I've read that the adding of capes via Mods is no longer permitted under the new EULA. Does this mean that the capes will be removed from Optifine if you've donated?
I'm a pretty simple guy and have only built rather small structures so I searched around to find something that was a bit bigger. Now, I know this isn't huge and much more grand houses have been made but for me it's a major upgrade. So I thought I'd share the tutorial video:
I didn't do it exactly like he did. I actually made the attic space into a storage area rather than for redstone lighting like he did. I don't have enough stuff to make Redstone Lamps anyway so I just went with torches. I was able to fit 22 double chests in the attic with enough room to label their contents neatly with signs.
It wasn't all that hard to make in creative mode either.
Anyway, just thought I'd share in case someone else was interested.
I'm new to Redstone and found the Good Guy Door on Youtube:
I'm trying to wrap my head around how it works and I think I've gotten most of it on my own but what is hanging me up right now is the button. It's two blocks above the stickly piston which normally wouldn't work. Clearly the button is working with the rest of the circuit in some way but from what I can see it's two or more blocks away from everything else.
How can the button not power the piston but somehow interact with the rest of the circuit? Clearly I'm missing some key point. I'd appreciate an explanation to help increase my understanding.
Sweet. And btw, Optif. 1.7.4 works perfectly with 1.7.5
I've tried to get OptiFine to work with 1.7.5 by installing it the manual way exactly like I did on 1.7.4 but it crashes. Can you give the details of your installation method? Maybe we are missing a step.
With Fancy graphics turned on Minecraft is practically unplayable on my old junky laptop. Optifine has made it playable with the higher quality. I just wanted to say thanks.
I can see the idea of a creeper getting through and blowing things up. I don't have the structure I'm building over my portal fully secure yet so things could walk in if they wanted to. I've turned off the portal for now to avoid problems like that. I'm probably 99% certain that I didn't left click on the way through but it's possible. Though, I did have a Pig Man come through the portal back to the Overworld with me and I killed him there. Though, I think I had one or two trips in between where they Pig Men weren't hostile.
Even if a Ghast could blow up cobble it would have had to spawn into the cavern I'm in. I'm pretty sure a ghast can fit in the space but the entrances are to small.
Still, very strange. I'm going to be ultra cautious and stash most of my inventory before I go through next time just in case. Having to go back into a mob of hostiles to get your stuff back kind of sucks.
First let me say that I'm a newb to Minecraft so this is probably a mistake on my part.
I made my first trip to the Nether without a problem and built a little cobble house around the portal to stop the zombie pig men from coming through. My first trip was successful but later on when I went back I spawned in a new portal just outside my protective house and was immediately attacked and killed by the zombie pig men. Additionally, there was a large hole blown in the side of the house I built around the portal and the portal was turned off.
Just to be clear, this was all on the Nether side of the portal. The overworld side was fine.
I have no idea what happened and am very confused. Anyone have an idea what I did wrong if anything?

UPDATE: Silly me. I figured it out. I just had to extract the files and delete the _macosx directory.
