Best free: Microsoft Security Essentials. Anyone who says anything else is lying.
Best paid: Probably Kaspersky, although there may be others that are better such as NOD32.

posted a message on Why do people hate on Justin Bieber?
Actually, Justin Bieber IS a bad person.

I live in an area close to his hometown. One of my friends had a cousin who lived in Bieber's hometown and went to the same highschool as him (before he was famous, of course). He told me that Bieber was a **** to everyone, arrogant and self-loving, and that everyone hated him.

And with news like this, I don't doubt him at all: http://www.vancouversun.com/Justin+Bieb ... story.html

What the hell does that first part of your post have to do with anything?

Anyway, all you really need is the MCP, which can be found here: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Minecraft_Coder_Pack

Hey guys I was just wondering if its normal for a 2.0GB Ram to just be excessively slow when it has a process using 600MB+.

Any ideas on how to actually use 100% of my 2.0GB Ram? Because at 600MB+ memory use everything just gets very very slow.

What are the rest of your specs?

And using up all of your memory won't make it seem any faster. The less memory the better, actually.

I disagree. As long as the memory is freed up when necessary for applications that need it, I think that using more memory for caches and the like is more useful than having it sit there doing nothing. As the saying goes, "Unused RAM is wasted RAM."

Really? I'm going to have to be the guy to do this? Alright.

I would turn into Hitler's father so that I could make sure he was never born, thus preventing the largest war in human history and one of the most gruesome ethnic cleansings in European history form taking place.

    Selfish bastards.

You'd also be ****ing history, and consequently the world as we know it, in the head. Things happen for a reason.

    This.

what kind of games? Do you play online flash games or recent games in hd quality? For the first and simple games a laptop will do fine otherwise you need a desktop with an i7 8gb of ram dd3 and maybe something like the hd 4850

This is one of the most hilarious posts I have ever read on these forums.

You don't need an i7 to play "HD quality games" (what the hell does that even mean?) and you certainly don't need 8GB of RAM. On the other hand, you need MORE than a 3 year old HD 4850.

posted a message on why math?
    Why do we need math?

I did a survey as my unit one final project in my introduction to antho/sociology/psychology course. I was trying to see if there was a co-relation between whether or not someone's performance in logic puzzles co-relates with their average grade. I asked them to answer 3 logic puzzles, asked them for their average (it was a range), and asked them for their worst/least favorite and best/most favorite classes.

My original hypothesis was slightly proven, as not many people got even 2 of the logic puzzles correct. However, I noticed a very prominent pattern in my results. People who had chosen math (and, to a lesser degree, science) as their favorite course received substantially higher grades than those who chose social sciences, language arts, or the arts (excluding music, to a certain degree). People who chose the aforementioned social sciences, language arts, or the arts as their best subjects received LOWER grades than the math students. Inversely, those who chose math as their least favorite or worst subject received lower grades, while people who chose social sciences, language arts, or the arts as their least favorite or worst subjects received much higher grades than the first group.

Before you claim that this is biased due to my school forcing kids into math courses, I must say that you only need 3 math credits, as opposed to 4 English credits, to graduate. In fact, my school only has three grade 12 math courses (all the other grades get a measly one) while having many more courses falling in line with the "lower grade" categories I shoved above.

That is why you need math.

No, don't get the Alienware. Get something from this list:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLi ... -%20%24750
Just looking at the first one on the list, and its better than the Alienware that was linked.

    Lol no.
Intel is unnecessary for gaming. The CPUs are better, but AMD is good and fast enough for most games out there. Intel is better for stuff like video editing and CPU intensive tasks, as they will run faster, but buying one for gaming is a waste of money better spent on other components.

Good job i do 3D video design and animation then

... so? What does this have to do with the OP's computer?

don't go AMD, just don't.. here are the specs of ine (slightly old(built a year and a half ago))

    Processor: Intel Core i7 90
    RAM: 6GB DDR3
    Graphics: 2x ~AMD 4850 512mb in SLi
    HDD = 2x 500mb 32mb cache sata2 and 2x 1tb 32mb cache sata2.
    2x Gigabit lan onboard
    5.1 audio on board
    PSU: 650W

runs everything pretty sweet, but honestly intel are far more stable
