Well it's been a while! Staying busy with projects and customers.. and aside from the pricing argument going on here we've still got many happy customers. :smile.gif:

Either way, I just wanted to pop in here and let people know we're still very much alive, running at full speed and happily taking on new customers and keeping the existing ones happy. We're going to be making a few changes with the way things are set up over the coming weeks and finally getting to some of those 'promised' features we've been putting off for too long.

We're also going to be having a sale starting shortly, to introduce some new hosting packages more geared towards the novice/non-linux users who want smaller slot options and easier control.

Sorry for the lack of updates/posts here but I'll be back to posting my rear off here shortly. :smile.gif:

TheFrostyKillers, So long as your setup will run and perform fine on the Tier you end up purchasing, yes you would simply upload your existing server setup to our system and run it there. You get full root access for SFTP/SSH to add/remove/edit files for your server - you get full control over everything. If you're not familiar with the Linux operating system or using SSH, there may be a slight learning curve for you to be able to administer your setup with us, but it's really not difficult in any way. And yes, you can definitely choose your own subdomain, so long as it is not already in use by another customer.

Sorry I guess that is kind of misleading - we're running the sale through the 5th of July until 11:59PM - since we got sort of a late start on the day today we're extending it through to tomorrow night.

SomnolentNATHAN, I'm sorry to hear you're having troubles with your current provider.. but let me see if I can help sort out your questions and perhaps we can get you set up and online shortly. :smile.gif:

There really isn't too much to know regarding running a server on Linux - if you're a complete novice to the idea, I'd suggest using CentOS and perhaps choosing a control panel like McMyAdmin or similar. We can definitely help you get going either way, we've taught dozens of customers who to use Linux for their first time and they're all doing great with it. As for moving your existing world - you absolutely can. Simply download the 'world' folder from your current provider to your computer and once you're set up with us, you'd upload it to our systems using SFTP (just like FTP) and you're good to go.

Hope that helped! If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to reply, email or PM!

We don't have any unanswered tickets on file - what email did you use when you sent in the ticket? I apologize in the delay in responding to the PM here, but I had not been on my account here in a bit and I was under the impression that your contact through our ticket system was answered. This really is a rarity and I hope all is well with MP - they're a great host so I am sure you'll be happy there. :smile.gif:

You really don't need to know a whole lot to run a system on Linux. If you read through the replies here or our reviews on GSPRating you'll notice we've helped quite a few users get going with Linux that have had no past experience whatsoever. The only change you'd need to make for your server to run on a Linux system is basically your startup script, Windows uses batch (.bat) files and Linux uses shell script (.sh) files... but we provide you with that so really there's nothing you'd need to do yourself. All of the files are available through SFTP (Secure FTP) which is basically just like Windows Explorer and you'll be able to drag/drop files to and from your computer to our systems with extreme ease. Oh also, as per your question about 'leveling out' things in relation to plugins/player slots, yeah that is about how it works. We don't give you a 'limit' on slots, your only limitations are the actual capabilities of the VPS itself, so if your plugins don't use much in the way of resources then you can fit what the vanilla system could or possibly more.

If you have AIM or Skype, after your purchase I'd be happy to talk you through the 5 or so things you'll have to know/remember to be able to run a server on Linux, if you'd like. Just shoot me a PM or open a support ticket, after you've completed the order, with your contact info.

I apologize if my previous reply was misleading.. with our systems you are more than welcome to use any mods/addons/plugins/etc you want. I wasn't saying you can't use it, just that our slot numbers are based off of a vanilla set up.

We basically give you a provisioned Linux system with full root access to the entire OS, you can run anything you want from it, including Craftbukkit.

Emcitement, the Tier 1 system can hold around 15-20 people on average, though this can change depending on how many plugins you install, how big your map is, etc etc. We based our numbers mostly off a vanilla setup since when we made our packages, Craftbukkit wasn't really out yet. We do have a 5 day refund policy so if for some reason you're not happy with the performance of the Tier 1 package, you're welcome to take advantage of that.

If you have any further questions let me know!
