posted a message on Relatively easy implementation of a dungeons plus style mod.
Here's the Idea. You would have players in the community make challenges in a 103 room. Then you would have the game draw from a database of these rooms, and tile them together with a shell around it for aesthetic purposes. Then the player would g through this dungeon, each challenge being unique and designed by a player.

I can elaborate if anything is confusing. I'm not sure how complicated the code would be, but it seems a lot easier than coding a random terrain generator, and would yield more interesting results.

I need a 2 person bukkit server with voxelsniper, that's it.

On it I'd build a custom map for the first person shooter Ace of spades. I'd build it in minecraft then convert it into a map for ace of spades.

All I'd need is to be op and sniper. The time it'd be most useful is 3 - 5 PM Pacific Standard time.

If you can do this please reply.

Fixed the weapons, more monsters added soon, redstone will be removed once I find it... grr.

Both ideas sound great. An iron sword is a bit too powerful though... I'd say two or three stone swords.

Also, the redstone is in the right path, near the waterfall area. A pressure plate doesnt activate a trap correctly.

EDIT: Is this your first map? If so, I'm a little impressed.

Not sure about the redstone torch, I'll check. The pressure plate doesn't trigger a trap, it reveals a small secret. should I remove it? I'll go with the couple of swords.

This is my first map, not much, but eh, everyone's got to start somewhere. This is why I'm asking people to do this, I'm trying to get it as polished as possible before I release a final version.

Edit: I can't find that torch for the life of me. -.-

Tryng it, looks great from the pics!

I tried it, and I noticed a few mistakes on your part early on.

1: Some of your redstone work is accessible from the interior of the map.

2: There is not enough torches in the start of the map.

3: The beginning weapon is far too weak for the map, and breaks very easily.

Did you complete it: No, it was too hard early on.
If yes, how long did it take:
How fun was it? (1-10): I didnt get far enough to rate it.
How challenging was the fighting: My weapon broke too soon, maybe a 4 for now
How challenging was the maze: Maybe you should specify which area is the maze, as I have no idea.
    How challenging over all: 7
    Was there enough food: Yes
Were there enough items?(Potions, swords, armor): Not enough weapons and torches.
What could I improve: Provide more materials, and put in more monsters. Also, make sure your redstone is inaccessible, and works.

Thank you, that was helpful, I should specify that the entire thing's the maze. I'm not sure what redstone, but I'll check around for it. I'll upgrade the weapon, do you think an iron sword would work? I'll also add more spawners.

So I'm making an adventure map, if you haven't guessed by now, and yep, I need alpha testers. It's a work in progress, and needs a lot more development, but I need people to test some things for me, so here I am.

It's supposed to be like a dungeon crawler, but in minecraft. For the time being it's very plain, just some tunnels, and such, but aesthetics will be added later. For now I'm just trying to improve the Difficulty, and related things.

    Images:

    Rules:

    No breaking or placing blocks.
No breaking levers, buttons, or anything redstone related after you've placed it. (torches okay)
You win once you get through the glow-stone ring.
Anything in chests is fair game, and you can use anything you see.

So please play it and then fill out this form:

    Did you complete it:
If yes, how long did it take:
    How fun was it? (1-10):
    How challenging was the fighting:
How challenging was finding your way through to the end:
    How challenging over all:
    Was there enough food:
Were there enough items?(Potions, swords, armor):
    What could I improve:

posted a message on How do you build your maps?
A mix, Voxelsniper and world edit for the terrain, world edit and hand for the buildings. But don't take it from me, I'm working on my first map.

... A build too great for words.

Obviously drew from a collection of sources, some cliche in minecraft builds, others more creative, nothing new here, but impressive nonetheless. I'm amazed at that build, but more so impressed at how you got all those people to work together so well, and have such a good outcome with that many people. Skill.

The aspect of multiple styles of city were nice, ranging from the seaside village to the citadel to the underground city quite reminiscent of the city of ember with the hole at the top and the lanterns hanging everywhere.

Then there's the scale. It's always impressive to see something so big.
