Okay guys so I am setting up an RPG world that will have a town above the surface. This being said, the ground level will be survival mode. This doesn't mean you are free to do absolutely whatever you want though. PVP may be enabled, I haven't decided yet, but the only time attacking another player will be allowed is in the arena or if caught stealing/trespassing. If you catch someone stealing or trespassing you must warn them to leave immediately and return what they may have taken. If they don't comply you have the right to attack and matters will be dealt with by admins. Grieving is not allowed! Now that I have the brutal part out of the way I can start talking about the server.
So the server is basically a floating town, you will start at spawn with the rules and once you have carefully read them, yes please read them, we didn't kill our thumbs on the joysticks for no reason, you can take the minecart up to town. You will find a HUGE open area for the community. Immediately to your right will be a list of jobs and which ones need to be filled. There will be a limit based on how many people join the server for each job. I will come back to jobs later.
The currency is sponge and you will be provided with 2 stacks to start out with and a starter pack of your choosing. These packs are:
Adventurer: For those of you who want to explore outside of the town and take on the unknown! This comes with 10 cooked steaks, full leather armor and a stone sword.
Homebody: You love your little town and couldn't imagine leaving it. You will be given 3 cakes and an extra 20 sponges!
Aristocrat: All you care about is being the wealthiest player and hope to one day roll around in sponge. You just earned yourself an extra stack of sponges!
Home Sweet Home: Everyone needs a place they can call home. Here is a stack and a half of wood to get you started on your new place.
Now I have yet to mention what the town looks like. The town, with the exception of a few buildings, is meant to be built by the community! Once the key areas are structured, the game will be left in survival mode. The point of this is to keep the game going for a long period of time. I have experienced servers that were completely furnished up to the point that is was an entire city!! I'm sure that it took the creators months to build. But when everything is already done, it can get boring quickly. The community of players will pull together to create a booming economy. I'm sure you have all played on servers with jobs. What rpg server doesn't have jobs? I haven't seen the point to most of these jobs. They would have miners and wood cutters, which is great, but anyone could do what they do if they wanted to. That is why I propose this for the jobs.
Players of certain positions will be given a pass that will identify their position and grant access to areas in which they can acquire materials for his or her job. I will now explain that different titles that are currently up. We are open to suggestions as well.
Miner: The miner will be the only position allowed to mine for any materials including, but not limited to, cobblestone, iron, coal, diamond, and other related materials. He or she may keep the find but are encouraged to also supply other positions. For example. the miner can sell coal to the butcher so that he may cook his food. He can sell iron to the adventurer or guard for protection. In order to balance this position since it reaps quite the reward miners will not be permitted to own shops. If a miner wants to sell any items, it must be sold to a shop or a position with a need for the supply. I have also decided sponge as the currency instead of gold nuggets for the same advantageous reasons of being a miner.
Farmer: The farmer will be the only position allowed to harvest any materials that grow such as sugar cane, watermelon, and nether warts. The farmer will be given a small plot of land, half price, to set up his farm. Players can come to him for the food he grows as well.
Butcher: The butcher will provide cooked foods to the people of the community. A lesser charge will accounted for if a customer brings their own food to be cooked. The butcher is the only position allowed to kill animals in the town. We understand that those who explore outside the town walls may run low on hunger and therefore are allowed to harvest food, but only outside of the town. The butcher is also allowed to breed the animals in town.
Alchemist: The alchemist will be the only position allowed to make potions. He can obtain nether warts from the farmer. This job is best suited after a nether portal has been created.
Mob Killer/Adventurer: This position will be suited for those who like to explore and battle it out beyond the depths of the wall. The adventurer will be provided with a chain chestplate and legs and can keep all killings made from mobs.
There will also be town jobs. Though they are limited now, we can expect to see new positions emerge with our residents.
Construction Worker: Though all players can build their own shops and houses, the construction worker is a professional in his field. He will not be paid daily like the other town jobs but will be provided all materials for building by the customer and given a discount for any building supplies.
Cop/Guard:The cop will be responsible for keeping the town safe from any mobs that might find their way in. They will also help the admins keep the peace between citizens and enforce the rules. Cops will be given a set of armor with a sword and will be paid 2 sponge a day.
Landscaper: The landscaper will be needed if we decide to build another town on the survival land. He will clear the area for any new buildings/landmarks.
Mayor: ???
Each job will also grant an up-gradable starter pack that will be decided in time for a fee.
The arena will be an area to take out aggression and place bets! Two or more contestants may participate with a mutual agreement on rules and winnings. All duels will be granted and monitored by an admin to ensure fairness.
Additions will be made here and suggestions are encouraged. I would love to get some feedback and fresh ideas to integrate into this world!
We will be taking applications now, and the server will be up soon.

I will also allow a couple players with good ideas, and who can build, for key buildings to start out with to join for the final phase of pre-building.
Hey everybody, under the clearance with reynold232, a second world is being created where if he is not on or he has a full lobby, everyone can join, it will have a close matched economy, with identical jobs (jobs are not guaranteed to be the same you have in his server), and me as admin, keep an eye on the server posts for "Athens Server" an RPG server... note: it is not out yet, but a post will be first made here then a post officially for the server launch until then, have fun and don't dig directly up
