You can do this by removing the battery, starting your computer, shutting it down after a minute or so and then placing the battery back in or by removing the master jumper for a few seconds.
By master jumper, do you mean the power cable?
Semi-computer illiterate here, know main components, don't know how they work
Something that looks like this:
Feb 27, 2011Posted in: Computer Science and TechnologyQuote from gixxy »in many way jailbreaking is more secure. While right after you jailbreak it is very insecure, change your root password and your good.
While it is a pain to get around the software, once you do, all unjailbroken iphones/ipods and ipads(i think) have the same root and mobile account passwords: alpine. Which makes it painfully easy to get in once you've done it once to one iDevice.
Thats true. Note that this only applies if you've installed OpenSSH. Otherwise, you don't need to worry.
Feb 27, 2011If you haven't ordered it yet, I advise looking into buying the mobo I suggested. You may be able to unlock that dual-core CPU into a quad. You can keep it as a dual for server stability, but having a quad core would be really nice if you wanted to use it as a work machine in the future.Posted in: Computer Science and Technology

Good question. My wife and daughter both have these, despite having zero Asian DNA in their bloodlines.Quote from oops_ur_dead »where did the epicanthic fold, commonly seen in East Asian eyelids, come from?
That was a bad example, I admit. Let me ask something else: where did the increased keratin in East Asian skin, giving them a more yellow-tinted appearance, come from, and why isn't it found in other people with less pigmentation?
Feb 27, 2011Posted in: General Off TopicQuote from Jumbify »
1) Yea, I mean a direct first generation hybrid, which even though there are dominant traits, sometimes they are mixed, where both traits are shown.
2) Not really, your color of your skin is determined primary by melanin.
3) After many many generations of this genetic mixing, you would eventually get Americans and Asians.
2) That is true. But "melanin" is not a gene. Melanin is a pigment. The abundance of melanin in your skin, however, is controlled by several genes, not just one, whereas your example assumes that skin color is only controlled by a single gene.
3) Fair enough. Then where did the epicanthic fold, commonly seen in East Asian eyelids, come from?
Feb 27, 2011Posted in: General Off TopicQuote from Jumbify »My answer to your question an creation:
So you understand what I am talking about, I am going to tell you some stuff:
(STUDY ANYTHING YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND)
Gregor Mendel's four principals of genetics:
1: The traits of an organism are determined by its genes.
2: Each organism has two alleles that make up the genotype for a given trait.
3:In sexual reproduction, each parent contributes ONLY ONE of its alleles to its offspring.
4:In each genotype, there is a dominant allele. If it exists in an organism, the phenotype is determined by that allele.
Adam and eve where most likely a brown type of person, a mix of black and white.
Lets say that they both had a genotype with two alleles that determined their skin color, we will call it: C c ( The uppercase letter represents the dominant allele)
Im going to represent how the genes where spread through Adam and Eve's children using a Punnett Square.
This shows that the two parents, Cc(Brown) and Cc(Brown), have a 50% chance to give birth to a Cc(Brown) child, and a 25% chance to give birth to a CC(Black) child, and a 25% chance to give birth to a cc(White) child.
Ok cool, but what happens when two parents have a homozygousgenotype?
Well lets see:
This shows that the two parents, CC(Black) and CC(Black), can only give birth to CC(Black) children because the DNA for white skin doesn't exist in them.
So hopefully that explained how the different races of people became, I am not the best at explaining stuff, so feel free to ask me questions. Make sure you PM me them as well as posting them in the topic.
A really good website to look at if you have any questions about Creationism:
~PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FULLY STUDIED EVERY LINK I HAVE GIVEN YOU~
Problems with this:
1) This only works if by "brown" you mean a direct first generation hybrid of black and white races. If you mean a more Arabic or south Asian kind of person, then that won't work.
2) There are many genes that code for skin color, so the skin colors of the offspring would remain mixed.
3) That only explains the origins of white and black people. What about native Americans? What about Asians?
Feb 27, 2011Posted in: Computer Science and TechnologyQuote from bituser »Quote from oops_ur_dead »Quote from bituser »Don't Jailbreak. I done it to my iPod touch, and it makes you feel insecure and the OS doesn't look or work as efficiently IMO.
What the hell? All jailbreaking does, in its purest form, is it roots your device. It it literally impossible for that to cause your OS to look worse or be slower.
Sorry, I should have been clearer. The slowness and security is not a result of just the Jailbreak, its a result of all of the different sometimes unstable things you install. Thats about the only thing you will do... install unverified apps. It just worries me thats all.
Also, I am pro Jailbreak I think we should be allowed to do it, I like freedom :smile.gif:. Its just the fact that apps aren't properly checked that prevents me from doing it again.
Hope that clarifies it
Any jailbroken apps or tweaks you can install will affect your stability no more than any software you can install on your computer. The issue comes with people download tons of tweaks, causing slowdown on older devices.
Quote from Awak3nd »OK I understand somewhat, but when I restore is it simple as pressing the restore button or is there something else I have to change or something, I read something about ECID code or some **** and that confused me.
If you unlock your phone (as in, get it to work on a different carrier), you will have to preserve your baseband every time you update. If you don't, all you have to worry about is saving your SHSH blobs. This will allow you to downgrade in the future, if you need to. Its really easy, all you have to do is let Cydia "make your life easier" on the first time it runs, and it will save the blobs. Then, if you ever need to downgrade, you'll have to follow some steps and you'll be able to.
Feb 26, 2011Posted in: Computer Science and TechnologyQuote from minecrafter7466 »Ok, guys, no need to start a fight. Oops_ur_dead, I appreciate the suggestions, and will consider adding some ram, for such little money, It couldn't hurt. But as for Ubuntu Server, I think you misunderstand what I will be using the desktop for. I plan to run the server and play it from the same computer, to ease operations of in-game commands, unless this is impossible. Thank you for your suggestions otherwise.
Ah, I see. In that case, Ubuntu Desktop would be preferable, although I would advise turning the GUI off when you aren't playing to improve server performance. In that case, however, the need for 4GB is even greater, since you are sharing memory with the client and the server.
And, I still recommend that alternative motherboard. Its great if you can unlock an extra core, especially since you can use that core exclusively for the server to improve performance. Make sure to do stress testing, though, to make sure its stable, and don't be disappointed if you can't unlock. The odds are good, though, with about 70% of CPUs being able to unlock a stable core.
Feb 26, 2011Posted in: General Off TopicQuote from odiedodi »The main problem I have with these "OMFG EXPLAIN THIS **** YOU SKY GOD WORSHIPING FAGGOTS!" threads is that they all make the logical fallacy of assuming all people that believe in creationism are strict creationists and don't believe in any modern science at all.
Yeah, I realize my mistake now. I used to be a creationist, but a modern science believing one. However, I find that it is relatively safe to assume that most creationists don't believe in evolution, just like how its safe to assume that most Atheists believe in evolution.
Feb 26, 2011Except genetic adaptation is the same as evolution, proving that evolution has to exist.Posted in: General Off Topic
Also, you can't disprove a God, but you cannot prove it either. However, it is always the best approach to assume the negative until there is proof for the positive. For instance, if I made the claim that there are magical elves flying around us, except we cannot see or smell them, they are invisible to all our tools, and they are very good at dodging us, could you disprove that? No. Can you prove that? No. Are you going to believe in it simply because you cannot disprove it?
Feb 26, 2011Posted in: Computer Science and TechnologyQuote from jaqiefox »for server tasks recommending a desktop board like that and also unlocking cores that may give silent erorrs randomly is really stupid, no insult intended.
Thats why you do stress testing to make sure its stable. A lot of the time, AMD will lock cores to target the low-end markets. These cores are fully functional. Unlocking one of these CPUs would be no worse than having the legitimate dual-core.
Quote from jaqiefox »as for ram, I run two minecraft servers on my am2 quite constantly and it has yet to go over 2GB ram used including OS memory use.
Considering that the 4GB kit costs about $10 more, and will essentially future-proof the Minecraft server for any memory-hungry updates that may come. 2GB would work, but when you can double it for so little, I don't see the point.
Quote from jaqiefox »as for ubuntu server, are you kidding me? that's like recommending someone a car kit when they want an inexpensive car to drive around.
I fail to see the connection. As I said, you can install a GUI to do the intial setup, and run headless from then on. If you aren't comfortable with the CLI, you can just run the GUI every time you need to do something. It'll be faster and use up less resources than Ubuntu desktop.
Feb 26, 2011Every time they force you to go to church, do things that will make them not want to take you anymore. Play black metal extremely loudly from your MP3 player. Chant Satanic verses. Sneak in a pentagram necklace and put it on when services start. Be creative.Posted in: General Off Topic
Feb 26, 2011Adam and Eve had to have been a single race when they were created. You cannot be of multiple races. Lets assume that they were white, since that seems to be the most common depiction of them. How do you explain the existence of multiple races without using evolution?Posted in: General Off Topic
