Okay, I'm not really sure what your going for here. What kind of theme are you trying to make this? What kind of mood do you want this pack to have? Is it inspired by, or based on, anything in particular? The subtext for your pack says "Fight to gain back the world", was there some kind of war or disaster? Is everything supposed to be in ruins? If you explain more about what you're going for, you'll get better feedback and suggestions.

A basic piece of criticism I can make though is that you need to work on your shading. All your blocks seem to either have no or very little shading at all, and that doesn't look good.

posted a message on MoJang Fail! Minecraft on PS3
While you can run MC on the PS3, it's so much of a hassle I don't know why you would.
    You'd need to:
Run Linux off the PS3, which either requires getting an older version of the PS3 firmware, or finding a modded one online, and then burning ISOs for it and a Linux distribution. Then, you'd have to install the firmware and Linux. Then you'd have to install Minecraft, or I suppose you could try and emulate the XBLA version. Plus if you didn't want to use a mouse and keyboard you'd need a program that converts the Dualshock controller's buttons into mouse and key presses.

If you'd like to know why the game is a Microsoft exclusive, it's because Mojang had/has neither the time nor the money nor the experience to develop the game for consoles. That's where Microsoft stepped in and offered to help with development through 4J Studios. Had Sony given a similar offer then we have seen MC as a PS3 exclusive instead; but, they didn't, so we don't.

posted a message on When does updating break world generation?
This is no longer the case, as after 1.2 biome information is now stored per chunk. You may be able to see a slight change between old and new terrain, but it shouldn't be anything like it once was.

If your world was created before then, you'll still get the abrupt changes in geography/biomes/etc though.

    Quote from Delta_on3

i agree whit it. it its't to hard you need only 20 bookshelfs in the upcoming update. so stop crying.

No one here is complaining about bookshelves needed for enchanting. The issue is that it is now much harder to get bookshelves for purely decorative reasons. Such as xX-Callisto-Xx, who needed something like 20 stacks of bookshelves for a project. That's sixty stacks of leather. If bookshelves were only used for enchanting then there wouldn't be an issue; but, people want them for other things as well.

Right now, the best bet is to find a librarian who's selling them and get as many as you can.

My FPS seems to drop quite a bit whenever I bring up the F3 screen. It will be at about 80 or so and then drop to the 40s until I hit F3 again.

So, it's fast until I try to see how fast it is.

I don't know if this is possible though.

I think I read somewhere that damage values only go up to 16. I could be wrong though.

posted a message on Please do NOT make leather needed for new book recipe!!
Okay, so how about making top level enchantments require 30 bookshelves again (1 bookshelf for 1 level), and keeping the old book recipe; but, for writible books the recipe would be 3 paper 1 inksack 1 feather and 1 leather?

I think the main reason they've done this is to make sure enchanting still has some challenge to it, even with all the ways you get XP now. So, along with my first couple ideas, I suggest decreasing the XP gained from mining and what not by about 1/3.

I see a lot of people talking about 2 different kinds of bookshelves, and I suppose that could work as well. We already have 2 types of Golden apples and all that would be required is a new recipe.

posted a message on Minecraft will now be EVEN SLOWER.
You say optimize like it's a bad thing.

Opimize: [Computers] To write or rewrite (the instructions in a program) so as to maximize efficiency and speed in retrieval, storage, or execution.

Since single-player has been turned into a shell on top of a background server, the game’s resource requirements have increased. When playing single-player, the game needs to be able to both simulate and emulate the world, which take many more CPU cycles. We’re working on optimizing rendering, but those improvements will not be included until Minecraft 1.4.

They are optimizing rendering so that the load on the CPU is not so much. Thus decreasing lag, and allowing lower end computers to run the game better.

If you're getting lag spikes in Optifine, try using a different version of it. I get spikes if I use the standard edition, but the others run much better.

People are saying August 1st, but that could just be a rumor until someone posts a source. But with the snapshot updates getting more bug fixes and less additions and changes, I'm getting the feeling 1.3 is coming in 2-3 weeks!

Jeb said they were shooting for August 1 on twitter

posted a message on Singleplayer becoming a local server?
People can't just randomly join your game. You have to be in the world and then allow access. You'll also need to portforward for people outside your local network to join. So there won't be any random griefing of your SSP worlds unless you invite that person in.

As for the plugins and such, they want to make most mods/plugins compatable in singe and multi-player.

    And now some pitcures

Here are some of the new blocks, and a couple old ones with a slight color tweak.

    Here's the new creative menu.

And here's the GUI for the books.

Sorry for the lack of updates, I've had artist's block for a while now when it comes to this pack and I was originally going to wait for 1.3 before updating; however, since it won't be out for atleat about a month and since it's been so long, I decide to just go ahead and update. I hope to update again soon with more mobs retextured aswell.

Any kind of feedback or suggestions are welcome, especailly anything about the new GUIs.

posted a message on Why make so many snapshots?
There is a snapshot every week, no matter what features are being planned in the next update. If a feature takes several weeks, you will see it in building up in several snapshots. An update could be 3 weeks or 3 months away, we would still get a snapshot every week until it was released. The Update would take just about as long without snapshots, only longer with them because they can use them to catch and then fix bugs before the official release instead of quickly trying to patch the game after it's updated, thereby causing more bugs to patch again.

Remember 1.8? remember all the bugs it had? How much of that could have been fixed if Mojang had done with that what they are doing now?

posted a message on Erm.. can someone tell me what this is?
This happens sometimes when you delete a world, and then start a new one with the same name. It still has the chunks from the last word saved, so it sticks them in the new one. It's quite an old glitch.
