Very nice Ri. Can't wait to see it in-game.

I couldn't really tell from the vid, do the bolts still cause collateral damage to the surrounding area?

You could always download a mod that allows you to make your own recipes. I did that for the medbay in the interim until RI5ux adds an actual recipe to the assembler, and also did different combinations of things with royal jelly in order to get spawnable versions of the aliens (for cryostasis and the like) in survival. Takes a bit of setting up, but it's well worth it.

Hey I don't know if you already have an idea for allowing chestbursters and facehuggers to be put in those little tube things. But I just wanted to run an idea I had. Since as far as I know there is no cannon way to remove one without killing the host.

I remember one time I saw a picture of someones idea on how and thats what I am going with, so what they did was they used something like a defibrillator to stun it while it was on a host, and then they used this claw thing to safely remove it.

Another idea I had was maybe if you used the medpod and when it removed the chestburster or facehugger it put it in a chest or something in its spawn form.... Idk, I'm no programmer, just an idealist.

Well so far the only canon removal of a chestburster (as far as the movies go, I'm not into the comics or most of the books) is in Alien: Resurrection, where the Queenburster is surgically removed from Ripley's chest while she is under anesthesia. Using the medpod in that way would be nifty though, maybe connecting it to a cryo-stasis tube? It would require some sort of GUI for the medpod itself to disable automatically killing the implanted burster, but maybe it can just be a situational thing: If no cryo-stasis is connected, the burster/hugger is killed. If a stasis chamber is connected, the resultant hugger/burster are instead ported over?

Doesn't really solve the issue of how we'd get Drones and others in tubes, but frankly I think that's a little silly to do anyway and in its current iteration doesn't look that good.

It's no problem. I'm far and away from being able to create one just yet regardless lol.

I do have a quick question on how the hive system works nowadays. I've watched all of Ulandos' spotlights, but he didn't really let things naturally progress in the video where he addressed the new system. It's explained that the Queen, along with some drones, will spread out the hive resin. What I'm unsure of is where the drones come from in this case.

I've spotted naturally-evolved queens in my survival games that are simply sitting out in the open with eggsacks, no drones or hive-resin nearby anywhere. I would assume that this is intentional, as it doesn't seem to me that the drones really give a rat's ass if a queen is nearby or not. They seem to just go wherever they want attacking and killing things rather than sticking to the queen in an attempt to build a hive.

Assuming, however, that a functioning hive is created, do more drones still spawn from them like they used to? Or is it mostly an aesthetic thing/flag for the queen to start dropping eggs? A neat feature would be if you could get the drones to kinda hang around the queen a little more, until she starts dropping eggs, at which case they grab an egg if one is available and high-tail it elsewhere and drop it off in the middle of nowhere. Otherwise when no eggs are in the vicinity they simply stick around the queen, attacking anything that comes in range and returning to her majesty once the prey is slaughtered. I would imagine that the max wander-range would come from the extent of the hive, where the only time they really leave it is to take eggs elsewhere.

Just a thought or two :)

Ah. I thought I went through the assembler list already and didn't see it. I saw the cryostasis tube, but not the medbay. Thanks!

Is there any way in the mod as it is to currently capture/place things like ovamorphs, facehuggers, xenos, predators and the like in cryostasis tubes in survival mode? Or is that a function that currently only works in creative? Also, perhaps I'm blind, but what is the recipe for making a medbay?

A couple of questions that may have already been answered, but 511 pages is a lot to go through.

    1) Where do Marines usually spawn, and what is their behavior? I'm considering trying to get some of them to protect the villages from Xenos, but I don't know where to find them outside of creative.

    2) Is there any way to alter the spawn configurations? I'm actually certain that I've asked this before a year or so ago, but what I would like to do is completely remove the xenos from naturally spawning in the world, but still allow them to spawn via their normal evolution cycle/hive resin. Basically like bringing an egg from a different planet to the main overworld, "accidentally" getting someone infected and growing a queen who then creates her own hive, like they do in the movies. I know it's meant for making survival mode harder, but in a roleplay setting this makes little sense unless you're acting as if you're already on an infested planet. Controlling the xenos so that they only spawn on one of the other planets (from this mod or created from another one) would be pretty amazing.

It's been a long time since I've had this mod, and with all the changes and improvements I'm excited to play it again. It was great before, but it seems to be way better now.

I'm not the kind of person that sits here and overanalyzes every single thing, every little detail in a movie, book or video game like I'm entitled to have things a certain way. I enjoy an experience for what it is; if I'm entertained by the end of the game/movie/book, then it was well worth the time and effort. I don't let the opinions of others, or some sort of self-entitled "I deserve things a certain way because I paid $20 for this" mindset screw over an experience for me. In the end, artists have one goal: creating art. It isn't about what the fans want. It's about what the artists want to portray, to get their vision across. They owe us -nothing-, and that entitled viewpoint is what is dragging the entertainment industry down.

It's no longer about making art or having a vision and seeing it come to life. It's about pandering to the screaming masses yelling "WE WANT THINGS THIS WAY!", killing the industries one by one, making people who are truly talented scared to be themselves in their art for fear of being torn apart by faceless nobodies and critics who get paid to bash things for no truly good reason.

There's actually a lot of debate about whether or not the egg-implantation ability of the PredAlien is actually something that all PredAliens would have. The theory is that that particular predalien is a young Queen, and the ability to implant multiple eggs into one host is meant to allow for jump-starting a hive before the Queen goes into gestation-mode.

Yeah I think there's a problem with ovamorph spawning from the temple spawner. I could never get anything to spawn from it, regardless of what I tried (coincidentally I tried everything Cybercat suggested).
