    I am a lover of steampunk.

    'cars' do not *really* fit within the genre. Transportation is Airships, Trains and boats.
    my stance on cars is no. further screaming of "give me teh cars" will be ignored. :Notch:
    Cars would be difficult to do anyway and its not like minecraft generates a lot of *perfectly* flat terrain.

    things i want to do first(if MaudDib doesn't come back) and after my Airship is fully finished.:

    -'trains'
    -Digger (mole machine).
    -submersible.

    1. Try Starting with a Fresh Minecraft JAR and then install the mods.
    2. MetaINF as part of the Modloader installation, must be deleted (if you are getting a black screen, double check to make sure its gone)
    Windows:
    1) Open up %appdata%, if you don't know how to do this, start>run, then type in %appdata%
    2) Browse to .minecraft/bin
    3) Open up minecraft.jar with WinRAR or 7zip.
    4) Drag and drop the necessary files into the jar.
    5) Delete the META-INF folder in the jar.
    6) Run Minecraft, enjoy!



    3. I can't help you, if all you say is "its not working" give me a crash report or explain what happens.
    EG: "Minecraft starts but black screens, I am running mods X,Y and Z (in addition to steamboat) using windows 7 64bit. I have installed per instructions."



    @Zedas, i have looked at your file, thanks a lot for packaging.

    Consider Zedas' better than mine in terms of ease of use. :smile.gif:
    all you would need is ModLoader revision 4 and his file.


    I must admit that it was approximate 4 or 5 am my time when i re-uploaded the fix for the 3rd time. (the proper fixes). was a bit disorientated. btw, Im human. and i am prone to many mistakes :tongue.gif:, so forgive me

    Yes it does work. You're either doing something wrong or using a Mac or somesuch.


    all i need from him is:
    OS(win/mac/nix+distrobution) & Version (32/64, leopard etc)
    What mods he has in addition to ModLoader/Steamboat.


    the error report Minecraft generated. or what happens when it 'doesn't work'

    Usage:

    Arrows to Steer
    Left Shift to Descend
    Space to Ascend
    CTRL to Fire Arrows.

    Uses Fuel to move around, you will need to put coal, wood, sticks, lava buckets and gunpowder in it to work.

    fisher, do you have an error log?


    Reaver, try starting from a clean Jar, & install Latest ModLoader, then MaudDib's pack. then my fix.
    (without any other mods) and tell me if that works. i will investigate the compatibility with xtreme pictures and punch a picture.
    EDIT could you link where you got both mods from please?

    Punch a picture has not been updated to latest MC/Modloader. it could be borking it.

    i have glimmars installed. and it works for me.

    My zipper dun goofed up. (or it was cause i was super tired) but use the files in the sub folder. :Notch:

    it sounds like you have forgotten to replace the mod_steamboat.class file.

    what if any other mods are you running?

    NOTICE: I provide this file purely for those who can't code and update it themselves. since the owner (MaudDib) hasn't been on in a month, this is needed desperately. This is not the Entire mod. I am not going to provide the Entire mod, Unless MaudDib tells me I can. I don't think he would or is going to mind that people can now once again enjoy his mod. Thanks MaudDib!

    The Steamboat mod is Entirely MaudDib's except where credit is given(in his original post).

    Instructions:
    Install ModLoader Beta 1.2_02v4
    viewtopic.php?f=25&t=80246

    Install MaudDib's Original Steamboat mod.(link is to the front page of this thread)
    viewtopic.php?f=25&t=130198

    Extract the files in my Zip file and replace the original files with them.
    (if you can install modloader and steamboat, its exactly the same process).


    let me know if I have made any mistakes in the fix and whether or not it works for you.
    different systems means possibilities of failing. I run Win7 64 Ultimate.
    I Don't have a Mac & my Linux HDD is dead :sad.gif:

    so for those who have either please let me know if this works for you.

    Hey again, quick update! so i can show you the Airship in its current form.

    @UltraJake, when i manage to release the Airship, i will look into other vehicles. modifying the code to make a 'train' would be awesome and it will be the first thing i look at after this.

    with the train, the 'engine' and the place you control the train, will have to be two separate entities occupying 1 space area. due to the way the game is coded, it would look a fair bit dodgy (thats my thoughts anyway, someone prove me wrong :tongue.gif:).

    @Triskelli, I will make a solid colour mappings using what i think are the proper coords of each face. its going to be a lot of trial and error.

    The main reason, which prevents me from releasing MaudDib's code/fix etc, is i have a lot of experience in a variety of modding communities.

    mainly for Morrowind/Oblivion.

    people don't take too kindly to their stuff being re-released without their express permission.

    and i would hate to get into a war with permissions and rights and what not.

    EDIT: I went over all of MaudDib's documentation and his posts(not actually that much in this thread),

    instructions are in Readme.txt, please follow them carefully. source included for modders.

    from this we can gather that he allows the modding of his steamboat. which would mean releasable mods. although its not *do whatever you want with it* so i can release my airship mod(he will get lots of credit :tongue.gif:) and create a small fix for his mod.
    I'm pretty sure I can't release the WHOLE Steamboat mod, without asking him first.

    I will release a fix for his steamer shortly(and maintain it until MaudDib gets back from wherever he is)

    each will have its own corresponding time frame whilst the machine is in operation. so if you have a lava bucket
    you might get 30 minutes of flight. this is a timer and the timer only counts down whilst you are on board.
    i will probably copypasta notch's fuel efficiency scale. 1 coal = 8 smelts or w/e. LB = 100 smelts.

    the specific problem with the compatibility with the latest is actually to do with ModLoader and the mod_steamboat file. would everyone/most be in agreement in that creating a fix (just posting the mod_steamboat.class & src) would be a suitable compromise? Maud's IP isn't *really* being affected, since I'm not releasing the whole thing and/or sayings its mine.

    I can definitely agree that Maud is pretty cool for showing what MC is capable of & relzing source code :biggrin.gif:

    I will have a look at his readme's and previous post to see what he has to say about the src.

    but I need MaudDib's Permission first. if you read this MaudDib, Can I have your permission to release my Airship Mod when its ready. (it reuses a *lot* of your code).
