    i dont know about vanilla, but there are plenty of plugins which decrease lag for bukkit, but im not sure it will decrease client lag, i think it will just make your server faster, same for the increased lag. Its more the clients who shld be working on decreasing their lag. I suggest they get the optifine mod: http://optifine.net/downloads.php

    it could be in the chunks at spawn, because those chunks never unloadthats why mapmakers make their redstone clocks in the spawn chunks

    the server staff are probably right. It is not necessarily just one clock, it could be multiple ones, and it's not necessarily a clock, could be any other redstone contraption that causes a lot of lag.and when u say that time keeps going back, do u mean that the sun just rewinds, or everything that the players did, everything that just happened, gets rewinded back a minute in ingame time?
