You're right it isn't permadeath, but i was explaining what it really was to people who thought it was permadeath.
If you thought that was bad if you read through the first 20-30 pages of this you would understand what I'm saying, and I don't think you read my other comments. I've said exactly what you said like 5 times and people weren't listening and then I wrote it again, this time a lot simpler. I don't take your post offensively and you weren't being rude, i think you were just addressing it to the wrong person. Read the other comments and you'll understand what I'm saying.
I only call it Permdeath, because that's what I'm referring to. I know it isn't really Permdeath, I was explaining what it really meant.
In other words, what you just said was exactly what I said.
For some reason, I can't reply so this will have to do. -
Jul 22, 2011oPheono posted a message on Notch Reveals Leveling and Permadeathughhh.. nobody seems to be listening.. Permadeath doesnt mean you lose your world. You just lose your experience and levels.Posted in: News

Jul 21, 2011oPheono posted a message on Notch Reveals Leveling and PermadeathPermadeath just means you lose your experience when you die, you wont lose your world.it doesn't need to be toggleable,or modded out..Posted in: News
Its bold and underlined, so people can see it. -

But what if the benefits to getting levels are things like doing more damage to mobs, taking less fall damage, breaking blocks faster, longer durability on tools, sprinting longer, not having to eat as much, etc? That wouldn't limit the sandbox style right? IMO It would make the game even funner!
I'm sure that's what it will be. There would be no point of a diamond pickaxe, if you could mine obsidian with wood. -

Well for some reason I can't reply to anyone's posts so I'll just direct it to you.
The way I would do it, is to have more varity of monsters, as well as stronger and weaker ones. At first only the weak ones will spawn (only zombies). As you kill zombies, you get experience and level up. They take a few hits to kill, because you are weak, and you only have a few hearts - but zombies are zombies. You can beat them back without getting hit for the most part. At level 2, you have 4 hearts. Now you will still mostly see zombies, but occasionally a spider as well. Also, the zombies come 5% more frequently. You can kill the zombies in maybe 1 or 2 less hits. This continues until you are, say, level 20. Now you are fighting all mobs in minecraft, and they come pretty often. Zombies are one hits, creepers still take a few, and there are a few even tougher mobs that you fight every once in a while. You have 8 hearts, so survive a bit better. Suddenly, when you aren't paying attention, you are killed by a creeper. Back to level 1, fighting zombies.
I agree with your other paragraphs, just not this one.
I'm not too sure about your idea, it would make the game feel more like horde mode from gears of war, or firefight from halo. If you know what I mean. Though it'd be cool if there was game mode like that :D.
I am okay with the way the mobs are now and I feel it should be kept the same mob-wise.
Though, I see where your coming from, with the progression through mobs. I just don't think it would feel the same.
(Ex. I'm on my minecraft world minding my own business, building a shelter, killing a few zombies. Oh level up cool.
Next day, okay there's twice as many zombies.. strange.. Level up again.
Next day, uhh why the hell are there so many damn zombies? Level up again.
By level 20, your hiding in your shelter, hearing the sounds of millions of zombies, creepers, skeletons, and spiders just waiting outside your small dirt shelter, waiting for that moment you peak out to kill you.)
I don't really know where I'm going with this. I just don't think thats the best idea. Thats all. Besides that I completely agree with you. -

I don't know about that. I feel like that would make it feel like a horde mode or something. Although that'd also be cool for a new mode
But, I totally understand your other paragraphs and I agree with them. Just not that one, I think the mobs should be kept the way they are.
Trust Notch, I think he can pull this off and make it fun for all of us. -
Jul 21, 2011oPheono posted a message on Notch Reveals Leveling and PermadeathI know Notch won't ruin Minecraft in 1.8, because he JUST added Pistons in 1.7, which promotes creativity. Notch isn't going to just throw it all away in the next update. Notch is very smart and he knows what he's doing.Posted in: News
And don't worry about the leveling system. I'm sure it will be balanced and it wont make the game feel Pure RPG, trust me.
And even if he does mess up, which is very unlikely, he will just fix it. -
Jul 21, 2011oPheono posted a message on Notch Reveals Leveling and PermadeathAlright, so i typed my first post only after reading the first page, so now i have a much more vivid understanding of this.Posted in: News
So far, I'm okay with all of these being implemented into survival, because now i know that permadeath isn't really permadeath. All you do is lose your levels, you still die the same way and can go back and get your items, and you don't lose your saves.
I've played on a server just like this. When i mined I got levels in mining, and the same went towards everything else. It was actually kind of fun. The hunger was a bother only because it went up too fast, but I know Notch will balance it.I actually am looking forward to these new updates, but also I would like an Adventure Mode along with it too, where you cant place blocks and its a PURE RPG feel, while still having these updates in Minecraft Survival.
I can see how all of this will be played , and I'm looking forward to the new changes in survival, and hoping it isn't just a new mode. I'm MOSTLY hoping that its both though, because that would be very awesome. So after reading like 15 pages of comments, I have a better understanding of everything and I'm hoping that anyone reading this, when you were confused as I was, will have a much more clear understanding of this new update. -
Jul 21, 2011oPheono posted a message on Notch Reveals Leveling and PermadeathI think permadeath thing would be a problem for minecraft if its not toggle-able . Since minecraft is also about building, I don't want to die when building a nice house I've worked months on and never come back to finish it. I hope we get some more news on this, because I'm honestly scared on where this is going. I also think Hunger should be an option too, I've played on servers with hunger and I know that hunger goes up really fast. It would just get in the way when I want to do other things except just surviving. That's not all the game is about.Posted in: News

That may have been one of the coolest things I've ever read on this forum.

It may be somewhere in the data, but I have no idea how i'd figure it out or where it will be in that.
I'll just be patient and wait for either a mod or 1.8 official for it :smile.gif:

That would be my favorite mod on minecraft :smile.gif:

I just spent like an hour or two making this amazing building, but I want to use it in survival now >.<

Haha cool, thanks.
I didn't know i really helped anyone lol, I still haven't tried it myself, too lazy to rebuild my house right now lol.
I don't see it though, just the dq.class file for scotools available :tongue.gif:.
But if that's the one i can just use mine lol.
Plus there seems to be a helpful video on this thread.
Only reason i didn't do anything yet is because I'm too lazy lol but i think i got it covered now.

Okay, so for the people who want Premium Wood to work with the Aether, I found this :
http://www.minecraft...ercommands-fix/
Supposedly, thats everything you need to copy into the .config
Im not doing this because I;m waiting for the video of MRDeiru, the guy who helped slyfox get them to work.
Mainly because I have a house with alot of Premium Wood, and when the block ID's change the block will disapear or be something else. I dont want to rebuild it, but if the tutorial never comes out, I will be doing this.
The link also has a fix for SPC in the Aether, and a test of a decreased zephyr spawn.
For those who want the mod to work on a new world or something, this could be your fix.
I havn't tested it yet, but it should hopefully work.

Its kinda late and all, but I decided to check up on this page again for the Aether + Premium Wood compatibility thing.
This config file your talking about, Is it the same one I linked before? lol
Or could you link it to me if it isn't.
That'd help a lot , thanks.
I'm just hoping for a mod pack with all the mods from slyfox's series lol. >.<

They make good companions to have in a house.
And on top of that you can make them fight?
I gave myself a little purple one in my house.
Its so cool.
I love this mod so much and i only downloaded it like 8 minutes ago.

Beat this though.

That's what they want you to think.
