I suppose there will always be a way how to prevent pillagers from reaching your villagers, unless they spawn on the blocks where villagers are standing.
I'm not really a builder, I usually just dig a hole in the side of a hill to start my mine and add a door and a window or 2.
I also usually dig a hole on the side of a hill and add door.
At the beginning of the game a small hole, later I expand my architectural masterpiece to a big hole with many chests and lots of unsorted junk, I add some slave camp for the villagers, some farms around, etc.
Not a bad idea. But I still think the best and the most natural options option would be adding sharks.
I don't understand why developers suddenly feel a strong social responsibility about sharks in the game, where you can do a lot of totally unrealistic or immoral things.
The player can destroy the walls of the house and the roof does not fall, massacre all creatures in the game, murder or enslave the villagers, but developers fear that adding sharks to the game can endanger sharks or children in the real world? This is one of the most stupid excuses I've ever heard.
If you're still looking for your first elytra, it may be annoying. But with elytrou you can loot any city or ship very quickly, If you only focus on treasure rooms.
I tried to update my world from 1.13.2 to 1.14 snapshot. It looks like my trading hall is working and villagers have kept their unlocked trade options from 1.13.2. But I have not tried if they restock. I suppose If they don't It should be enough to add a workplace blocks to their cell. Or is free movement required to replenish supplies?
I would like to see an update focused on adventuring including challenging combat.
The update should include small or large generaled structures like castles, castle ruins, dragon caves or dungeons with monsters and traps (more than just a one room with spawner), in which, in addition to other randomly generated mobs, mini-bosses or bosses who never despawn would be generated during word generation. The bosses could be new mobs, significantly stronger versions of existing mobs, or both.
There should be a mechanism that prevents a player from easily mining through walls in such a structure, something like an improved version of mining fatigue, which makes the walls in a given generated structure indestructible until the main boss is found and defeated.
Cartographers could sell maps to find such structures, just as it works for the ocean monument or woodland mansions.
I recently discovered this activity and I really like it. Killing phantoms from the ground is much easier but air-to-air combat is one of the funniest things to do in Minecraft.
I play 1.13.2 singleplayer world. I have several mending items that I have got as loot in the end cities.
I would like to get a mending book so I can have mending elytra. Many hours of AFK fishing or villager breeding in singleplayer seem a little lame to me.
What is the best way to get a mending a book in some more adventuring way?
Locate multiple strongholds and loot libraries? Or travel from village to village and find out what librarians are selling?
Is the maximum distance between villagers and the player, where villager moves, 32 blocks, so I have to be within 32 blocks from villagers to make breeders or villager powered AFK crop farms working?
Does it also apply to spawn chunks whcich are always loaded?
I don't think 1.14 will prevent iron farming in villages. It will just change the way of farming but it will still be easier than traveling to the wodland mansion.
Woodland mansion should contain different opportunities and motivation than a place for an iron farm.
1.14 adds a lot of interesting content in addition to the cuddly sparkly bits, but it even more highlights the underused potential of woodland mansions.
I would like to have more large structures like woodland mansion in minecraft worlds.
For example, castles containing some strong mobs generating on top of some hills would be nice.

Are there still any servers with old style Hunger Games minigames, where you can craft, destroy blocks etc?
I liked it more than the approach where you can only loot from chest but can't change the environment?

Air-to-air combat with ghast is also fun.
Two tips:
1) Never try to fly in the Nether without a fire resistance potion.
2)Before attempting to take off from a platform above the lava, make sure you have not forgotten to put the elytra into the body armor slot. :-)

As far as I know wrecks and underwater ruins can not contain treasure enchantments.

By worthless I mean a very bad ratio of revard and avarage time needed to reach a Woodland Mansion.
So if the average time to reach a woodland mansion is reduced (by increasing their frequency), or the reward increases, W M would not be worthless.
