This map took me around 2 hours to complete. However, I spent alot of time looking for those elusive gold bars, and if I had just breezed through, it likely would have taken less. This map managed to hold my attention quite nicely, with clever signs and wonderful archetecture.
The difficulty was flawless. Nothing was too terribly hard, but the map had some fantastically complex puzzles that really made you think before you attempted them. I was very impressed with the flow as well, and several of the puzzles had mutliple stories, in which you completed some well done minipuzzles to move on.
Unfortunately, the story is really the typical facility story, and wasn't really anything special. You wake up, trapped by the "Puzzlemaster", and have to complete tasks to move on. Nothing really all that amazing. The signs were clever though, and well done.
Puzzles, as this is what this map is made of, were quite excellent. I only had to 'cheat' a few times, and even then it was because I screwed something up (I think). The puzzles were usually unique and varied, and even when they were old-school, they were still fun. I especially loved the "Wool/iron door" maze, in which you progressed through a small maze, by opening and closing the proper doors via levers on colored wool. Brilliantly pulled off.
While the map itself didn't feature the "Giant Facilityscapes' many of the other facility maps have, this map managed to really keep me into the game and the story, and did exactly what it set out to do. Well designed, well made, and well pulled off.
This map has alot going for it, especially with the wonderfully unique and fun puzzles along the way. Fantastic work, I really did enjoy it. I would most definently recommend this map, and even though it didn't get a Diamond Axe, it was certainly reaching for it. - Fangride

PUZZ Escape the Puzzlemaster by Ditto64
This map has some nice unique puzzles but unfortunetly the others are all easy and cliche. The map is quite short and progresses well. However like many Facility Type maps it falls prey to the simple plots of "forced to do tests". Worth a look though.
Ok starting the map off was fairly simple, there was a Parkour Zone, Crafting Puzzles, Chest Looting, Huge Maze, Lava Parkour, A Bow and Paintings... This is an example of what I feel is old school puzzles, and unfortunetly this is what I feel like the map is based around. However, for some reason it works well for the map is some way - the variety of them was nice and there was always something a little unique in each one, including some totally new challenges (my favourite was the colourcoded doors), however there were quite a couple whiich were very common and old.
Despite this the difficulty in this map is alright, you do have to think slightly before each challenge but often it's not incredibly hard. There are many opportunities in this map where the creator could have bumped the challenge up, for example when supplying materials for a crafting puzzle, don't have them already arranged to form the item. The flow in difficulty was done quite well though, and seemed very progressive so this balances out previous negative statements. I also must say this map too was too quick to complete.
This map is a classic Facility Escape map and unfortunetly it fell prey to the classic bad plots of this genre of map. Wake up in a facility, forced to do puzzles yet you escape, yada yada yada. I would like to see a more original plot. Despite this the map is quite different in the way it presents it self. It seems more simple and isn't one of those massive iron facilities which have become way too common. This map seems more...humble I guess. I felt like it suited the map and it did keep me engaged.
for Plot: No Details, stereotypicial faciltiy plot - I would like to see a bigger focus on the Puzzle master and his evil plot which you mentioned but never touched on again.
for The Puzzles: There were some really nice puzzles which progressed quite well, however it was slightly outweighed by the simplicity of the majourity of them and the cliche puzzles.
for Aesthetics: Although this map isn't anything great it suits the feel very well, isn't an eyesore but isn't overwhelming. However there are parts of it which fall flat.
for Bugs: Nothing
for Grammar: It's all gooood!
for Extra: I'm sorry but I didn't really experiance anything out of the ordinary and extra.
2.25/5: Although this didn't geta high rating I did enjoy it and its a nice quick time waster which doesn't take too long. It's still worth giving a go.

Very well made puzzle map! The challenges were very original, and originality is something that I really enjoy in maps. This defiantly stood out.
The puzzles weren't hard. But not too easy either, I had a lot of fun working them out. Very witty puzzles I must say.
The way you progressed in the map was good, impossible to get lost. That is always nice. - Drek

Amazing! My score was 88 Golds, and the story reminds me of Portal 2. I didn't get bored the time I played and I even laughed at some parts. Congratulations, my first 10.

Absolutely brilliant map, Did not find any bugs, everything is fun, challenging and you just dont want the map to end. I really loved the part with the 2 minigames for the ladders. - The_Reviewer2

8/10 Story
The main story was really good!I really like how in the end the puzzlemaster traps you. But you should make the story longer. You could tell how you got captured by the puzzlemaster and some other secondary things.OR don't make any changes . The story is great
7/10 Map Design
The map design was good but I think you should do more decorating. It's kinna odd the rooms to be made only from 1 kind of block.More colors = better look. But it was awesome!I really liked the trees made of wool in the end They were really cool. (Tip: Next time don't use flat maps to build maps, because the name in game is different and someone could get it wrong. Also it's ugly when it's flat! )
10/10 Redstone
Loved the way you use redstone!Words can't tell how good are you Just see the mark !
10/10 Level design
The levels were perfect for puzzles!I really like the ideas you have.Used a lot of redstone schemes I was a lot of fun!I just had a little problems with the maze and the numbers in the end
Combined score 8.75/10
I really liked the map!It was fun! - SheMeT
------------------------------------------------------------ Opening thoughts:
I have an admission to make, Escape the Puzzlemaster 1.2 was the first puzzle map I played. The first map the introduced me to the evils of the creator, the notion of jumping and the possiblities of puzzles, and also how effective lava could be. But was it through this map that I learnt to cherish the challenge of a puzzle, or was it the map that first drove me to cheating?
Visuals:
The visuals in this map make a good use of blending colour and style to make each room look unique. The map also goes some way to moving past the usual rigmaroll of having you go through rooms that are all some variation of a square with its section set within a climbing hexagonal tower. That said it does lack a real effective wow moment of something creatve, and yes you can argue that that is unecessary, but it stil works to make your map unique and interesting.
[8.5/10]
Challenge:
For me this map was surprisingly ... middlish? Basically I could not call this hard, I may have fallen off blocks or gotten lost in the maze once... maybe twice. So it could have probably benifitted from a few harder puzzles.
[3.5/5]
Length:
Nothing about this map feels so tight that you could bounce a penny off its pecks. I fact the only time the flow feels seriously broken is when you re forced to stop and fish.
[4/5]
Puzzle Variety:
This map is one of those maps where the creators seem to have sat down and brainstormed as many puzzles as humanly possible, and they all work really well, providing enough fun and challenge to keep you moving through them... although I would say that it does repeat on occassion, such as the neumerous jumping puzzles that seem all very similar. However they all remain fun, so The game doesn't lose to many points for it.
[8.5/10]
Things That Need Improvement:
- More challenging Puzzles
Things That Neeed No-Improvement:
- Visual Asthetic
- Types of Puzzles
Final Thoughts:
As I said this game was the first Puzzle map I ever played.. and you can see why I still enjoy running though them today. I really do recommend this map as a great way to get your friends into Puzzle maps because, despite its few flaws, it is still a ton of fun.
Percentage Score:
83% ------------------------------------------------------------
So the story is that you have been kidnapped by the Puzzlemaster and he is putting you through a series of tests. A very original storyline, a but bored of seeing these now but oh well. What I liked about the map is some of the challenges are very different from most other challenges, such as a challenge where certain coloured levers open certain doors and you have to navigate your way round, that was fun. Also the challenge right at the end where you get asked for the Puzzlemasters favourite number, it randomly tells you in a couple of challenges before this what his/her favourite number is but I didn't think anything of it so I ignored it and randomly guessed when it came to the challenge. I also rather liked the way you have to escape at the end, having to climb the tower by repairing the broken ladders. Oh and I also got 88 gold ingots, these are hidden around and used as the overall score. - TheKnot
