the reasons the PC community is freaking out is because its very common for PC games to be ruined when they go from being just PC games to mulitplayform. and even though "we" know there is a separate team working on it and it's very paranoid, look all the games that where PC games then went to consoles and pretty much became just consoles games and PC ports. fear1, crysis, battlefield 2, cod, Rainbow Six, Need for Speed, Dragon age 2, Fallout 3.
there are many examples about PC games being ruined when they expand to consoles, that is what everyone doesn't like about this.
flame suit on
So give us some examples....everyone keeps talking about 'em, but nobody seems to ever name them.
The last example of a PC game being ported to XBLA that I can think of is Torchlight, and it works just fine on the 360 (I know, I have both versions). -

I couldnt agree more, my problem is because its for kinect, the worst add on to a console ever...
I also see a lot of ignorance about what Kinect is.
It's not just about gesturing. It's also a 3D camera. This means it could allow you to scan in 3D objects to include into your world. We saw a demo at the key note speech of scanning in 3D items (they used a teddy bear).
I think this is what they mean by Kinect enabled. -

Now, we're going to have a billion Xbox fanboys flood the ****ing forum, butchering the English language, degrading everyone's IQ, and telling us that the PC sucks.
I did not want any of this **** to happen, and NEITHER DID ANY OF THE ****ING PEOPLE WHO PAYEDYOU SO MUCH MONEY AND GAVE YOU SO MUCH FAME IN THE FIRST PLACE. You've really done it this time, you ****ing asshole! You've betrayed all of us! Go **** yourself.
Now there's hypocrisy.
(It's P-A-I-D by the way)
Also, I own all three of the current major consoles, and I also build my own gaming rigs..so there goes your stereotype. -

That's true they only care about flashy lights and space gremlinsAlso I am a "Console f**k" too, and to be honest I'll probably just stick to my mac anyway.
Actually, games like Monster Rancher, Viva Pinata and Animal Crossing all existed on consoles way before Minecraft was ever a thought in Notch's head. All those games are resource gathering, building games. So thats not only what console gamers care about.
Independently developed games like Limbo and Braid sold millions on the 360 as well. -
Jun 8, 2011oxHanoverxo posted a message on Minecraft Coming To Xbox Kinect This WinterPosted in: NewsQuote from StickbabigaOverall, my point is Mojang should not waste its funding on projects for a game that isn't even complete. After Minecraft is done, they can do whatever the **** they want, the forums will be pointless by that time anyway. I'll only be here for mods.
...and how do you know this other team hasnt already been working on the XBOX version? You know what a non-disclosure agreement is? Do you realize this deal was probably put together months ago, but Notch was contractually not allowed to say anything until E3? It's called an Embargo...anyone in the gaming industry can tell you what that is all about. -
Jun 8, 2011oxHanoverxo posted a message on Minecraft Coming To Xbox Kinect This WinterPosted in: NewsIt's Kinect-enabled for a reason. Even that said, navigating a menu with a control stick isn't terribly hard or time consuming. Frankly I fail to see why console gamers shouldn't have access to a Minecraft game solely on the basis of minor inconvenience, as if the entire FPS genre hasn't already worked well enough to still be playable on it.
I agree...The Kinect is a 3D camera. At the keynote they were demonstrating how you will be able to scan in 3D objects and textures. Maybe thats what they mean by KINECT ENABLED.
People are so stuck on gesturing...do some research...think outside the box...stop being so reactionary...
If there is gesturing, Im sure it will be simple pointing at the screen to select stuff in your inventory, but since not everyone has a Kinect, Im sure it going to have to be optional.

Jun 7, 2011oxHanoverxo posted a message on Minecraft Coming To Xbox Kinect This WinterPosted in: NewsQuote from ReinveilI'd be all "pfffft, money is for SELLOUTS and I'm keeping this baby pure and on PC, like the nerd gods intended" and slap the stacks of cash right out of their hands.
And I'm sure every other person here, especially the ones crying the loudest, would do the same.
Translated: Notch, how dare you become successful. You are not to please anyone else but us. Now get back into your dungeon cell and keep making updates just for us and nobody else.
You realize Ken Levine, the guy who created the game Bioshock is rich, right? One of the most original IPs in decades made that guy a lot of money and he's about to do it again with Bioshock Infinite.
You also realize that Sid Meier is also pretty rich, and yet he still churns out Civ games for multiple platforms...and success has not gotten to his head.
We could also talk about Alexey Pajitnov....the creator of Tetris that has the record for being on the most platforms more than any other game. That guy is still pretty humble.
What if Minecraft is the new Tetris? Would you really deny anyone that kind of success simply because you don't think anyone else should play Minecraft except you?
Wait until you experience a little of the real world, kid. -

OMG! Such a show stopping bug! It totally breaks the game.

FAIL. :smile.gif:

If I'm not mistaken, you could already make food from ingredients that would also help your character...
So yes, they belong because we've already had them.

You look at them, they stare back and emit a very angry "WTF DID YOU JUST DO!?!?!?!" breathing sound complete with a sped up heartbeat. Then when you look away, they should then emit a banshee like scream as they come after you.
I kinda wish they'd point at you as they freeze and look back at you.

Some indie developers have taken YEARS to develop their first game. Spy Party, which was demoed at Pax isn't due until 2014!
Lets talk about the idiots who think they are suddenly experts and project managers? If you dont like the work they are doing, stop supporting it and go away...seriously. Thats what "Most Customers" would do, right? :smile.gif:

I think they probably have someone read the message board every day to separate the legitimate complaints to someone whining about how they don't like the hunger bar. Sure, if its really breaking the game, that's one thing. If it's just about someones taste or preference, then that's another.
The only people they probably listen to in regards to game play are their hired beta-testers.
I'd guess that the list-o-bugs thread are the ones they concentrate upon as that would be the most useful.
As for game philosophy...well, in order to innovate, you have to innovate and not go by the cookie cutter norm. This means NOT listening to a few people who disagree with what you've done. Whole genres were born from not doing what everyone else is doing...and I think this is one of them.

"Yeah Mojang! Finish the game first and THEN add features! Jeeze!"
I certainly would never buy anything the OP made, that's for sure.
"Why is that block shooting at me?" "Well, that block will turn into Master Chief after I release the game...we jut felt we shouldnt add any details until after the game was finished."

That's the problem. They couldn't give a crap about your high bar or your expectations. Who died and made you the queen of England?

The point is, its not just about hunger being toggle-able...its about all the other stuff they would have to do to support that. Since the world does not revolve around you, it's nothing they have to worry about. :smile.gif:

Its already childlike with its 8-bit graphics.

Does anyone have a URL where Notch/Jeb specifically say that Endermen aren't supposed to touch blocks placed by players?

Version of Minecraft: 1.8.1
SSP or SMP: Both
Can you repeat this bug: Yes
What issues does the bug Cause: Weird mineshafts with tons of what look like narrow supports, but have the boundary of the full-sized Abandoned mine support. Too many abandoned mine shafts are spawning in new chunks.
Specific conditions it occurs in if applicable: Go off the edge of the map you spawn in and let it create a chunk. Look at the caves underneath the new chunk.
