Goodbye everyone. I'm leaving minecraftforums, probably forever, never to come back again. I liked it better back when it was small scale, and it looked like this. I just don't like the style. If I could bring back the old one I would, but oh well... what are you going to do. When Curse joined the community sites, I had a bad feeling. I'm sure Curse is great... The style changed to drastically, my favorite people are gone (I think, Zurkri, AlexVMiner, Snowman, Quatroking...), and last time I checked (half a year ago) this place was over-run by kids and the only place I liked was "Forum Discussion" and "Forum and Site Information".
So I guess this is goodbye, no-one even knows how to kill a dragon anymore. Its not worth staying.
No-one will even read this either.... Whatever....
What I'd like to know is how many of you were here when a single block of water could have flooded the world.
I think that notch has made the water system way better than it was then!
Also, give the guy a break. He said that he will try it tomorrow, and if he tries it and fails, the world is not going to end! If he tries it and gets it right, then we have a working water model that notch can implement into the vanilla game.
I know that we have tried to figure out a working model and we have always failed but, that doesn't mean that this guy will fail too! He's just really likely to fail!
From what i have learned about modding, ITS HARD! yo need to have the right programs, and the right knowledge. Notch is an excellent programmer, so it will not be easy understanding his work. Not to mention finding it...
I was going to say that good programmers comment their work, but when it gets translated into java byte-code you loose all the comments.
Why can't someone write a program to send a GET request to the server the ads are hosted on?
There is no way for them to know that no one is really looking at them.
All they know is some program asked to see them and they should credit your account!
Alright, time for you smart people to rip apart my suggestion into tiny pieces and point out every flaw! :biggrin.gif:
The point is it's fraud, it's wrong and nobody should do it. If you don't want to see what's in the adverts do not click them. The money from the adverts comes from advertisers, yeah lots of clicks helps us more but it's taken money from advertisers.
Don't click the adverts unless you're interested, you're being unfair to advertisers and it also risks getting us banned.
Our company posted an ad today, and it would be horrible to have somebody use a program to increase the click count. This is very bad for the industry as a whole, many kids see it as something fun and cool, but computer generated clicks run up our budget and decrease the chance to returning to advertise if we see the conversion rate (Real Click = Real Person vs. Fake Click = No Person) to high for fake clicks than there isn't a point to advertise.
The majority of online game developers are dependent on sales and advertisements to help bring in money for the community. As “citricsquid” posted above me, it is also considered fraud and minecraft can potentially lose their advertisement platform if their host believes their users are breaking the terms of service, which specifically state that no computer generated clicks are allowed.
The moral of the story – if you like the ads – click on them... if you don’t than just ignore them.
Thanks,
Ryan

I think I get it!
The advertisers pay for sites to host their ads (like Tiger87's). And forums, wiki's, sites, ect. get paid to host them.
If someone writes a program to do the GET request, Its like someone working at the bank and putting all the money in the advertisers account into criticsquid's account. And anyways ...
If the advertisers find out that no one is looking at there ads, they take them off the ad site. If that happens on a large scale, the ad market crashes and there are no ads for any sites to host. Then, because there are no ads, the minecraft forum and anything else relying on the money they get from having ads, don't have any money to host. They all go bankrupt and it turns into a big mess ...

I have a major complaint about calling this software "shareware".
Shareware implies "you gotta pay to use it". Call it donateware or something.
Maybe freeware:
Quote from Wikipedia »
The term shareware is used in contrast to retail software, which refers to commercial software available only with the purchase of a license which may not be copied for others, public domain software, which refers to software not copyright protected, and freeware, which refers to copyrighted software for which the author solicits no payment (though he or she may request donations).

He had stated a while back that he browses the suggestion forum for ideas.
But, I think that the Halloween update section has a little two much speculation.
On the other hand, only two more days until the Halloween update goes live! thats only two more days of speculation. I think we can handle that!
