Hey all, I'm looking to recruit some people to help me start a Communism server with me. I have a rather unique idea in mind as the nation of Uganda undergoes an alternate history in which communism as an ideology has a foothold. I have attempted this communism-server-idea before and came to the realization that I need a team of associate members to make this idea a reality. More details can be seen on the Discord Server as to what I envision the server.
Server Idea So Far...
Communist Uganda, or the official title; "The People's Uganda", is going to be a communist survival server where the player must struggle against the corrupt police state of Uganda; suffer through disease, famine, violence, and brutality. All players will be assigned state-chosen-jobs, state-chosen-towns, state-chosen-housing, etc. This is a unique idea for a server that I think will be great once implemented.
The player will likely start with a state-chosen-job of slave-labor likely involving mining. The resources collected from mining can be sold to the state for pennies/piece. Similar to a prison-server, once a player has accrued enough money, they will be able to rank up to a higher-class dwelling. Once a player has reached a sufficient class-dwelling, they will be given the opportunity to join a state-approved town. These towns are going to be run by players like you under the supervision of the state. All towns are still subject to state law, though town mayors may still enact their own local laws and use their citizens to their expense to serve their own personal needs, etc.
If possible, I will need the following positions filled to make the server production process faster:
Behold, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea; a multiplayer Minecraft dystopian society server with a tyrannical government, an authoritarian ruler, and a heavily guarded police-state. We are a server that provides a unique gameplay in Minecraft by tossing new players into a tyrannical regime while undergoing extreme poverty, hunger, sleep-deprivation, a host of different diseases, and much, much more. Struggle to survive, and maybe, you'll escape alive...
Welcome to FreyjaMC, a server to satisfy your survival-multiplayer needs. With a unique, customized gameplay, there is always something for everyone. Create your own towns and nations to rule to world. Declare war against other towns and nations. Establish trade routes between towns to compete in this new balanced economy. Kill custom-mobs for custom loot. Invest in public stock-markets started by different towns. There is something here for everyone, and we assure you that nothing you find here is "pay-to-win", so-to-speak.
Hi everyone, me and few folks are starting a new towny server. Currently, we are in need of a few builders to help construct a server spawn. If you are interested in helping build this spawn, add me on Discord at ProPixel#2065. If you are interested in beta-testing or simply staying up-to-date with new server-news, join the discord server-link below...
I am currently in the process of developing a new Minecraft server. As you may have already seen from the title of this post before clicking on it, the server will be centered around a player-run government along with player-written rules. Nearly every server I have seen in the past has established the commonly stated "staff member" users as the head of the server, usually with unfettered authority that users either love or hate. As I am trying to keep this post simple and not super academic for all you anti-intellectuals out there, these servers you see commonly use what is commonly referred to in real life as an autocratic rule; "absolute rule by one individual or a tightly netted group of individuals". As some servers have succeeded with this system, and many have failed; I personally see the need to change this system of server administration by incorporating the users into deciding the way the server operates and the rules by which the users of the server shall follow.
If you are interested in participating in any way; feel free to leave a post of your ideas, opinions, or critiques below, or...
In terms of government structure, the plan is to set up a functional government in-game, seated with user-selected congress-members that shall periodically vote to approve bills. Bills are proposals that alter the means of game-play by adding a new rule (aka, law), redacting a rule, removing a rule, adding or removing a plugin, making a plugin adjustment, making an adjustment to the economy, the way the government works, etc. These bill proposals shall make up the ground-works in which the server operates and conducts itself, and shall always keep the users' interests in mind.
The government will most certainly include a group of user-elected congress-members but might possibly also include an executive and judicial branch of government as well, like seen in many western countries in real-life. The executive branch could have a user-elected President that may sign congressionally approved bills into law. The judicial branch of government could have a panel of experienced users that have a clear understanding of the baseline rules (constitution), that may rule if congressionally approved bills are "constitutional" or not.
In terms of how these rules are enforced; I was thinking about including a small group of "limited" staff members that serve for the sole purpose of enforcing the rules and not making or twisting them. We could almost see staff members as police-officers/judges in which users will be given the opportunity to appeal their case (like in real life) and have the judicial branch of the government rule on these appeals.
As the way the economy works; it is most certainly going to be a player-run economy with no real admin/server shops in mind. In terms of the servers I've seen, autocracy is still a thing, though the economy is differing from server to server. Many servers use player-run economies (in which some succeed and some don't), while many servers also use server-shop economies (in which some also succeed and some also don't). As the way the economy operates is to be decided, I am leaning towards incorporating a player-run economy to keep the spirit of a "player-run server" alive as much as I possibly can.
As this post is rather long and still in the works, a lot of what you see is subject to change, in which "you", "the user" get to help me decide some of these things that are not 100% yet. Feel free to leave a reply that demonstrates your opinions, constructive critiques (critique, not criticism), or thoughts, and feel free to DM on Discord @ ProPixel#2065 or join the Discord server link that I listed above.
In addition to the item as a currency thing. Another currency idea I noticed for those who want to stay vanilla is by creating signed books with a single author so they cannot be replicated.
Example Currency:
/give @p minecraft:written_book{display:{Name:"{\"text\":\"$$$ Money $$$\",\"color\":\"dark_green\",\"bold\":\"true\"}"},title:"",author:"Government",pages:["{\"text\":\"This is an official minecraft currency that acts as legal tender for all debts public and private.\",\"color\":\"dark_green\"}"]} 1
Thanks for the response anyway. Interesting you find clay a good currency item. I primarily removed this as clay is somewhat common in the bottom of oceans and can be found pretty easily. As it is far from the common origins of dirt or stone, clay-looking over your argument could be a useful currency now that I think about it with its limited intrinsic use.
I am on a quest to find a single-best item in the game that can used as a functional currency in its raw form. A functional currency should follow the following criterion below. As these four criterion form an ideal currency, not many items in the game fit all four categories to their fullest but we can get pretty close though.
Ideal Currency
- Uncraftable
- Accessible in survival mode
- Divisible
- Non-renewable
1) Any item that is derived from another item from crafting, repairing, enchanting, brewing, etc. should not be a currency. Example; a potion of leaping or a ladder should not serve as stable currencies as you can derive these items from rabbits feet and logs. After counting this, we can narrow down our list to the following items;
2) The item must be able to be obtained in survival mode. Any item created in creative mode cannot be used to reproduce the currency if there is ever a shortage, this would mean that someone with OP would need to be involved which is not our aim for a player-driven economy.
All the items above except; Bedrock, Dragon Heads, Player Heads, Mob Eggs, Command Block, Silverfish blocks, End Portals
3) Divisible; this one gets tricky. The item that serves as a currency should preferably be divisible just like you can trade a $5 bill for 5, $1 bills or 9 gold nuggets into 1 gold ingot, and should not be too rare that it is too valuable to be used as currency. I have removed any item I deemed too rare to be used as a currency such as nether stars, or dragon eggs. This is necessary as a transaction involving say 5 bread, shouldn't be sold for a nether star as a nether star should say be able to buy 10 stacks of bread instead and defeats the purpose of a currency as it would be worth too much to trade.
4) Finally, the currency should be somewhat non-renewable; the effort required to obtain these resources should be substantial, not too difficult but not too easy either. #3, already eliminated some of the things that'd be seen as too difficult to obtain. Things that are too easy to obtain can be dirt or cobblestone as there is virtually an infinite supply of it with minimal effort. Any plant that is able to be farmed is able to mass produced which would inflate a currency. Certain mobs are able to be mass-produced as well and can be removed from this as well, these mobs are usually mass produced from mob spawners or other methods (rotten flesh, bones, spider eyes, the common stuff, you know xD). Breeding of cattle also produces an unlimited amount of food which would also fail as a currency.
Now, as witches are also able to be mass produced with massive witch farms, redstone, gunpowder, and glowstone can be removed also considering that redstone is fairly common in ore form, gunpowder can be received from creepers and ghasts, and glowstone can be found frequently in the nether. Gunpowder is also not a good currency as it is a recipe for disaster (literally, tnt goes boom).
Villagers, that can trade many things into emerald can also turn emeralds into many different items as well. As a common measure, if emeralds are able to be converted into a specified item, that specified item should not be currency.
Coal, Diamond, Gold, Iron, Slimeball, Ink Sac, Quartz, Nautilus Shell, Any Fish, Ghast Tear, Magma Cream, Rabbit Foot
Finally, as fishing has been known to be abused using hacked client, anything that comes from fishing should also be removed;
Now as some of these materials are obtained via. mob drop still, they can still be used as currency but should be taken into caution as if there is a large enough player base, the sophistication of the players will be great enough to build giant wither skeleton farms or pigmen farm to mass produce these items. For the most solid currency, all we would have left is diamond and quartz as there is no other way to obtain them other than through mining.
Diamond, Quartz
As Diamonds are relatively expensive and there is no such thing as diamond nuggets, I will have to say that nether quartz is the best currency in the game as it is relatively common but not too common and it can not be mass produced like mob drops or crops can.
If you skipped here to the bottom, Quartz through my research is the best currency-item in the game.
