posted a message on Anyone else fed up with the "move camera" keys in pre5?
They are so annoying! The ones that actually pan the camera, are way too slow to be of any practical use and their speed can't be changed. The change FOV keys... meh, okay, I'm fine with them. As for rotating the screen sideways at mach 3, it's really a pain to try to correct if you accidentally hit M or N.

I think the worst part though, is that it is impossible to map them to any other key. So those of us who have been playing since Alpha, and who have kept their inventory key as 'I' the entire time, now have to deal with the screen twitching upward when they open their inventory. And you can't set them to a key that you never use during play in order to effectively get rid of the annoying "functionality."

Too bad you can't simulate stealth somehow...

Yes, you can, though not all that realistically. Put a bunch of tilled dirt blocks (with water so they don't dry out, but keep it hidden) then use MCEdit or Zombe's Modpack to place a layer of floating sand, a layer of air, and then a layer of pressure plates below it. If the player walks on it without sneaking, the farmland is destroyed and the blocks update, making the sand fall and activate the pressure plates. Then I guess you could hook it up to some arrow dispensers or a door with spawners behind it.

I just thought of one thing that could be improved.
You never specified that the default or any other texture pack should be used, so when I played it (this was the day of the initial release, mind you, but I have a good memory) I was using the painterly pack. And then when the person referred to the netherrack as "red stuff" at the end, it was in actuality blue.

I just updated Eldmorang Alpha, there is a version with all 1.9 content removed included in the download. There's no escaping an impatient newbie mapmaker. :smile.gif:

Was going to start this, but according to the readme file, I need to have 1.9+ ?

In that case I'll have to wait until the full game is released as I'm not planning to upgrade past 1.8 until it's stable.

    That's OK.

I feel like any more than 4 spawners spread out in the same room is overkill.

You have a point, I think I might get rid of the upper row because it's fairly pointless, but I still want it to be hard (so that the player can't just walk in without decent armor, and even then it's still a challenge) and replace the enderman spawners with something else.

I tend to put too much junk in chests because I want the chest to look like art.

Yep I do the same thing, it's less of a problem in Eldmorang Alpha because there is only one set of collectibles, it's relatively simple, and it's a play-on-peaceful map, but in the next one you have score, money, computer disks, and essentially everything you end up accumulating in Eronev Mansion Adventure but somewhat worse of a problem since you can remove a wider variety of blocks.

Do a quick run thru on peaceful and look at the "progression" of gear that you give your player. Is it too much? Too little? Is it realistic to the theme/story?

I'd like to add, it can in some cases be hard to determine loot progression on peaceful, since most people use peaceful to build the map, and not having experienced the exact mix of mob spawners they are using would have no idea whether this:

    is thoroughly balanced with this:

This... is my favorite map of all time. You've probably had zillions of people tell you the same thing before, but I felt a need to say so anyway.

    The Story
    :bookshelf: :bookshelf: :bookshelf: :bookshelf:
You are the new commander of a redstone mining outpost on the planet Eldmorang Alpha, in an alternate universe in which creepers didn't settle on Earth. You are replacing the last commander who accidentally killed himself. The instant you start your new job the drill fails, the seal to the control room explodes, all life signs except yourself vanish, and the world will be forever changed.

    Map Rules
    :DORE: :DORE: :DORE: :DORE:
    1. Play on easy.
    2. Don't place and remove blocks. Exceptions are detailed in the readme.
    3. You can craft stuff, just not redstone torches or TNT.
    4. No flymods or inventory editors.
    5. Have fun.
    6. Glowstone dust is your score.
    7. This map is not compatible with SMP, but since it's fairly short it wouldn't really be worth setting up a server anyway.

:mossystone:Make sure you use the included texture pack, or stuff will look real weird. :mossystone:

Thanks and :Diamond: to rsmalec for this review! Keep in mind, the "too easy" rating in difficulty was before I added combat to the map, so actual difficulty may be higher than you expect.

A good map with a scifi theme. Fairly straight-forward series of puzzles that were implemented nicely into the story. I enjoyed the use of specific blocks as ifferent 'triggers'
