posted a message on Its already happened.
Ok so I downloaded the new snapshot and loaded the world that is closest to the nearest NPC village. I knew I wouldn't have much time but unfortunately I was several chunks away as I had been exploring my first stronghold. I threw all the gear in a chest that I wouldn't need and set off as fast as I could. The sun was already falling.

The night was bad, there was no way I had any time to dig down or find shelter. Skeletons and Creepers everywhere. I stopped off in a small forest which provided enough cover for me to stuff some bread down my throat to keep me going. It started to rain but I pushed forward unable to think of anything less than the worst.

Lucky I had brought my compass. I soon saw the warm glow in the distance and dashed towards the comfort and safety that the torches around my home provided. I ran inside and slammed the door, only to hear to hear the savage pounding upon it a few minutes later. I opened it before the beast was able to smash my trusty door of its hinges and quickly dispatched the creature.

Unfortunately, I had a strong feeling I was too late. As the sun rose, I sprinted towards the village that I had built my home near on the edge of the river. My heart fell when I located the first empty doorway.

Every house, even the church now had gaping holes in the front where comfort had once resided. Every villager was gone.

    DAMN YOU ZOMBIES!!!!!

P.S. I like the update, just wish I had had a chance to wall the area off first... Ill probably switch the world to Creative for a few mins to spawn some more... :sad.gif:

Yea, if you don't check its gunna hurt haha.

Also discovered (don't know why I hadn't realized yet) that if you hold shift on a vine you hang on and stay still! Bloody useful for on putting those first few blocks down without some gigantic scaffolding. Im adding another bridge and platform to the nearest tree at the moment. Maybe Ill put my melon farm and everything up there only ever needing to go down to mine.

    Edit: fixed typosssss

lol thanks. The jungle is what makes it so fun. I use vines to climb everywhere. Walking through the undergrowth everyday for wood or fish is difficult and sometimes very rewarding, like when you time the jump well and hang onto a vine you didn't think you could. Very easy to get lost in though which is why having a house so far above the canopy is great as a landmark.

Yea I never have creeper problems up high and Im up all night regularly. I always spend the day collecting wood (like, a lot) and then spend all night building. Never had to use the bed yet. In fact, due to the foliage, I have only had to kill a few zombies and 2 creepers in all the times I have been caught out on the forest floor at night time.

Admittedly, when I have heard the dreaded creeper sssSSSS then generally it has caused me to jump off something rather high anyway due to the mountainous nature of my jungle home. Luckily I have landed in lakes every time but not looking forward to when I won't.

Yep, using shift. But there is something funky with shift when using it on stairs (which comprise at least half of the bridge's length).

I can understand the extra enjoyment you would be getting out of it building with your sis. More sentimental value :smile.gif:

Thanks, That was just today's work. Im going to add more with some buildings at lower levels, eventually the network will reach the forest floor.

Its a pain to build up there, I fell so many times building the bridge. Takes a lot of wood too. Totally worth it tho.

Absolutely loving the jungle biome. One of the most beautiful and unique biomes yet. Thanks Jeb and Mojang!
Found my first jungle exploring in creative. Stumbled upon it while lazily flying around. My jaw completely dropped to the floor. Massive hills akin to a mountain biome with small lakes dotted about and all of this covered in lush undergrowth and giant trees stretching into an endless sky.

I was inspired. I tend to be a survivalist and not a builder, however, using NBTedit I immediately moved my spawn into that jungle and switched the game mode to survival. I wanted to build but I also wanted to work for it.

This is (so far) the result:

    Pretty no?

And this is before I got DokuCraft:

    More to come.

Are all jungles so mountainous? Or just this one?

There is something so creepy and yet hilarious about all their derpy little faces surging forward, crushing all their brothers and sisters including their tiny newborn lambs, all for a little wheat. Not a single blade of grass would be safe within several square miles from the derp-sheep-pocalypse.

I can't imagine what they would all sound like :biggrin.gif:

posted a message on If Jungles don't appear...
Correct me if I'm wrong somebody, but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere the issue is related to the giant trees found in Jungle biomes. The old code had leaves disappearing only a few blocks away from the trunk. With the inclusion of these giant trees (which have leaves much further from the trunk) in an old world, many of the leaves would disappear from the edges leaving them as the ugly deformed monsters they would be (unless perhaps the player could be bothered to put the leaves back when the code is fixed).

However, a new world has the fix already, so the leaves stay put. Perhaps this issue will be fixed before 1.2 is release or perhaps I know less than a garden shrub and no-one should listen to me. Either way, we will have to wait.

Iv been flying around for about 10 minutes and I gotta say I freaking love the new generation. From the massive new variety to the MUCH better transitions between Swamps and other places I reckon Jeb has made a giant step towards perfect terrain generation.

Yes, I would like to see beaches a little flatter and their own individual sizes but this is still a massive improvement. I'm glad I didn't walk far in my newest world as now I can't wait to explore it!

The second coming of the beaches.

This comes along with the epic new terrain generation.
    Thank you Jeb.

Ended up deleting over 50,000 chickens and there was still enough for me to go out and get a stack of chicken meat and a stack of feathers.

At least now I can make arrows lol a nice silver lining.

Actually the theory that there is now 1000-2000 animals in my world in one spot sounds pretty close to the mark.

Copied the house over to another map with same seed and some of the red squares were copied with it.
When I went to visit the house and see if it came over ok I found more chickens than I have ever seen in one place (and thats only a tiny number compared to how many I can see on MCedit).

There was a huge hole in the ground behind the house too leading down to the void... so I had a little fun punching some of those dam lag-creating-world-wrecking-mindless #$!@%W%'s down to certain death.

Is there any way to correct this bug? Maybe perhaps deleting a few hundred using mcedit might do the trick...
