I'm planning on upgrading my CPU at some point, from my current i5 750 @2.66GHz to an i7-2600K @3.4GHz.
I've never built a PC before, only opened it up to clean out the dust. It's just a pre-built Alienware computer (hurr derr alienwarelolololol). Here's a list of some questions I'd like answered:
What precautions should I take?
Is there anything I need to do with my BIOS/Motherboard/personal files before installing?
What should I not touch?
Is there a better CPU I could be upgrading to for about the same price or less than the one mentioned?
How difficult is it going to be?
Do I need to completely disassemble my computer to install it?
Is the CPU I mentioned even compatible?
And since it'll probably be helpful, here's my current computer specs:
I can just look up youtube videos and tutorials online on how to install it, but I don't know of any prerequisites I need to take. Can someone list these? I'm not going to be upgrading anytime soon I don't think, so I'm in no hurry for answers.
I also heard I need thermal paste, where can I get this and how do I use it?
I'm sorry for never learning how to build a computer. Thanks for your help.
Anti-aliasing is usually the cause of this, since Minecraft doesn't normally support it. Try going into your display driver settings and check if it's disabled.
I had to re-install windows 7 on mine due to a whole lot of compatibility problems. Best bet is to wait until all the software for programs is updated for it.
You could do better, try 3960X with msi bigbangpower and 64 gb of ram. Also get an h100
Yeah, I don't know parts that well. I just kinda threw together all the expensive and powerful looking things. That's one of the reasons why I like doing this... So I can find new and better parts and if they work together.
Sometimes, I'm not sure why, but I just like to build whatever I can on PC Part Picker. And so today I built this. I don't understand how this even works or if it does at all.
Not necessarily a fail from myself but from a friend. Actually a couple fails.
1. We were running fairly low on iron. I asked him to craft 16 rails to finish up our track. He thought I said 60. And he crafted a stack for himself, too. -__-
2. Shortly after above-mentioned incident: He needed a new pickaxe, so he grabbed a stack of iron from the chest. He spread them out in the crafting table and did the same with the sticks. He shift-clicked. He thought it would only craft one pickaxe. He was wrong.

And that means...?

When I right-clicked the minecraft.exe, there was an option to "run with..." 1.Integrated Graphics 2. NVIDIA graphics.
Is there a similar option for you when you right-click the launcher?

I was thinking the same thing.
Also, I think we should all pitch in and find the absolute most powerful and best of each part category.
As I said above I don't know much about most parts, so replace the bad/outdated parts with some new and better parts!
Let's construct the best (non-government/nasa) computer ever! But you guys will have to lead me through it :< I at least got something started though.

That would normally only go up to 1920x1080p, and you can't separate things like games or maximized windows to certain sections to multitask.

Something like this lol

For those of you too lazy to go to the site:
Has anyone else built crazy rigs? Power socket destroyers? Pocket empty-ers? Costs-so-low-a-hobo-can-buy-it?

I seriously cannot find that much gold for the life of me.
I HAVE MORE DIAMONDS THAN GOLD FOR ****S SAKE.
I think they need to up the spawn rates for it a slight bit.

You could either replace your entire floor with one of these blocks or light it up.

I'm usually killed by pure ********.
Also quick tip: Don't fight two endermen at once. They will **** you up if you have anything less than diamond armor.
