Giving players the ability to climb under places where we can't already makes map making that much harder. There's no way for us to change how redstone wiring works to accommodate these changes.
How does making players more nimble, allowing for more complicated parkour maps and any other maps that incorporate agile movement, interfere with mapmaking in any way?
Back in 1.3 I made an adventure map for the smartmoving mod that involved use of the enhanced mobility at the players disposal to make complicated puzzles in which the player would have to rapidly move around dodging through obstacles. I'm not exactly sure what ever happened to it, though. (I might re-upload it if I can find it somewhere on my computer)
Let's not take minecraft into the Mirrors Edge territory when it comes to mobility...
First of all, Mirror's Edge didn't invent the ability to crouch and/or crawl. Second, what exactly is wrong with allowing players to move smoothly and acrobatically?
This actually seems like an okay idea, but I think it would be best if salt could be broken without an iron or higher pick, otherwise it could be seriously abused.
I might be able to support this if you could explain how Steve could jump from chemical reaction (aka gunpowder) to nuclear fission. It makes absolutely no sense.
While this is a fairly original, and rather interesting idea, I see this as unlikely to be added, seeing as how Minecraft lacks bodily functions for the most part.
Sorry, but I cannot stand the idea of a direct upgrade. I must have gone over this a million times, but I think any new ranged weapons should be sidegrades, similar to unlockable weapons on TF2, for example. I'd prefer stuff along the lines of spears, with a short range but high damage and the ability to use it as a melee weapon, a slow-blunderbuss that fires a cluster of low damage shot pellets for crowd-control, and so on.
We want new weapons. Not guns! Mods are used for guns!
I fail to understand how more ways to kill mobs makes mobs harder. Also, why not guns? I have frequently pointed out that balanced crude firearms could add more strategy to pvp. Note that saying something along the lines of "NO JUST USE MODS" is against the rules.
it bears mentioning that someone could make a mod that automatically swaps unloaded guns in their hotbar for a loaded gun from their inventory...I'm not up on my modding, but it seems it would even be possible to make a mod that automatically crafts loaded guns if you have ammo on hand.
Considering the amount of mods that automatically organize your inventory, I'm guessing such a thing would be trivial.
Also, as I have mentioned before, I feel that crafting to reload would feel clunky and unpolished.
Oops, sorry for double posting instead of adding it the the previous post.
Guns as a generic weapon would not work. They would overshadow the bow and be a bit overpowered. If we have to have a gun based weapon why not portable dispensers?
Huh, this thread has taught me that a good deal of people on the internet have precognitive capabilities and know that any new addition to Minecraft will be OP. Who woulda thought?
Just watch it sooner or later become an Ace of Spades kinda game.
So it would lose all mobs, fantasy themes, crafting, hunger, and most gameplay elements? You seem to be suggesting that Ace of Spades is an unpleasant version of Minecraft. Ace of Spades has retraux graphics and building. Beyond that, the two have literally nothing in common.
tl;dr: Minecraft is an RPG/survival game. Ace of Spades is a tactical shooter, similar to Counter-Strike. Don't try to compare the two.

Wow...I've never seen you get like that. I always thought of you as being really calm...I'm going to be careful to avoid making you angry.

I'm just assuming they're planned because virtually every youtube video related to the 1.7 update features sharks in their thumbnails and titles.

Sharks are planned to be in 1.7 already. Sharks are normally docile until threatened, meaning they'll likely be neutral mobs.

I've heard seen no evidence that one can use herbs to make medicines, though with proper balancing I would enjoy such a feature.
I don't understand how horses make it worse, considering that you can already outrun mobs easily.
The reason you died more was because you weren't as experienced at the time, not because the game was harder.

AAAAAAGH! Sponges are animals, not plants!
Also, I'm pretty neutral on this suggestion, but it seems okay.

Heck, just provide a link to this page if you want fantasy with firearms.

You mean you're idea of how Minecraft should be? Minecraft contains modern machinery, so how is an ancient firearm going to ruin the feel?

Engines have existed since before the middle ages.
