Slogan of 2014: Dream lays new railways,
Slogan of 2015: More Comfortable, more convenient
Slogan of 2016: For now, to the Future
Before I share anything I built for over 4 years in Minecraft, I need to
Clarify:
THIS RAILWAY IS BUILT BY A DREAMER, UTILITARIANISM AND PRAGMATISM DO NOT APPLY HERE.
I started playing Minecraft on 16th November, 2011 and established Nazca Railway on the following day. Over 4 years, I built Nazca Railway in different worlds in Minecraft, yet today I am still building it, and this railway is only built by me, 1 person.
I have built Nazca Railway in different Minecraft worlds:
- Nether Division (2011 to 2012) Terminated and this was Nazca Railway originated
- Golden Division (2011 to 2012) Terminated and this was a overworld version of the Nether Division, on my friend's server
- Islands Division (2012) Terminated and was a short-term lab for Nazca Railway to develop advanced technology, especially self-researched Platform Screen Doors
- Terracept Division (2012 to 2015) Terminated and was the greatest division I had built, over 190 stations and 500km of railways before Minecraft 1.7
- Rainbow Division (2014 to 2015) Terminated and was a small network for players to transport, but owned a longest link between 2 stations, 43km
- City Root Division (2015) Terminated and was a testing railway before the release of the world in the server
- Los Sengas Division (2015 ~ ) Currently developing, using the most advanced and traditional standards I have ever used
This division is currently developing by Nazca Railway, so it is worth for me to post this railway here. Although Los Sengas Division is not the largest railway network I have built so far, this record will be held very soon.
Los Sengas Division was known by "Metropolis Division" at the beginning 3 months. It was established due to the event of Minecraft 1.7 update, simultaneously forced Terracept Division to close. Los Sengas NR built for the city and it is TOTALLY NOT related to Los Santos.

First (non-terminal class) station built in Los Sengas, named "Greenrock Hill Station."
Greenrock Hill Station is an elevated station with a floor of platform and concourse. The platform is for West Ring Line (Line 1) and using "Classic" Platform Screen Doors.
Station Information
Overview of Greenrock Hill Station
Platform of Greenrock Hill Station
Nazca Railway provides several station class for Los Sengas Division, to serve different kinds of passengers:
- Sava Light Transit (the light-rail class and Nazca Railway affiliated railway)
- Standard Railway (Middle and Heavy rail class, the main railway network for Nazca Railway)
- the Veloduct (Commuter Railway)
- the Linker (Intercity Railway)
Nazca Railway always plans for the development of the railway network very carefully, Los Sengas is one of the most structured network. Its initial plan, a extremely large terminal for multiple lines and hundreds of railroads, with 2 loop lines, 1 vertical link and 3 horizontal link. Since the matter of the size of the stations and rails, I could not build them at once, so I divided the development to the system of "Season", "Episode" and "Chapter".
Season Development: The mega plan of the railway system, most likely takes one to one and a half year to complete.
Episode Development: Smaller plan of the railway system, takes weeks to complete and usually provides "Introduction" and "Conclusion" reports, there must be 19 episodes to complete a Season.
Chapter Development: Every single element of the development will be classified to this scale, such as a new station.
So far Nazca Railway has 1 completed season and known 106 chapters
and currently we are in Season 2 Episode 2 Chapter 11 when I am writing this thread.
I like typing words so I have totally written over 150k words for this Division reports so you will get bored with this easily if I don't post any images now. However, I took over 1000 images, so I need to choose the suitable for you.
Nazca Railway builds stations both over the ground and underground. Also every station has its unique design of its structure, shape and colors.
This is a classic-design elevated station: (Pisces Pond Station)
This is a station built exactly on the ground (Cyan Loop Station):
This is an underground station (Seat River Station, spectator's view):
I have also built stations in an island, I called it "Island Station", Los Sengas currently has 23 of them (Hatace Island Station, spectator's view), most of them are irregular shape:
There are record-breaking stations I build for, breaking record of course, one of the examples is the "Highest Platform of Nazca Railway", East Margin Station platform at y = 115.
Everyone knows a station consists of several features: Platform for boarding and alighting; Concourse for passengers' service; Passageways to link the different part of a station etc.
Nazca Railway Los Sengas Division has over 290 platforms and its standard length is 204 blocks, although Nazca Railway does not use any mod or plugin to link the minecarts together, I consider this size very much, let me to have more space to design the station. In addition, all platforms MUST feature Platform Screen Doors or Automatic Platform Gates before releasing them (well, there is one exception). All these doors are researched and developed by me. In this Division, various type of PSDs and APGs are developed into different situations:
1. Classic Platform Safety Doors series
One of the most frequently used PSDs in NR, but this is only for the platform with high ceiling. There is no Gate version of Classic.
2. Basic Platform Safety Doors series
Second most frequently used PSD series, the notable difference between Classic and Basic is the position of the Platform lights, Classic has light on the top, while the Basic one on the floor, this is also a reason of its name is known as "Basic". Basic PSD has the most sub-types among other series such as:
a. Basic Platform Screen Doors (Sava Canyon Station)
b. Basic Automatic Platform Gates (Flask West Station)
c. Basic Heightened Platform Screen Doors For higher ceiling design, but not ideal for Classic (White Margin Station)
d. Basic Inverted Platform Screen Doors Designed for "irremovable" obstacles at the ceiling (Inthree Island Station)
3. Liquid Platform Safety Doors series
You can call it a sub-type of Classic because it uses very similar design of Classic PSDs, but there is no redstone circuit under the platforms for me to put water beneath them.
(Congorge Station)
4. Aerial Platform Safety Doors series
In fact, this is the Platform Gate version of Liquid PSDs and double-inverted version of Basic PSDs, that's why I need to make this one individual. Design for overground platform with extremely limited width.
Platform Screen Door version (Deepond Island Station)
Automatic Platform Gate version (Miner North Station, despite this one has no visual difference with Basic APGs)
5. Open Platform Safety Doors series
This one was developed very very recently, for some.... unforeseen situation for using extreme design of Platform Screen Doors, so this one is not for mass construction. (East Margin Station again)
I don't know there will be more type in the future though, I make new design for proper use only.
Nazca Railway Station concourse has different design to other the players or the real-life one, Nazca Railway was originated in some sort of survival mode world for players to transport and to provide survival mode service for them. Since all kinds of service (including railway transport) in Nazca Railway is 100% free of charge, concourse survival mode infrastructures are quite important for players. These infrastructures are known as "Basic Infrastructure".
(Upwell Sand Station)
Moreover, Los Sengas Division is not built in a survival mode world, so Nazca Railway needs to erect some utilities to make the station more modernize. Lavatories, Cafe, Station Control Room and Station Map are new to Los Sengas Division so that Nazca Railway needs to put them into existing station, and this is what I am doing now and require about half year to complete.
Station Control Room example controls the PSDs, exit and inter-station teleportation for staff only (The Three Pass Station)
Cafe, known as "Los Sengas Coffee" for decoration only (Sava Coast Station)
Station Map provides the terrain of the vicinity, if that station has overground structures (Edward Island Station)
One exclusive feature for Nazca Railway is the souvenir challenge. This idea was inspired by a player who wanted to take a photo at every single Nazca Railway station. After that, I decide to design a unique item at every station but the players would not be easy to find it. Before a player receives the station souvenir, he/she needs to complete the challenge I set. Different station has different challenge such as parkour, question&answer, hidden buttons, racing, multiple player coop etc. Some are easy and some are difficult.
The known hardest challenge is the Upwell Sand Station souvenir challenge player voted it for about 16.5 stars out of 5 stars in difficulty
Connecting railways is essential for constructing a railway system, Nazca Railway implemented the standards of railways strictly (I mean, very strictly) to unify the design in different places.
Bridges: 5 meters for single lane, rail at the center between the glass blocks, between the glass pane, if the bridges is near to the surface, glass pane changes to stone wall. 4n + 1 meters wide of multiple rail parallel unless junctions. Minimum height between bridges is 5 meters. (somewhere near Wativer Station)
Ballast: Least frequently used by Nazca Railway because I use bridges and tunnels most of the time, but when encounter some large flatland, using it will be more efficient. (somewhere near Metro Spring Station)
Tunnels: Similar design to bridges, just the block of iron covers the entire part of the railway. Same width and height principle to the bridges so that they can convert to each other without unnecessary modification. (somewhere near Grass Crack Station, spectator's view)
Number Sign: An ordinary Nazca Railway Line is over 10km, some are even longer (West Ring Line, a.k.a. Line 1 has 57 km), for every 100 meters, there is a number sign displaying the number of the position, to indicate the line position when something need to be report somewhere middle of the track. These signs can be negative and 0-centered. (somewhere near South Bay Station)
Track Pattern: Strictly sticking to Nazca Railway's standards in normal tracks. For every 20 meters of rail, 17 of them are normal followed by 1 detector and 2 powered rail, known as "Powered-rail Distance PrD". In special situation like the rail between the junction, these standards are not applied here. (somewhere near Peckern Forest Station)
Not only structures of track has standards, there are rules to follow when I building them, first of all:
Direction: Los Sengas is a left-handed driving city, such that trains in Nazca Railway is riding on the left. The photo below, there are 3 tracks, the leftmost one is heading inside the tunnel, the middle one is coming out from the tunnel while the right one (not the curved) is bi-direction. (somewhere near Internal Sea East Station)
Slope: All tracks in Nazca Railway must follow the slope of 1 to 10, which every 10 meters raise or sink 1 meter, although this may not follow the real-life slope (too steep), suitable enough for Minecraft in my point of view. (also somewhere near Internal Sea East Station)
Soft-turning: Before some railroad connects to a station, especially some island platforms, the horizontal position of the track may need to be adjusted, soft-turning will be used most of these cases. These lines are curve-like. (Greenrock Hill Station)
Hard-turning: Some sharper angles are also used by Nazca Railway, if the direction of the platforms are different that using soft-turning will greatly reduces the speed of the minecarts. These hard-turning is using 45 degrees-turning. (somewhere near Kaling Channel Station)
There are 3 station classes in Los Sengas Division, like a title of a player:
Station: Obvious class name for a station, and is mostly seen. Los Sengas Division has 94 of them.
Checkpoint: Larger scale of a station, mainly for researching new technologies and features, it is also an important place for public transport interchange. Los Sengas Division has 1 checkpoint.
Terminal: Rarely seen in Nazca Railway since it must be well planned for different types of railway and multiple Standard Railway lines, otherwise it will be useless easily. Metropolis Terminal is the Terminal in Los Sengas Division.
Rover Down Checkpoint, the only Checkpoint-class station in Los Sengas Division (for now):
The first station built in Los Sengas, the first Terminal in Los Sengas and the only Terminal in Los Sengas, not to mention its size. This is the center of Nazca Railway in this city and influenced the development of the city greatly. It is divided into several parts:
Terminal Front Yard Approach: the southern entrance of the greater Terminal area, with server and Nazca Railway flag.
Terminal Front Yard Pavilion: also known as the spawn of that world, the center of the front yard.
Terminal Front Yard Pool: A giant spire with falling water, flowing into the 3 pools to the south. Each pool has over 150 meters long.
Terminal Approach: Before the passengers enter the ground entrance of the Terminal, there is a bus terminal and a multistory parking lot, built by other administrators, so they literally are not owned by Nazca Railway.
Terminal Front Yard QR Code:
Terminal Calendar: the archive of the development of Nazca Railway.
Terminal Main Building Ground Concourse: the Terminal Control Tower, controls Phase I and Phase II Platforms.
There are 12 platforms and 13 sidings below the Ground Concourse, then there are a total of 25 tracks in parallel in north-south direction.
Platform 1 to 4: Line 1, West Ring Line
Platform 5, 8: Line 3, Urban Line
Platform 6, 7: Line 3X, Urban Express
Platform 9 to 12: Line 2, East Ring Line
Metropolis Terminal Phase II is the expended part of the Phase I main building, which all new structures were built underground. Including a new Interchange concourse, 12 new platforms, 13 new sidings for east-west direction and a large scale underground walkway connects 67 exits.
3 new lines were established when expanding the Terminal:
Platform 13 to 16: Line 4, New Edward Line
Platform 17 to 20: Line 5, Stadium Line
Platform 21 to 24: Line 6, Arcgo Line
Interchange Concourse: The interchange concourse has all the staircases and elevators connected to the existing 12 platforms and newly-built 12 platforms. It also contains 4 large exits for the underground walkway Red, Yellow, Green and Blue Zone. The Terminal infrastructure and service are located here as well.
Underground Walkway: The largest underground walkway network Nazca Railway had ever built. It consists of 4 walkway zones, Red, Yellow, Green and Blue Zones connecting to different location of the downtown within one station length. The walkway has 67 exits, some are staircases and some are elevators.
This is the expansion of the Metropolis Terminal after Season 1. All expansion content are located underground and currently only connecting to Phase II's interchange concourse. The main purpose of Phase III is to prepare for multi-class railway service in the future and planning the development of the Veloduct.
Grand NR System Map: The Map of Nazca Railway can be accessed here, if you don't have a internet version. This map shows all the existing Standard Railway stations of Nazca Railway Los Sengas Division, and its distance from the Terminal.
Veloduct Concourse and Platform: Veloduct uses the same system of Nazca Railway, but I need to separate them in order to group them, especially in a Terminal that contains a lot of platforms. 4 new Veloduct lines are planned initially:
Platform 25, 26: Alpha Line,
Platform 27, 28: Bravo Line,
Platform 29, 30: Charlie Line,
Platform 31, 32: Delta Line
The Concourse are located above the platforms and introducing the Nazca Railway first Food Court.
Sava Light Transit Platform: Since the size of Metropolis Terminal is getting larger, we need some mover within the Terminal. Sava Light Transit can take this job, and it can extend to downtown vicinity at the same time, so that passengers can travel the downtown and the Terminal more easily.
Nazca Railway is built in traditional way, yet sometimes I need to add some "depot"s as a decoration to make the railway "looks" more "realistic". There are 2 depots I have built in Los Sengas.
This is the first depot I built in Los Sengas, it is located in Katadelphia (obviously). Before the second depot was built, this was the main depot among all lines of Nazca Railway. The area of this depot is 11.6 Hectares, with 29 tracks. It can store 504 real-life train compartments at once.
The Track Diagram of Katadelphia Depot:
The second depot built in Los Sengas, but it is not located in the mainland. However, this is the largest depot I have ever built, 17 Hectares. It has 42 tracks and can store 630 real-life size train compartments.
The Track Diagram is as follows:
From Stations to Depots, from bridges to tunnels, I built railways for Minecraft for over 1500 days. These are still a lot, a lot, yes, a lot of content I would like to share with you but I don't have the time for now, since the next project of the railway is coming. I dare say this railway project, when it is started, there seems to have no end point. I hope you all like my work, thanks for reading!

SO, let's get on with today's build log. The reason it's so late, is because I've been busy coming up with ideas instead of actually working on my to-do list. Today, we'll be beefing up the courtyard and ... a new building?
Well, let us not linger and start. First up is the courtyard, which is mainly the piece of land between the fort and the company warehouse. Just some bushes and plants.
We add a path around the bushes and take care of the lights.
To finish off some plants, kindly supplied by my neighbors.
Okay, now the actual building itself. Today we'll be making a tavern, what's a medieval settlement without one? I mean, with the brewery so close. I left this off the to-do list, because I wanted a little surprise as it turns out nicely.
After finishing the front, we start on the back and start working on the sides. First some pillars to expand on.
Now we work on small details on the bottom of the pillars.
We put up a basic wall and turn to the inside of the building.
Now we work on the pillars on the inside, just to add feel and detail to the build.
More pillars and detailwork.
We add in the inside of the roof, so basically the bearing structure.
We start on the decoration with a fire pit in the middle, why? I wanted a fire pit.
And then we finish off the inside with a nice decorated floor.
The finished product? Well here it is in all its glory.
And of course the courtyard too.

Concerning your first bit: we are always willing to make adjustment. And yes, the server is very much trial and error, and we're happy to go through this process to give people the best experience we have to offer.
1. How long are you keeping this map active? Is this a season or are you planning a certain period of time to keep it active before resetting it?
We currently do not have any plans for map resets, thus cannot give a certain period of time in which we'd like one to happen. But as with anything on the server, everything is open for debate. All major decisions will pass by the community in some sort of way.
2. You mentioned about the community town build at spawn and requiring people to get involved with that. In almost every case in every server I've been on, this kind of 'rule' has varying results where everyone will work on the town for a few days and then one or two decide to leave for their base, trying to get 'the best' area, leaving a partially constructed area for the rest to build.
Building at the spawn town is not a requirement (spawn town is also not in the spawn chunks, for they are reserved for mob farms) we expect people to help out as it's part of the community we'd like to build. The spawn 'town' will mostly function as a shopping district.
How are you planning to call the project started and more importantly finished and thus freeing up people to go exploring and work on the things they want to do?
We have a discord with an event message board, all contests, events, projects etc. will go in there. We'll also be making progress posts on this forum, to show our community and possible applicants what has been done, what's being done and what's been finished. In the case of the spawn town, it'll be a project that will likely never be finished until a possible future map reset, because as players join, they add on to it. And as people progress, they might add onto it as well.
We do not have rules or guidelines requiring people to HAVE to build somewhere, to HAVE to help with projects etc. but, we are looking for people who are willing to go the extra mile and invest their time and resources into what our server might offer others.
I hope I've answered your questions satisfactory.
All the best,
Ranger

1. What are the goals of your community? Is your goal to grow into a large community or to stay a smaller (but active) community?
Currently we only have a few but active players, we are aiming for an active community of asrounf 20 players.
2. Do you run Spigot on your server? What kind of anti-grief measures do you have in place?
Due to a few plugins we use spigot, we use coreprotect to roll back briefs, but we do not and will never use a plugin to block people from building in places.
3. Do you have a world border or do you let the players go where they would like?
Players may go anywhere, but we will be starting a community spawn town soon, and are expecting players to partake in the construction.
4. Are dungeons turned up to max or kept as default?
They're currently kept as default, we might change that in the future, it's up for debate.
5. Do you have a max mob count?
Max mob count is vanilla default.
6. Is your target to stay a minecraft only community or to also bring in other games for the community to play together?
We currently only have a Minecraft community but the discord server has been expanded on for further games. Thus, anyone is free to partake in casual gaming with us in the games we have in common.
I hope I've answered your questions to your satisfaction. I hope to read your application soon.
All the best,

I'd recommend this as well. Learn the basics first, practice different architectural styles, watch some Youtube tutorials and build what they build, then look at the patterns and learn from those. Then try out your own builds while still trying to repeat the patterns you've learned from tutorials.
If you have that all done, load up a generated terrain world instead of a superflat, learn to use either VoxelSniper or Worldedit, or better, use both.

It's looking grand! Keep up the good work

I was wondering where you wandered off to, that's just bad luck ... I hope you'll do an even better job this time around and stun me.

I'm in love with this server, a huge shoutout to Random, Echo and Super for making my expierence truly enjoyable. In a few short days I've come to like the server more and more, especially as my new (huge) project is coming to life and shape. I'm baffled about how the community comes to accept the new players, and honestly I can't wait for what the future on this server has to offer.

What is your name (or nickname)? My name is Patrick.
What is your IGN? My username is ... Lord_Benevolence ... Coincidence I guess. My previous username was just like my forum name: Rangerblood.
How old are you? I'm 18 years old and am soon to become 19
Have you read the rules, and will you be able to follow them? I have read the rules and think they're not only fair but mostly common sense.
How often should we expect to see you online? Not too often, but most certainly 2 to 3 times a week. I have a busy schedule due to my hospital education and will often choose to study rather than play a game and when I have time to play a game I might not play Minecraft. But I'm looking for a steady place to play in and enjoy my free time.
Will you be able to join our forums? I suppose that I can, there's no harm in being well informed about the community.
What are you looking for in a server, what is it that keeps you around? Mostly good contact with players keeps me around, but also my own urge to build something great as most of my time on servers is spent building.
Do you have any questions or concerns about the server? I do not have any questions.
Do you understand that the IP will be messaged to you after your application is accepted? I understand.
(optional) Tell us a little about yourself? (required if under 16 and requesting an exception) Well, my name is Patrick, I'm an 18-year old med student that lives in the Netherlands. In my free time I like cycling and gaming. I'm just a regular Minecraft player with a little bit of server background, mostly faction servers but the past two years I've been playing Vanilla a lot, adding up to around 6 years of playtime. I'm a very tech-savy person, and spend quite some time on the computer as well due to this. But I also like, exploring the landscape and architecture my country provides, which I try to integrate into the Minecraftian world. I'd be happy to join a healthy community, and once I get my bearings I would love to work on community projects.
I hope you consider my application.

Hello! Time for another build update! Well, today we're just going to finish the great hall exterior, of which you have seen a glimpse of in the previous update. Let's start!
Like the previous time, I don't really feel like explaining what I'm doing anymore, it should be obvious
And well, there we are then, the finished product. (exterior, I bloody hate interiors)
Peace!

Haha, anyone can apply really. Plus he's the owner of the server. Thanks for the compliment too, it's nice to hear someone out there really likes it.
