    posted a message on [128x][1.3] Spiral Majik: add a little Majik to your game! (new screenshots and mob skins!)
    Another update to add some 1.3 item - still working on Cocoa pods...

    Most mobs are finished and have both gemstone and 'normal-ish' eye sets.

    I have armor next up on my list, as well as a male avatar.

    More feedback would be greatly appreciated!

    Since there seemed to be a lot of grumbling about Ad-fly, I turned it off. I didn't get any money from the service myself, I just let it revert to help support the Customizer website.

    Yay! More animals with less creepy eyes!!
    Yes, I know that isn't a real Siamese cat pattern, but I like the grey and didn't have an official slot for it. I'll build a Siamese later once I'm happy with how the skin meshes.

    Next on the list:
    • Pig Zombies
    • Dragons (maybe)

    I have skins for the new emerald blocks, but the Customizer doesn't support those yet.
    I'll work on building a stand-alone texture pack that will be more 1.3 compliant to carry us until the Customizer is updated.

    Any feedback is welcome!

    I've been busy with work - but I managed to put together a halfway decent looking Stephanie and zombie.
    Reworked the eyes on the Enderman so he doesn't look so much like the Cookie Monster and spiders should blink normally now.

    I'm still here - just sucked into D3 at the moment (I TOATALLY guessed the twist at the end of Act3!)

    I DID add a few more icons and little things, but nothing to get too excited over.
    Shhh, yes I'm procrastinating about making the wolf and cat skins... (BTW, does anyone know who owns the semi-realistic HD animal textures? I might ask to use them for those who don't want 'creepy gem critters' :Sheep: . The Albion pack has the ones I mean, but it's not the only pack I've seen them in.)

    The piston texture is next up, which shouldn't take too long since most of it is just other textures cobbled together.
    Ender terrain textures are also relatively simple looking.
    The humanoid skins will be a little more challenging. I have a good idea for the skeletons but just need to put them together.
    If someone knows of a good creeper template, I'd like to see it. I have a texture I want to use, but I need to align it right to get the best effect. :SSSS:

    Some answers to questions on the Customizer board:

    Looks 'A little Cartoonish':
    I've been more concerned with getting a consistent look (critters notwithstanding) than being overly worried about doing a purely 'realistic' or 'simple' pack.
    This is not a remake or derivative of an existing pack (though I was inspired by bits of Thistle's Wolfbound set). I simply let the Celtic patterns and body jewelry bits tell me where to go.

    Darker textures?:
    I'm guessing you mean the stone textures (smooth, cobble, etc). I find darker stone is harder to see for longer distances underground - so torches are more effective with lighter stone. This might be cheap reasoning, but it works. I can build darker textures for those who don't mind and want a more immersive look (I'll use the same texture, just retint it so other stone components will still match).

    Other tools/weapons?:
    It might be an option later when I'm done with the normal textures, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. The designs were based on carvings I found that were in the right general shapes and then altered to fit. I tried to be consistent in making the wooden ones more rustic looking, and then getting more complex/advanced to the diamond version. Only a few of the textures had alternate patterns that I could pick from, so unless I find more carvings that fit the criteria - you're stuck with what I've got.

    FUTURE PLANS:
    I've been thinking of making a 32x Watership Down texture pack (I haven't seen any mentioned on any of the boards). That WILL most definitely be sticking to a predefined theme and will probably only appeal to a few LitGeeks and bunny lovers (and me!). Any lessons that I've learned from making Spiral Majik can't help but make the WD texture better.

    posted a message on Help on wheat and doors
    Apologies, I can't see your pack at work and there aren't screenshots of the doors in question on your post.

    One of the things that I ran into with my doors is that handles need to be placed in the lower half and tucked in a quarter inside from the edge (sorry if that sounds confusing).
    If you don't, when you open the door, the handle detail will be wrapped around the door edge and halfway folded in the center (you'll see it if you're using a mostly transparent texture like a door of iron bars).

    Hope this helps a little.

    Actually, just thought of something else about flagpoles...

    Stationary flagpole (for residences):

    3 :Iron: + :log: + :: (flag) = 3x character height

    5 :GoldBar: + :log: + :: (flag) = 5x character height

    5 :GoldBar: + :log: + :Diamond: + 2 :: (flag) = 5x character height, 2 flag support

    Mobile banner (carried):

    2 :Iron: + :|: + :: (flag) = 1x character height

    4 :GoldBar: + :|: + :: (flag) = 3x character height

    Beat me to it, :P

    Second the idea of schools of little fish - the squids can't have all the fun.
    Seagulls / Shore birds near coastlines
    Egrets in swamps

    Mice in wheat fields

    Roaches in the Nether (hey, they could probably survive a nuclear explosion - I'd imagine a Hell realm would be no big deal)

    Rabbits, well...everywhere (yes, there are swamp bunnies) (this could play into the Watership Down texture pack idea I've been kicking around)

    Someone made a mod with bees that you could capture to make honey, wax for candles etc. It was pretty complex from what I saw on the video, but that might give you further ideas.

    posted a message on An idea for all: Customizable Flags
    I like the idea, but I'm wondering how they'd go about implementing it.
    I've been using custom art (KZ) to make banners for my houses, but that is something only I can see.
    A flag would need to be server-recognized so that everyone sees more than just their own flag designs everywhere.
    This could potentially spiral to greater memory usage if you start getting into complexities like multiple colors and emblems.

    Maybe you could use multiple bits of wool to add additional colors - place them on the crafting table in the order you want the flag to be laid out (checkerboard below)

    examples:

    :Logs: :Logs^: :Logs:
    :Logs^: :Logs: :Logs^:
    :Logs: :Logs^: :Logs:

    :Logs: :Logs: :Logs:
    :Logs^: :Logs: :Logs^:
    :Logs^: :Logs^: :Logs^:

    or even three:

    :Logs: :Logs^: :Logs^:
    :Lava: :Logs: :Logs^:
    :Lava: :Lava: :Logs:

    This probably wouldn't take much more than is already in the game now and it would allow for a decent number of possible combinations of pattern/color.

    Later, if they add a 'painting' feature - they could possibly make it combinable as an art object with the existing flag (viewable as an overlay).

    What do you think?

    (Of course you know this means we'll all be doing Eddie Izzard if they implement this suggestion...)

    Sweet, thanks Thistle! :D

    Some update notes:

    I've uploaded a new cloud file that should hopefully fix the tiling issue. (@Lucid - thanks for the shots, they help me a lot to see the problem!)
    Smoke is still clipping oddly - but seems a little better. I'll keep working on it.
    I've revamped the troublesome flowing lava texture and I'm just going to have to call it a draw on that fight.
    Fixed the bow so it doesn't have the black frame around it.
    Added the writable book texture in three colors: brown, grey and purple (I haven't tested it, so let me know if the arrows line up).

    To Do:

    Major - I still need to finish the rest of the mob skins (the ones i have are creepyish - thinking I might just officially make them clockwork gem creatures instead of living ones.)
    Major - 'Still Lava' texture
    Major - Art pack
    Minor - rest of the pack icons and torch revision
    Minor - Clay Soldiers support! I love this mod, even though I can't get it to work on my machine (I blame user error, :unsure: )

    Feedback and error reports are most welcome!!

    I love this pack, it was the inspiration that got me to work seriously on my own!
    I've been continuously frustrated with my torches and thought I might play on your candle idea: putting the big details on the bottom instead of the top.

    I love this mod so much!
    I'd love to suggest something to be part of it, but I think you've covered most all I could think of.

    Maybe...melon siege equipment... multiple soldiers push a melon across the field to squash multiple enemies in a 6 block line (bursts if hits a wall).
    Or pumpkin bunkers - soldiers fire artillery from a jack-o-lantern (stationary), lasts through X damage by the enemy and then breaks open.
    mmm...maybe I'm just hungry...

    Apologies if these were suggested before!

    The coding behind the AI must be frightening to behold...
