS but I need to balance my money. Haha. I guess buying later is a good idea.
Once my one year subscription for my current VPS ends, I think I'll move my server over here. In the mean time, it'll be a nice creative world with Bungee.
I'm very skeptical about the one time fee, what can you give me for some sort of reassurance?
Sure, be skeptical, but he has GREAT reviews and a legitimate story for how he can provide the servers. You not buying just means more for the rest of us.
Hello, I have a craftbukkit server and recently there was some memory problems. I've changed a lot, so don't tell me to try and remember what I changed. (My last resort is completely redoing everything.)
The maximum memory for my server has no problems. When I say /mem, it says that there is a maximum memory of 2730mb, but the allocated memory is 282mb. Worse still, the free memory is 94mb. I've tried to see if it's a scaling number by getting many people to join the server and doing large worldedits. The allocated memory part stays the same, and everyone starts lagging. This is on a 4gb RAM machine, yes I have 64 bit Java.
Please, help me diagnose the problem.
This is the startup script that I have tried. java -Xms2G -Xmx3G -jar craftbukkit.jar
I was using McMyAdmin when this problem occurred. I tried starting the server without McMyAdmin but this still occurs. I honestly have no idea.
I've ran the exact same files on a Windows 2012 server and a CentOs6 server. Same results.
PROS
Probably worlds cheapest host.
Probably worlds best host to price ratio.
Intel XEON CPU (Extremely Overpowered!)
Dedicated RAM
1 Gigabit/s Up-link
SAS High-Speed 15K RPM Hard Disk Drives
Multicraft Administration Panel
Full FTP Access
1-Click Plug-in Installation (BukGet)
Unlimited MySQL Databases
Extensive Volunteer Support
Absolutely No Lag Under Fair Use
Absolutely Lowest Latency
Supports Custom Modifications (.JAR Files)
One Time Payment, No Monthly Bills
24/7 Uptime
CONS
No dedicated IP, though this can be purchased and is worth every penny.
No European locations.
CONCLUSION
This is definitely the cheapest, most reliable and best host you'll ever see. Please, do me a favor, don't even consider using another hosting company than MinePort.
RATING
Eleven out of ten.
Don't buy from any other hosting company? Wow. That's quite an endorsement from someone who owns a hosting company. Haha. And he doesn't give out free dedicated ips? Also, the UK location will come out soon.
I'm not comfortable enough to think about paying $20 for VPS up to 4gb. What is the downside that I'm not reading here?
There is no downside. This is a person with a heart of gold, just out to support the community. I know I know, it sounds unbelievable right? All these people on the internet out to do you harm. Look at the first reply on this thread. I doubted him at first, but he turns out to be an honest and nice person. (A little too nice.)

I believe that he got it legitimately from his company. Maybe it's unused servers or this is an advertising campaign?
From what he has told me in PM, you're free to do any legal thing you want with the server. Here's the Acceptable Use Policy.

Then answer this. Why can you not pay for your own damn server?

Yes, I believe the same, which is exactly what I contacted support at those companies in order to verify his authenticity.
Thanks. I wish I knew that beforehand. At least I have a copy of the Skype convo.

Fixed. I think? Nevermind.
