I would like some ideas of what to build on minecraft survival. I have a house, watch tower, path/road and a library. Any Other ideas would be greatly appreciated thx
Build an above ground vault/bank, with a redstone keycode entry, and secure one way exit
Items despawn 5 minutes after you load the chunk. So if you died, and teleported out of the nether, the timer will start once you're within chunk loading distance of your items. So you're probably ok.
I have a field with cows that I raise for leather (I've also harvested gunpowder from creepers which have spawned in the cow field and have been trapped there)
when i try branch mining i cant find any 's what do i do?
ps:im at layer 12
They're not common... spend some time branch mining and you WILL find them. It takes time to build up a pool of resources. Just as IronMagus suggests, branch mine and you will find diamonds.
Hmm, instead of building a house, why not just build a camp? make some nice warm tents/huts and souround it with an dark logs
That would certainly be a nice idea for temporary camping spots along the way between larger buildings if I decide to sprawl out, but I'm definitely more of a home base gamer than a nomad
How it would look in that spot is my first and only concern, everything else I can work out once I take control of the area!
I just finished exploring the entire zoomed out map area around my original starting point and I've found a few good candidates. I'm realizing though that there are NO villages anywhere... ANYWHERE!! Gah... So I might want to park alongside extreme hills and make sure my branch mining goes in that direction to find emerald ore. That's the only economical decision influencing me at the moment.
I have a three level farm, the top level containing 64 blocks of farmland, and the bottom two with 56 each (for water flow). The top field is carrot, the second is potato, and third is wheat. Next to it, I have a semi-auto sugar cane farm with pistons that is 2 blocks wide, 3 tall and 30 blocks long. And next to THAT I have a nether wart patch.
Whenever I make a trip from mining to the surface, or vice versa, I stop in and farm what I can.Oh... and I CANNOT find any melon seeds or melon slices ANYWHERE in one of my worlds... so frustrating!! No dungeon boxes have them, no villages at all so far, bah!
I just built one for my world using as inspiration. I made several tweaks to my final version, but with this basic trap principle in mind (one tile wide walkways around canals all feeding to the center) it's relatively low cost to build (block-wise), and easily expandable. I often have it maxed out with spawns.
I started mine at y=180 going all the way to y=240. I have it configured for XP, I just chuck in a potion of healing and BOOM full of win.
Interesting ideas! I tend to dig into the ground/side of a hill and do an underground base. I think I'll try to force myself out of that shell and actually design a house
I was just considering moving my home base to a more interesting location and the question popped into my head: what do you guys consider when choosing a location for your main base/house?
I just made 2 different maps last night, one zoomed all the way in, and one zoomed all the way out. Both working great! I'll echo what I've read as well, and make sure you are not shift clicking it from the crafting table to your inventory. Seems to be a glitch there. And you should re-evaluate your sugar cane farming techniques

Actually its very useful for me, I use it to fill holes that I make while caving, or to cover up lava that's too deep

Devilishly brilliant... haha.
But yea, poisonous potato definitely *currently* least useful.
