    My first house was also in the side of a mountain, small area with basic supplies, a wheat farm, then a pit that lead to my mine.
    However that world i didnt play on much. My REAL first house was in the side of a hill, the walls and everything was dirt and the sruface was 1 block above me. inside i had a lot of chest, a bed area and a little item toilet. colored the place with some wool (its a very small space) and my mine was also right there. outside of it there were cacti to prevent mobs.

    About:
    Have you been feeling nostalgic? Have you ever wanted to take you and your buddies and play on an old beta server once more? Well here is your chance! This is a genuine Beta 1.4_01 Minecraft vanilla server witch means all you have to do is survive, play the game as it was back then! Got a slow computer? Running Beta 1.4_01 will improve your FPS up to 5x! So come on, grab a friend and whitelist yourself then play on the server!

    How to Join:
    First of, you will be needing to downgrade your Minecraft. I prefer using MVC or MCnostalgia. Both work well and get the job done. Once you have downgraded to beta 1.4_01 you will be able to play on the server.
    Also, there is a whitelist. I will be posting a small application at the bottom of the thread. Follow that format and we will deem you worthy to play on the server!

    Rules:
    1. No griefing
    2. No stealing
    3. Respect other peoples buildings and property
    4. No rude language (Cursing, racism etc.)
    5.No hacking or Xraying in ANY way
    6. No spawn killing
    7. Have fun

    Whitelist Application
    1. How long have you been playing minecraft?

    2. How good are you at survival?

    3. Do you get along with others well?

    4.Have you ever played beta 1.4_01 or any other beta versions?

    5. Whats your IGN?

    6. Age?

    7. What will you be planning on building on the server?

    8. Would you be willing to donate?


    IMPORTANT NOTE:
    THIS IS A TEST SERVER! Currently we will be running this server for a while, we will keep it running depending on player traffic, and donations.
    Everybody who was accepted into the server must wait a little before joining, we will be whitelisting the bulk of the names later today.

    Remember:
    This is a vanilla server, which means no mods or plugins. Also, it is beta 1.4_01.

    I might, if someone wants to play Beta 1.4 or pretty much any previous version of MC, I can recommend the DigiEX launcher. It lets you download previous jars "legally" and you can also make a modded and non-modded jar for your version if you want to...

    I used MVC, allows me to downgrade the version and a possible server jar

    Hey guys, i know a lot of you are just starting to play minecraft but this goes to the veterans. If you had the chance, would you go and play on a vanilla beta 1.4 server with others?
    This maybe a reality in the near future. Just getting some input first.

    I have seen how nostalgic people get on the Minecraft forums. How they want the old beta Minecraft days back. So i came up with this idea. I want to set up a test server for a month or 2. I have an old beta 1.4 working server jar that the host can use. This server will be public (with a white-list) and the test is to see how successful the server is. So i am looking for a host who is willing to give up a little bit of time and test the server. We will be testing A: Player happiness B: The amount of players on and C: Total donations received. I think this server would be very successful considering how many people want to play beta again.
    Is any host willing to do something like that?

    Planning on starting with 8 slots.
