I got this after I updated millenaire with the installer.
But look at the Java version. It says version 1.7. -.- I thought version 1.7 was beta and was incompatible with Minecraft. How do I downgrade Java?

Personally I'm using OpenJDK7... works extremely well. Better than Sun's Java 1.6.

Did you kill them yourself or like with water or something? Pretty sure that if YOU kill them they are dead unless that feature was recently removed...

If I kill them with a sword, they just come back a while later. The town sign says "temporarily dead" too.

    Well sure there is, murder.

Tried that too. They were brought back from the dead!

    Apparently ctrl+p now does that

I tried that... didn't fix anything. No idea what caused it either.

So there's no way I can manually vacate a house ( or erase it completely ) ?

I once had this bug where Norman markets would turn into holouses, or merchants would be reported as MISSING! Kinniken hasn't dealt with this bug yet, apparently.

Hmm is there a way I can manually remove those npcs and building to get them to 'reset' or something?

    Scroll up to

    here.

Also go off to the outskirts of the town, dig down three blocks, place a block above your head, leave it running, and check back in thirty minutes.

Sorry I missed the earlier reply. I believe I've spotted the issue however. The signs are saying different things than when clicking on them. The carpenter is two timing a couple of villagers! A picture says a thousand words...

The forge & sign ( note the difference in info, and the occupation of the man ):

    Carpenters house:

And the village map & signs:

I have a Norman town which is fairly mature. It currently has 19 adults, 1 teen, and 7 children. So far this town has not had any young lad grow up and move into the forge. It's been empty for a good month of minecraft time. I seem to have too many women in the town... 5 children are girls, and the youth is also a woman.

I was worried that I hadn't given it enough time, so I left minecraft running overnight while I was wrapped up safe and warm. When I got back to the town this morning, it's still the same. I'd prefer not to abandon this town for one with a working forge. Any tips?

It can happen that NPCs sometimes disappear. With a NPC like the alchemist, it generally helps to save & quit and load the world again. At least, this has fixed it every time for me.

I can confirm this worked! After restarting minecraft, the Alchemist is back in the library.

After upgrading to 2.7, the alchemist's building now spawned and I was able to complete the first two steps in the quest. I've set myself up in the house outside the library, but the Alchemist has disappeared. I've checked my home village as well, cannot find him after several minecraft days. His assistant is still in the library though.

    Is this normal?

I wonder if update 1.8 is going to use this for the npc villages it mentioned.

I'm really quite anxious to find out from Notch what this will all be about.

I love Millenaire to bits, awesome awesome mod. But at the end of the day, 1.8 comes along and is a replacement for Millenaire, all my hard work and effort on current Millenaire maps will be for naught. I'd find that... minorly frustrating. Actually, about as frustrating when I have to raze my village(s) because an update breaks them. :S

Actually, since 1.8 will introduce some much cooler terrain generation features, I might have to abandon all of my current maps :'(.

    Crap.

More bugs... Since there was no response to my prior response, I razed the village and planted a new one.

It's a Gros Bourg with all the Hamlets.

    1) The Industrious Hamlet has a couple of quarries. One on update 3, one on update 2. Both have furnaces, but neither have the 'infinite' planks to power them. Also, the Merchants don't seem to 'randomly' visit the Industrious Hamlet. I'm not sure if it's distance or what. The Industrious Hamlet is about 200m away from the Gros Bourg and a Ecclesiastic Hamlet.

    2) The miners and their wives occasionally enter/exit through the roof of their home after some jumping inside or outside like they cannot find the way in/out.

EDIT: A merchant finally showed up after a good couple of weeks.

EDIT2: After about 5 minecraft days of the furnaces being empty, the wives started putting planks into the furnaces.

    Yay, forums are back!

Got a request, and I've found a couple of issues with my village.

I'd like to request the inn visitor log to be reversed ( newest at the front ). It's a pain to scroll through.

    As for the bugs:

    1) The industrious inn doesn't import wool ( needed for beds ).
    2) The merchant at the industrious inn won't fetch glass for export. There's plenty available.

Found a few bugs on 0.7.8. Some are new, some aren't.

    1) Sometimes teenagers are trying to move into existing houses that already have people. Their status text above their head constantly flickers between "moving in" and nothing. This increases CPU usage somewhat, and with a few teenagers doing this, it's very noticeable. I can kill them to reset them back to 'resting'.

    2) Lumber men aren't cutting down 'whole' trees if the rest of the tree is hanging over ice/water/cliff/hole etc. It's annoying to clean up after them.

    3) I've also seen what looks like a race condition in lumber men if they all try cutting down the same tree. Once the tree is gone, they all just start spinning as if expecting to cut down more of that particular tree. And when night falls, they go home but maintain the status "chopping wood"

    4) The village maps show people 'offset' from where they really are. Refer to screenshot, they're shown up & right from where they really are.

After I run this. Linux stops detecting the location of my cursor properly forcing me to switch to tty1 and reboot from the command line. I'm running the stable version on Kubuntu 11.04 64bit.

Yup, been doing the same for me for a while. A single 'right-click' anywhere after exiting will fix it.
