This is awesome mate !!!!! Very nice :biggrin.gif: So there is a point where a regular map is being generated ?
You remember how far you had to go xD ?
I believe it was about 8 stacks(x64) of cobble. That's about half a kilometer in game distance I think. I've seen postings from others who have "escaped". Not sure how far they had to go.
Here are some pics of my completed skyblock challenge. (thank you MineStorm175 for your help!)
I don't know why I'm so excited about finishing this! The Jack-o-lanterns were not only a nice seasonal decoration; they worked out well for lighting since snow extinguished regular torches.
I block off adits that have no other entrance/exit after I'm done exploring and clearing them. (I don't think ores regenerate). I also post signs periodically telling me which way to go.
@Blockbreaker170 redstone right returning. A bit of nautical advice? LOL
How do you make animals spawn ? Do they only spawn on grass or also on wooden planks ?
I made a well lighted platform more than 24 blocks from start. made a "grass trail" out to it, then built a 7x7 grass area. They just started spawning. I then used wheat to lead them to pens I had built. Same thing with squid. Your pond/lake has to be on a platform at least 24 blocks away from your start point. If you are playing 1.9 make sure you build a roof over your water to keep it from freezing. I grew a large brown mushroom over mine then cut the stem off!
I just finished the challenge. No cheats or mods. No flying (a lot of falling though!!). I did use a texture pack (Misa's) but I don't think this would be considered a cheat since it didn't alter gameplay. I completed all of the tasks including the bonus ones. I even made 10 orange blocks as well as collect ten of each animal, plus 10 each of what they drop/produce (except milk: 1 bucket!) I found myself spending too much time on here so I ended the challenge by escaping! I would post pictures, but I'm not quite sure how.
To Noobcrew: Thank you. It was a fun challenge and I actually learned some good stuff that I will bring back with me to the "real MC world"! Can't wait for your next challenge.
It would be nice if we could craft steps from dirt the same as stone and wood. It would allow us to create a more "realistic" landscape (for those of us who care about such things!). It would also be nice if grass could grow on these as well. Just my thoughts; thanks for reading.

I didn't think of half blocks. That's a really good idea. I hope someone on the programming side thinks so.
