posted a message on More then 16 Blockstates

I think its fine at the moment and this case is very unlikely to occur in general. I just wanted to look into the possibility of adding more states to the current block. I think i have my answer and will probably review that example code offered up by coolAlias. I'm more interested in adding trophies and what not to the mod. :D

it's 3d so yes i'm looking above and below. At the moment I lowered the density to the point where it's highly unlikely for a block to max the 16 possible states.

    Description:

This mod generates small minefield into your existing world. Minefields generated underground, loaded with loot and goodies. Minefield are well... explosive. one miss swing of your pick or even a stray creeper can set off the whole darn thing destroying all the loot and blowing you and anything your carrying to smithereens. This is a revisit of the initial mod that i build for version 1.4.5.

    Built for Minecraft version 1.8
    Download

    Things To Note:

Right-clicking on a block with a stick will allow you to mark the block. This should prevent accidental deaths from mining a mine.

I'll look into IExtendedBlockState, but this does seem kind of hacky. I guess it will work better then the TileEntity stuff i was attempting to implement. I think TileEntity is loaded after the get meta call in Block.

Here is what i'm working on if your curious. I need 26 states for the number of blocks in the vicinity and an additional state for marking the block.: https://github.com/pollend/mine-sweeper/tree/master

Is it possible to to have more then 16 different block states. I was thinking about using tileEntities but i'm not sure how i can accomplish the cross over from tileEntity to the blockstate .json. do I have to use a special renderer to accomplish this?

I'm presuming that you have little to no background in programming. Just looking and copying some one else's code will not get you any where. Your going to end up with a ugly mess if you just copy the code of others because i did exactly that when i was just learning XNA. trying to create a mod in minecraft is going to actually be quite hard. for the most part you are on your on. Their is little to no documentation on minecraft with a really small selection of tutorials that you can go to. I've already had a lot of trouble trying to program my own forge mod. by all means you can go ahead and try but your not really going to get anywhere past implementing, possibly a single block with your own texture. I would rather you try getting a simple AWT paint application working.

posted a message on Anvil Modification Mod
I can build up my pick over time with really weak enchantments. Weak enchantments are a lot easier to receive then some of the high level ones. by removing anvil cost you essentially give me a no cost solution to stacking enchantment which pretty much a game breaker. I can essentially create a really powerful pick just through stacking over time. When my pick is at low hp i can then stack on some more stats at only the cost of enchanting the item and creating it. I think the current system is fine as it is. Higher level items are signification more expensive then trying to combine lower level enchantments. removing something this essential pretty much destroys the point of really having an XP system in minecraft in the first place. I personally think that minecraft should actually degrade the max durability of an item when used on a anvil. It should be like a 10% durability reduction for every use. Who needs an enchantment table when you can just fix your really op pick axe. at the moment the anvil is already pretty powerful. you can practically fix you diamond chest plate at a lower cost then when you made it. I think in the next patch, Mojang may actually near anvils.

you can go your own route and mod minecraft directly but this will prevent other people from using multiple mods. what you can do is use something like http://www.minecraftforge.net/forum/ which has its own hooks that prevent you from modifying the base code.

This isn't that great of a mod, its just a rundown version of industrial craft. just reading your post makes me cringe. You seem to really love commas. not that its bad but your post makes little to no sense. have you heard of first impressions because you have lost my vote on this mod. I'm just curious, why did you choose the element zirconium??

posted a message on [V1.8.1]Flickery Torches
    Quote from Welka1982

The title needs to be changed with the version number it is made for if you don't went the topic deleted.

Apart from that, I think this is a really good idea and I will try this out ! :Diamond:

EDIT: I tried and this is rather cool. I have to agree with Maraki, the flickering must be tweaked to look more real. It needs to flicker more rapidly (like a candle) and not change promptly light level but in a smoother way.
Also, I've noticed that the flickering effect on affects torches in a certain range, which is imo a bit too short.

    Well done

EDIT 2: It works perfectly on SMP as well :smile.gif:

The flickering only occurs when you are within a torches particle range. I may change this to a clock but it may make a lot of lag. I think notch changes the brightness of the screen slightly to
get torches to appear to flicker. this may not be the case and if so can some one can correct me.

p.s. I cant change the name of the post without making a new thread.
