Hey I'd like to use Biomes O Plenty for 1.9 but I can't figure out how to get rid of caves/ravines, just not a fan of them so I usually turn them off or make them infrequent in Customized world. How can I do that in BOP? I've gone through the configs and there's no incidence of the word cave in any of the files. I found Ravine twice, for the canyon ravine biome, which I'm going to keep since it's open to the air.
Please and thank you into any insight that helps achieve this goal!
Answers that involve adding another mod, or are technically advanced, are also welcome.

Hello, my roommates and I want to get into Minecraft modding and we have an idea for a mod we'd like to build. We're having some trouble researching a metric that will be pretty useful in telling us what we've written is doing. (all we've found in our research is a book whose amazon reviews discredit its usefulness)
Is there any way of logging, reporting, or otherwise getting the census of mobs per chunk? We're going to be changing how the spawn rules work, and before we get into that, we are going to want to know how many of each type of mob are in a chunk. That means more than just a general entity count, we want to know exactly how many zombies, sheep, etc are being rendered by the game at any time.
We would like to mod for 1.7.10, and any pointers towards relevant resources would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance!
