I've just finished Corona Trials playing in coop on Realms. It took us ~7 hours; I admit, we kinda rushed the map (no emerald hunting), probably beacause we wanted to see what else you have in store for us. Intersection 1 was a fun introduction into the map, with Chillblast Pit being my favourite; really great take on the "cold" theme. I wasn't that impressed with Intersection 2... or maybe "impressed" is a wrong word, because all areas offered beautiful vistas. I simply didn't like the dark purple place (Gemlight something?) and the jungle was super confusing (finding the way to IS3... yeah... apparently I am blind). Corona Chamber was were the difficulty drastically ramped up, mainly due to blazes and a lack of fire resistance potions on our part. Fortunately, the next area had all the diamonds in the world, easily accessible via tunneling (sorry :P). And the IS3... IS3 was perfect. Great builds, two awesome castles to storm, great builds, jaw-dropping recreation of the solar system, HAVE I MENTIONED THE GREAT BUILDS??
I'd like to see more custom mobs & loot, plus more lore books, but that's just my preference ;)
And having some regen/speed stations in the monument area would be nice (perhaps make them unlockable after obtaining a given amount of wool blocks?). We have a very liberal approach to CTMs, so I went ahead and actually added them :P
Overall it was a great choice for a returning player like me (and my teammate Geminos) - thanks for making the map!
Next on the list - Myriad Caves :)

Thanks for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed it! :D

This may be a silly question but....what if an emerald or 10 were lost because me or someone else in my party died? We got all the wool...just can't complete the emeralds :(

Help! It seems Emerald 9 which I'd already collected, has gone missing from my Monument chest some how! I went back to check the place I got it from, just to make sure, and all of the chests in the places I have turned into 'strong holds' and I can not find the emerald anywhere. If I some how dropped it somewhere, or there is some other reason it went missing after I'd already collected it, is there any way at all to get it back? It's the only emerald my friend and I would be missing.

I personally don't mind if you went in creative mode and just copied one of the other emeralds as a sign of that you got it. You found it, which is the main challenge. It's only a side challenge that you get it back safe. (The commands look for the chest being filled up with emeralds with a certain tag, the different name doesn't matter. (That means you can put in all the emerald out of order)) You completed the main challenge, so you do deserve it. It just depends on if you are that finicky about it not being the legit one. (I might make it so every emerald box has multiple emeralds, or if you open every emerald chest it spawns a few extra at the monument for if you lost a few)

Hello there! I would like to drop in quickly to give a bit of a status update on where things are heading.
So first things first, I have been having some pc problems which need time to fix, so I have been absent a lot as I'm trying to find and fix the problems.
Secondly, this is probably the most asked question I have gotten: Will there be a next map? The answer is definitely yes! I have a lot of plans on new maps. I have two big maps and one smaller map planned, but progress on these is going to be slow for a while as the pc problems are present.
Thirdly, The custom food system tends to break a lot, and this causes a lot of problems in the map. I'm thinking of moving the whole system to functions (so in a text file, instead of all the command blocks, something nifty for map makers). Besides this I'm going to need a fail-safe system. Minecraft isn't a game without it's fair share of bugs (what a surprise, I know) and they tend to break the scoreboards of my food system or the command blocks.

So yeah, New maps are still happening, it's just going to take a while. I will probably post some teaser pictures in here over time as well. (or on my twitter, twitter.com/renderXR)

I have to say, this map is amazing! Anytime I play a new CTM map by anyone other than Vechs, I can't help but be overly nervous for traps, or overly hard enemie, etc. But this map had an amazing balance of enemies, loot, and design of areas (layout of individual areas/originality from area to area.) The map is STUNNING to look at, my favorite part of each intersection (and 'mini' intersections to farther wools from other areas) was breaking through the glass to see what you would surprise me with next!!

As an experienced CTM player I found the map to be challenging (where I couldn't just charge into areas) but enabled me to be confident enough to take the 'fun path' for the entirety of the map. Very few maps find the proper balance! (even some of Vech's don't) I only died once (and it was after I had already cleared the Deep Dark Dungeon - Purple wool) and it was from a fricking enderman that I decided to try to kill :( but I should have died another 3-5 times as I went down to half-a-heart multiple times lol xP

My favorite area had to be Crying Crystal Redux, it reminded me of areas from Legendary, Waking up, and Spellbound Caves (that's high praise coming from me, those are my three all time favorite CTMs, and actually many areas had a similar feel to a Vech's map) enough for an old school CTMer like me to feel comfortable but not so much that I ended up bored with the map. I loved loved loved how you redid the healing/food, and altered the mob drops, it felt somewhat like Beta 1.7.3, but without the glitchy mobs!

Thank you for making an amazing map, and I look forward very much to when your next map comes out, I will most definitely be playing it!

Really glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the kind words!

Thank you. I will try that. :)

You know what would also be helpful? A list of things to find in every area.
Not a hint to WHERE they are - just a list of what is there so that if you miss something you can go and search for it again.

    Like:

    "Area XY
    1 Treasure chest
    2 enchanted book chests
    1 wool chest
    3 emerald chests
    1 surprise thing"
    or something along these lines.

Maybe even only "Area XY - 5 chests including wool and emerald, 1 surprise".

Because I'm not certain whether I got everything. ^ ^

I only like to do that with the actual objectives as it's better to find a nice chest with loot without knowing that it's coming up. Literally saying what loot is in the whole area could just ruin the feeling of 'what will I find in this area?' and in return, you lose some of the feelings of exploration and discovery.

Please tell me what the puzzles mean!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pictures of the puzzles im talking about in my above post.

There is actually a developer commentary I did with Lorgon111 over on his YouTube channel in which we talk about the process of designing this map. Those puzzles are explained in there as well.

The function of the records isn't just doing damage. For instance, one is a spammable knockback weapon, another one is good for getting extra drops with fortune and looting. You can also switch them from mainhand to offhand pretty quickly as well as they are spammable. So if you know an enemy is almost dead you can switch to a looting disc and kill it with it.

Some chunks seem to have gotten corrupted and replaced with generated terrain. I recommend just getting a fresh copy of the map. Did you open the map in an older version? As older versions have this behavior on chunks with chests in them.

    A small announcement:

Corona Trials will be published on Realms (for 1.12) on Friday the 30th! If you own a realm, you can pick it up and play it with your buddies!

Really big thank you for supporting me on this long journey! Keep being you (so keep being awesome) :D

Speaking of updates, I actually just updated the Corona Trials to Minecraft 1.12! It's mainly a compatibility update, so there isn't much changed. I only made it a bit more obvious where the spawners are in the first dungeon as some new players kept dying as they didn't find the spawners under the pillar while not lighting everything up right.

It's recommended to build a base in vicinity of the monument.

Just finished a massive 4 hour stream of Corona Trials. Very good looking map. Will post video here as soon as Youtube processes it :)

Edit: Hey render, I found a lot of enchanted books from the village in Aurora Valley but haven't come across any anvils yet. Did I miss any in the starting area or the monument? I haven't finished checking every part of Aurora Valley yet so it's possible that I'll find one later in the area.

Very glad you are enjoying it! No you are not missing anything in those areas.

Corona Trials is now officially out of beta! Thanks to everyone who played previous versions and supplied feedback!

There have mainly been bug fixes, but the most noticeable change is the removal of the sprinting/stamina system. It mainly did the opposite of what I wanted and fixing it would be too costly performance wise, so ridding of it was a better solution. The sprinting is now basically back to Myriad's sprinting system.
