I just now had this happen to me as well. Recipe book showed nothing craftable, and manually crafting wouldn't work either. I rebooted my whole PC, and I'm able to craft again, so you might give that a try.

Paper doll is a small version of your character in the upper left corner that shows up when you're running or crouching... a welcome addition since my partner constantly crouches without realizing it only to be blasted by a creeper.

As for the monetization of the game, how else do you expect them to continue to support and develop a game that some people purchased as many as 5 years ago? It's either this or sequel after sequel after sequel like many other game studios would do. The fact that Minecraft is still going strong after so long from a development perspective is mind-boggling, and I just don't understand everyone whining about a company wanting to make money.

Also, if you don't like it, go play the Java Edition... it's not going anywhere yet and still has features that Bedrock doesn't, such as shields. The Java Edition has always been isolated... absolutely NOTHING has changed about the Java Edition. I'd honestly bet that the death of Java itself will be what kills the Java Edition... if you want to blame anyone, blame Notch for ever building the game on such a broken platform to begin with.

Still no update on Windows 10 here. I even left the insider program and uninstalled and reinstalled only to get 1.1.5, so now my Android devices are on 1.2 but my PC on the beta, so now we can't play together due to the version mismatch. Seriously aggravating! It would be "better together" if the releases were actually done together.

That is completely false. Microsoft lets Mojang operate highly independently with their own separate staff. Mojang is owned by Microsoft but is still its own company. Secondly, just because a company has a lot of money doesn't mean they can turn their business into a consumer charity. You want other people to do the hard work for you and then don't want to give anything in return. This isn't just about MS making money... the community members who put content into the store also receive a cut of the sales, so there is finally an integrated way for content creators to make money off of their hard work.

If you want something for free, go make it yourself.

Ignore this reply... the edit button was missing on the OP, but now it's there, so now it's edited and this second post isn't necessary. :)

posted a message on My world just rolled back to the original seed!!! :'(

I had just taken a backup of my world prior to messing with commands, and as I feared, I created a mess and needed to revert to my backup, but when I deleted the original and replaced it with the backup, my world has reverted itself as if I just loaded the seed for the first time! This just undid two months of work and joy my partner and I have shared together, and I don't know how to get it back! Am I completely hosed, or is there any solution? I've searched everywhere and can't really find anything. Can I mess with DB files or the manifest-###### file or level.dat or anything to get this thing to load back all that we've done? This is basically a game killer for us... it took me 5 months to convince my partner to even play MC, and now he's even more hooked than I am, and now that this has happened he'll probably never play again. I deeply hope someone can help! I'm pretty tech-savvy, so technical answers are more than welcome!

Update: I just found another backup from two weeks ago, and that does the EXACT same thing! It takes forever at "Loading Resources", and then spawns me into a fresh world without anything we've done. It also acts extremely laggy and doesn't work properly. How is that even possible?!

posted a message on Change player name without changing player

I've looked everywhere and can't figure this out! When I change a player's name, it assumes it's a new player and starts them out empty-handed at the spawn point. How on earth can I change a player's name without the game assigning them as a whole new player? The main issue is I'm trying to log all my devices out of XBLive, but my partner can't because now his player is locked to that account... Even signing out and using the same name doesn't work. All info I've found seems outdated or is about the Java edition... Is there any way to change player data in PE 1.1.5?

Let's be honest, if they didn't monetize the game in some way, we would just get "sequels" and be up to like Minecraft 4 by now. In my case, I bought PE on Android at release when it was on sale for 10¢ and then the Win 10 edition for $10. Spending ten bucks for a game and then receiving SIGNIFICANT updates over several years is unheard of! Without monetization, the game would die off and stop receiving updates. Monetization also helps the community's content creators by giving them a way to make money just like app developers and musicians on their respective platforms. I would rather see Minecraft live on forever with in-app-purchases than receive endless sequel after sequel in a different attempt to make money. Expecting everything for free is greedy and selfish, and we need to stop collectively whining that the people who work on this amazing piece of software want to be paid for their work and feed their families.
