Abundant? That's the word... Right?
Probably it's because my world was generated during the PR2 of 1.8, but after exploring new chunks, I found that they're still as abundant as before, after digging (or attempting to at least) strip mine at level 12, after running into these mineshafts way before I even get to y: 12.
Though I have a penchant for switching to peaceful (say whatever you want. it's a bloody sandbox) and cleaning out everything inside, I had to subsequently try to find my way out of 3 labyrinths, and in the end dig my way out of the said labyrinth - the abandoned mineshaft.
Other than the above question of them being too abundant, does anyone have any tips for exploring these things? I don't think the tips for exploring cave system works in this case though, since there are already torches all over the place.
Plus one of them I found was way bigger than the largest cave I found in my 1.4 world (deleted :3).

the server i was playing on had it on normal.
endermen chasing me, hunger bar disappeared, health dropped to half and stopped there.
at least until that negro (no offence) teleported and hit me >_<

i don't make mob traps, i don't understand how OP feels, but, here are a few points to note before you even judge what i say:
1) i hunt for my own items
2) i am on vacation now
3) i have tons of time on my hands until next month
in this month, i can either:
1) spend this month building a mob grinder.
2) play it the way i want to - not building a grinder.
imo, if endermen are destroying player creations, it's going too far.
this isn't like creepers. creepers aren't detonating without your permission since you didn't give it any hugs.
endermen just move stuff around. far more destructive than creepers.
sure, you may say, i don't understand how the OP feels, so why would i know the pain of having to rebuild everything one by one?
remember when fire was still uncontrollable?

i set my entire tree house on fire, 2 months of work gone in a single afternoon.
i accidentally set down a tnt and blew half my house up.
remember when spawn points weren't determined by beds and there were no maps?
i died. i couldn't find my way back no matter how hard i tried.
there we all go. we all have experienced this before in some way or another.
it's the same concept, really.
rebuilding a mob grinder destroyed by an enderman is no different than losing your entire house.
think about it, those who are asking the OP to simply "deal with it".
